I think it's also worth mentioning that in Light Shower, it's a cosmic song from what people had explained to me, so when she said 'eating you' it's sort of because she is the dark that eats the light (which is the person the song is referring to). Which somehow in that perspective it makes me sad cause she wants her last days to still cherish and enjoy this light that miraculously appeared in her life but the dark usually ends up consuming the light till it dies out first only for the dark to be left alone again like bro why does that make me cry in the club.

This makes alot of sense. Mel is into deep meanings of names and in Field Trip on her After-school album she mentions how her mom was originally going to name her Katarina -pure light but in the end named her Melanie-Darkness.

Spider web transitions to leeches and also right at the transition of spider web you can hear animals which reference to Melanie Martinez ethnicity ( Dominican i think)

I love light shower and the calm vibe it has to it. At first, this wasn’t one of my favorites. The more and more I listened and progressed throughout the album, I enjoyed it more and more. It has a place in my heart and will forever be one of my favorites.

I really like your reactions! Did you see melanies previous albums? I was a fan before Portals and it always seems like I'm listening to a different person, the past albums were like this ''childhood trauma'' put together with pastel, kid vibes while this new album is like mythical and fairy like. I absolutely LOVE portals though! There are 0 skips in any album of hers, that's pure t a l e n t.
