From an alumna, great video! Made me miss JMU a ton. Just a tip for the younger students, good places to study are also found in Carrier. In the Stacks and on the top floor there is an 'eagles nest'. Hardly anyone goes into the Stacks... just a bunch of old books, really quiet. Do as much as you can in the next few years! JMU is a wonderful place to explore, try not to miss a thing! Good luck!
Hey! I just applied to JMU and this video was so helpful. It was hard finding videos dedicated towards JMU specifically and this was great. Thank you so much! I can't wait to find out if I get in!! #JMU2021 !!
JMU is the best college in the world!!! Go Dukes! I have season tickets in the 3rd row in Bridgeforth Stadium and I love going to Harrisonburg! I'm definitely going to JMU when I'm older! I go to the volleyball camp there every year and it is so fun! Thanks so much for this video!
I'm gonna be a freshman at JMU in the fall!! Thank you soooo much this video was insanely helpful!!

Hey, I am a sophomore now at JMU! I am really glad you put that video up because I am also wanting to put more videos up about JMU and college in general! Also, you can just use google map for the bus, so much easier! I like your video!
I'm an adult, returning to college after I have enough in savings. This video provided a decent amount of useful information, that I wasn't able to find elsewhere. Thanks, Jaja
Thanks, don't mention it. Now, if only I could get in contact with someone at the school, haha (they're taking forever, to respond; probably because it's admissions season.)
I graduated from JMU in 2008 and loved watching this! Aw, the memories! I also was a FrOG my sophomore year and it was a blast - definitely do all the stuff! ;)
I graduated from JMU in 2004, and your video brought back lots of memories, especially the Godwin death stairs and the hills. We didn't have E-hall when I went there. What sport do you play? I hope you continue to enjoy your time at JMU, those were the best years of my life! :)
hey! i stumbled upon this video bc I’m part of jmu’22. is it normal for freshman to carry around a map for the first week or so, bc I know that’s gonna be me in the fall .. 😂
It definately normal! You can also find a map on the website your phone is you don't want people to see you carrying around a map but honestly nobody cares lol. I'm a junior this year and i still have to look up where some buildings on the quad are.
Thank you so much for making this. I am planning on transferring to JMU from a community college next year and I have been doing some research on campus life such as what you presented in your video. So far nothing has been as informative as this. I actually learned a lot of things about JMU that I did not know. On your next video could you possibly include some info on transfer students and what their experience was like coming to JMU (if you know anyone that has chosen that path)? Again, this video is absolutely great! I will definitely be looking forward to more.
4:50 I've never been on a campus tour, but I've been to JMU Summer Band Camps (marching band) twice and having to climb all those hills to get from the dorms to the stadium across campus every day... especially painful when you have blisters all over your feet after a long day of marching band
I still have an extra semester but I don't plan to. I'm not really opposed to staying here for a little while longer but it's definitely not where I would like to live for the rest of my life.
Hi! I really don't know much about the Greek Life at JMU, but I knew a few girls who were going through recruitment last year and they never said anything about any form of hazing whatsoever. I would be extremely surprised if any did. I don't think you have anything to worry about!
Thank you so much! Im so scared that somethings going to happen, I looked it up and it said JMU has a strict anti hazing policy, but then I looked at some reviews and they said that they still do hazing but they do it under wraps
I feel like I've heard about it more with the fraternities rather than the sororities, but again, I really don't know much lol. When you get here ask around! I'm sure you'll be able to find someone who is more knowledgeable than me haha.
Well JMU was originally a women's college so there are definitely more girls than guys, but I don't really know of girls competing for guys lol. If you have to compete he's probably not worth it haha
Can I ask what your gpa was?? I'm a senior and I think mine is sort of on the bubble with a weighted 3.78 but I'm very interested in jmu. My sat scores are not great but I'm an awful test taker so I expected as much. Thanks!
Hi! sorry for such a late response, but I had a 4.6 GPA but I did not take the SAT. I took the ACT and I honestly can't even remember what my score was haha

i’m only in 7th grade and my sister just graduated here, and I neeeedddd to go to jmu!!! I love the campus and wish I can go there
This was so helpful! I might be young, but JMU is my dream to be! Let's go Dukes!

Oh cool! My mom also went to JMU and was always telling me about the death stairs lol! But I am on the track team!

LETS GET RATCHET
JMU Alumni from 2005 Here. Don't even know E-Hall. lol.
have you ever been scared at jmu? like walking alone or anything like that?
Rambling Rachel I️m a freshman at Jmu and i never feel scared walking alone. Everywhere is very well lit and there’s a lot of security.
I have never been scared walking around JMU. I walk alone all the time.

Clarinet Catato I've been there for a marching band competition once.
Did you move to the Burg after college?
I still have an extra semester but I don't plan to. I'm not really opposed to staying here for a little while longer but it's definitely not where I would like to live for the rest of my life.
Do you know if their soroities do hazing? I really want to join one but I'm really nervous

Thank you so much! If you ever hear anything please let me know! *****
you look so good!😍
I had a FROG named Kelly haha I wonder if it was her
Thanks so much for the advice! Can't wait for school this fall. Also super random but where did you get that light purple pillow on your bed?
I can't wait to go back either! And I've had that pillow for a long time but I think it was from kohl's or target.
Can you tell me the average class sizes please?
Ha! Mrs. Greens was great in the early 90s too!
ive heard that there are like a tooon of girls and barely any guys there. is this true? or do girls like have to really compete for a guy there?
Well JMU was originally a women's college so there are definitely more girls than guys, but I don't really know of girls competing for guys lol. If you have to compete he's probably not worth it haha

JaJaJantsen oh wow! That's amazing haha. I find out in a couple weeks if I get in so..fingers crossed!
Trust me my gpa is not that now lol! But good luck!
I'm coming to JMU in the fall! Thanks for the video :)
Awesome! You're going to love it! You're welcome it was fun to make :)
Thank you @JajaJantsen for bringing back the nostalgia through this video!
can you do a dorm tour??
I totally meant to do a dorm tour when my room was still decorated but since I move out sunday it's a mess right now! I'm sorry!
Were you in Skyline dorms?
yes! Freshman year I lived in Chesapeake and last year I lived in Shenandoah. Somehow I got lucky and had Skyline two years in a row haha
Get out of my town!
