To me it's more like BMTH+I Prevail , but yeah also it has some elements from Korn now that I think about it

I think part of what gave the Slipknot vibe was the cadence of the screamed parts. It's a super percussive delivery, which is something Corey does a lot.
It also sounds like someone is genuinely yelling out of anger and hurting themselves; Slipknot nailed that in most of their albums

Personally my favorite song by Bad Omens is still “Burning Out”
If it is getting darker, it would make sense given the state of the world. But also, growing into a more mature and happy life does make you more acutely aware of these things than when you're younger.
They take inspiration from alot of those bands you guys mentioned. Love these guys. I watched and interview a couple years or so ago. Have been a fan ever since.
LOVE what's been released from this new album! This song rips! "What do you want from me?"... It sounds like they did a collaboration with HEALTH or something. Keep it up you two!

They got such a firm grasp on their sound with the implemented electronics compared to how they used electronics in FGBGFM but you can definitely see their progression going down the discog. This new sound is incredible.

The switch between that harsh hardcore percussion to that chugging groovy percussion in the chorus is an unsung hero in this song

I think from my observation, metal seems to be darker cuz bands are starting to use sadder tones and melodies rather than the in your face, aggressive mood that is the usual metal staple….. could’ve just made that up too
You’re absolutely right. Metal is becoming more about the use of layers of atmosphere and sound to create tone rather than just the instruments itself. I dig it.

They remind me of Celldweller mixed with Thousand Foot Krutch and growls from Wage War.
I don't think bands are getting sadder with their music, this conversation reminds me of "Pumped Up Kicks". No one really notices how sad the lyrics are.

I feel like they’re writing real songs that actually mean something than just fucking around and having a good time. I personally like songs that are more real feelings than just having a good time. Like don’t get me wrong, Attila’s sick and all but that’s all just surfacy emotions they talk about like drinking with the buds and having sex. Like that’s awesome and fun to listen to, but that’s just not true real emotions to me. Sad or angry songs hit harder home than just happy let’s have a good time song lol. They also wrote this stuff tho. I mean look at sempiternal. That whole album is about depression or a personal take on thoughts about an ideology/religious belief and that’s considered to be one of the best metal albums of all time. So you might just be more of a softy now Wyatt;)

It's sadder man. The pandemic has really made an impact but I don't think that's all there is to it. I feel like as we move forward there is a growing realization if you will that things aren't getting better. Whether or not they aren't is all circumstantial but there is definitely a new low.

It’s both. As you get older you become more aware and more sympathetic but also the world isn’t necessarily going to shit. The world has been way worse than it is but the world is cyclical and we’re going through our rounds of shit. Pandemics, war, political and social crap. It’s all happened before. It’s just our cycle or strong of mini cycles and the music is reflecting both. Both the world events and effects of it as well as the fact the bands we love are getting older and changing and so we’re seeing the sun of it all.
