    Your french is better than mine! 😂 When I did the STQT the green lines didn't exist. It's nice that they're always updating it. Beauty of a camping spot once you hiked in there. Please tell me you didn't have any freight trains going by overnight........the tree across the track tells me no.

      Lol, no trains, thank God. That line must be shut down. But it was a great spot all things considered. The sunset was amazing with that rainbow, and our camp neighbours were nice and came over to chat a bit too. Very quiet through the night as well.

      @colpitts350 I failed my NB gov't qualification by ONE multiple choice question (ABA, was required for the job). I want to plan a Moto flyfishing trip though. Ride the TQT and fish all the ZEC rivers along the way.

      I just finished video 6. That camp site is awesome. I want to head up to the Nepisiguit river and Mount Carleton for my next adventure.@@IslandADV

    When I was in Gaspé a man walked up to my bike speaking fast in French. I had no idea what he was saying, I deeply sighed replying back "parlez-vous anglais" then in perfect English he said, almost in an offended tone "Well of course, I'm Canadian!" we proceed to have a very pleasant conversation. A lot of people I came across throughout Quebec spoke very little English and my extremely limited and terrible French came in very handy. What really surprised me was how many people were speaking French in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and many weren't tourists. Out west it's very rare to hear people speaking French. Another that surprised me was that on the reserves in the middle of Quebec everyone spoke English!

      It reminded me of how much of a different place Quebec is. It took a couple of days to get in a bit of a rhythm with my French, but it helped so much. The receptionist at this campground straight up couldn't speak english, and next evening, I was able to negotiate staying at an amazing wild camp on a river after speaking with a fly fishing guide. It's stuff like this that makes these trips more than just point A to point B on a motorcycle. It's the reason why I dig this whole ADV thing. Cheers buddy, Merry Christmas, too.

    I have to say that you have been doing really well with your French! Seems like communicating in that area wasn't much of an issue! Great video as always.

      The funniest moment not on camera:
      Brandon paying for gas,
      Brandon to the cashier: "Numero un".
      Cashier: Speaks way more French than anticipated.
      Brandon: "ERIC, Translate!"
      LOL.
      But yeah I was really proud of myself on this one. I made an effort and it felt good when it worked.

    I'm really enjoying this series. Beautiful country! Thank you for the efforts in putting this together. I know it is a LOT of work. After that heavy rain period did you take a day somewhere to dry out your gear ? everything must have been soaked. Take care - Cheers from Washington State--

      Thanks so much. I'm glad you're liking the series. It's fun making stuff like this from our adventures. Things finally started drying out by day 4. The rain ceased being a constant thing and more of a repeat occurrence, lol. But we had some longer evenings in camp where our gear started to get dry. I even got one of my mics to start working again, so by around episode 7, there'll be a bit more in the saddle chat. Cheers!

    Ah mais oui!! Your french is better than my Acadian French! Lol, all good as long as everyone puts in an effort to understand each other. Cool wild camp, was it mostly hikers or travellers? Percé looks so beautiful, I haven’t been there in many years. Lovely coastal route, I can see myself going there soon. Cheers, and keep well!

      It was mostly folks with cars there for a few nights, actually. We weren't the only ones who missed the "hike-in" aspect of the site. There were a couple on bicycles traveling that were a bit surprised, too. But overall, I'd definitely stay there again.
      One scene during the night was so cool. I was walking back from the showers and could hear music. There was a group of people at a camper in a site singing along with an accordion and fiddle player. Great campground.

    Votre francais est vraiment bon monsieur. I got to go up to New Richmond and cross over to Saint Anne Des Month down to Riviere Du Loup and back to Grand Falls NB (home) . I was on my 08 Utra Classic, and got to put over 800 KM on the bke that day. Amazing views, cettais trop beau. Next summer I will be going around the whole penissula.

      Merci Beaucoup! That sounds like a great ride for sure. I'd love to someday ride a through much more of Quebec. With the right bike, a two up couples adventure to Quebec City would be amazing. Happy holidays!!!

    Haha re: stamina at ~7:30 , I did 3 7-8 hour days taking my bike from PEI back to Ottawa through the states and let me tell ya, my ass was sore for a good week after that, 4-5 hour days are a good idea 😅😅

      @IslandADV  10 месяцев назад

      I can imagine. We did really good this year. We both agreed by the end of 7th day that we could have kept going. But that last day was a long one, and I was feeling it when I pulled in the driveway, lol.
      But man, PEI to Ottawa is a hell of long haul. Very impressive.

    Planning a trip to Gaspe however this one will be on a cruiser and I’m sticking to 132 Blacktop. My question for you is about your comment on speaking French. My French is terrible, worse than yours. Is this going to make it a deal breaker. I’ve been through Quebec several times but just to get through to Ontario.

    • @IslandADV
      @IslandADV  Месяц назад

      Certainly not a deal breaker. But you get a lot of credit for trying to speak French in Quebec, and that adds a whole other level to the experience I find. So if you want to make the trip a bit more fun, try to see if you can get semi-comfortable with a few phrases for specific things like:
      How to pay for gas.
      How to pick up a meal you ordered online (Brandon's pro tip here, lol)
      How to check in to a hotel/campground.
      Good luck on your adventure!
