Has anyone here even watched Dynamite in the last month? They're actually telling stories now. Every match has a reason for happening. They even had a DQ finish in the main event last week, to further a story. There's been more characters and promo segments, which has vastly improved the show. Sadly, I think most people have already made up their minds about AEW and won't give it a chance anymore.

@@wallrads That's too bad, because I defy anyone to watch Dynamite lately and tell me they don't at least see SOME similarities to the Attitude Era. I'm not saying it's nearly that good. But if you compare the two companies right now, AEW is much more similar to that era than WWE currently is. WWE is only focusing on five-star matches and generic wrestlers. AEW is actually doing stories and characters and using the matches to further the stories. I don't remember the last time I saw a five-star spotfest on Dynamite, when it used to happen every week. There's less chaos in the matches, they save the blood for moments that matter. It's been a vast improvement over what they were, and it sucks that most people won't even give it a chance. I was the loudest critic of AEW for three years but now I can recognize that they're improving and putting effort into the show.
AEW is NOT drawing, their talent is NOT drawing, the ratings are down catastrophically and they might lose their TV deal and their arenas are less than half empty. AEW can't bounce back and no cares enough internally to save it.
@@James-if3kc Dynamite and NXT are pretty similar right now. But AEW still has too many matches going on too long. And most of the angles on Dynamite aren’t very good.
@@RonWeassly Did you read my comment? I said they're IMPROVING. I didn't say they're perfect. I said you can see that they're finally putting effort into telling stories and being consistent with them. As for NXT, no. Just no. I'm sorry, but NXT is absolute trash. Everything feels intentionally fake, the backstage segments feel like I'm watching a Disney show with the horrendous and childish acting. The crowd is unbearable. And I mean UNBEARABLE. It's like they took the worst aspects of every smart mark that has ever existed and infused it all into that crowd. I have to watch it mostly on mute. As for the matches, NXT still puts on matches that are way too long and they're only focused on "wrokrate". The matches on Dynamite have gotten significantly shorter, and almost every match is being used to further a story. Even if they're not part of a story, there is usually some reason for them happening. No more random matches between people we've never seen before just because they're "really good wrestlers". The difference is palpable. More people need to give it a chance.
These hyper marks like Meltzer; Tony Khan; Corny -- they can never admit when they're wrong, because wrestling's too damn important to them! It literally defines who they are as a human being!! Their pride and self esteem comes solely from their wrestling fanaticism! (Just watch Meltzer saying 2 + 2 = 5 over and over again while Álvarez is even laughing at him :) Bless 'em.

I watch WOW Women Of Wrestling every week along with 1-2 WWE shows. I haven't seen New Japan in YEARS and I love wrestling! Pro Wrestling is Sports Theater and has been so since the Carney days! Does that mean pies in the face; hillbilly weddings or grannies on a pole? Nope, but more than flippity flip, tuck and roll gymnastics without storylines for 20 minutes!

@@Daiyve The one main complaint I still have about AEW is the fans. They still cheer everyone regardless if they're heels or faces. Actual effort is being made to make people into heels, but some of them still get cheered. I actually care more about Orange Cassidy than before because of the booking. I've loved Trent's heel turn. The crowd actually boos him. The Don Callis twist was nice. I used to hate Orange but can tolerate him now because he's in an actual story. Booking makes all the difference.

They've booked the world title pretty well all along. It's maybe the only title that feels like it has any prestige.

Every world champion they've had has held the title for a significant amount of time (except for Phil "Injury Prone" Brooks, but that's not the company's fault). It's almost always been treated like the top title and top angle in the company. Right now it is taking a backseat to the power struggle between the Elite and TK, but that's only natural. A major story like that should be the main focus. It would be nice if Swerve got involved with it at some point. We'll wait and see.

I would love to see TK's workrate match booking mixed with Russo's Sports Entertaiment booking Ideals. I think that's Exactly what AEW needs.
It's happening now. The main event of Dynamite last week was Bryan Danielson vs. Satnam Singh. The opposite of a "workrate" match. It went less than ten minutes and ended in a DQ when Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal interfered. Felt like a match Russo would have booked 25 years ago.
