Not a little bit down, a-lot-a-bit down in value bc of the engine issues 😭😭 copium in high amounts
What size tires would you recommend on 2024 limited 20s after 3 x 1 leveling kit?
No, thank you! Stay away from TOYOTA until they figure out the issue and fix it!
Cry more. Gm just recalled 800k trucks for engine replacements.
they already figured it out. ill trust Toyota engineers over any from GM, Ford, Chevy
Stop whining like a B
these clowns 🤡 paid 60k - 70k for these trucks now they have to down play the recalls and reliability now 😂😂
Overpriced and not reliable at all
They can’t give them away right now . Discount has entered the chat
Over 10K at some dealers
@@TRDJonoof dealers are refusing to fix them though ? Has Toyota said they have to yet ?
In dfw where I am at they are begging you to buy them. Every tv commercial is tundra with incentives. Metric tons of used ones piling up.
@@TRDJon that’s crazy people would be dumb enough to pay markup for these😂😂😂.
Markups have been done probably for like 6 months or so now. But yea not worth it
Freaking Toyota has lost their edge on the competition! Build a bunch of crap 💩 and try to sell it overpriced! What the hell were they thinking 🤔…
TRDJON is punching the air right now 🥊🥊
Not hate I love your channel but the new Tundra is a true piece of 💩
Definitely has its issues. 2nd gen had over 200K+ recalls too. But that’s what made it a super reliable truck 14 years later.
@@TRDJonit depends in what kind of recall was that. 250k recalls because of a motor failure is a model killer
I feel sorry for Toyota and its future! They did backwards progress with all these new cheap complicated stuff that they have shot their own foot for being greedy! What a shame
One thing I cannot understand is that they have all this time to test this engine, but ended up releasing this piece of flawed product to screw up the customers. Definitely shame on them
first they ruined the tacoma disposable truck, and now the tundra has bearing issues. i guess the new CEO of toyota isn't working out very well? what a shame. after 6 tacomas, i see a frontier in my future.
Enjoy dude!
TRD JON is officially a Toyota MARK can't trust this man anymore trying to save this POS truck.
Clearly you didn't watch the video....thank you for the pointless comment.
Oh no, my truck's engine is so bad it's going to fail. Huge discounts, blah blah blah. Not a single one for sale near me by owner; dealers are still asking 75k. It was the opposite just a year ago when you couldn’t buy one of these and dealers were adding 20k on top of MSRP for 'marketing adjustments' or whatever. Now, all of a sudden, nobody wants them and everyone is rushing to trade in. Dealers are just laughing at you people. They will tell you that they will not take your trade-in because of the recall, then suddenly, good news: my manager changed his mind and will give 30k for the truck that you paid 70k for, and give you a crappy Silverado. Then they will sit in the office and laugh at you. You people are so dumb.
Absolutely the worst time to buy a tundra. What good is 10k off when you have no peace of mind. If you have to lemon law the vehicle you're gonna lose thousands.
Everyone lemon lawingntheirs isn’t loosing thousands
Thanks for being level-headed! I agree with all your comments hear. I bought a 2024 1794 limited edition a month ago before I heard about the problems with the 3rd gen. I owned a 2014 1794 for 10 years and am disappointed in Toyota for getting rid of the V8, but I have to say, I love the way the 2024 drives. But I’m also angry about changes like the quality control issues others are reporting, obviously the recall, and the engine shutting off an hour of sitting , and there’s no override. But it seems to me that the reactions on social media are legit and also may be skewing things. (I sympathize with anyone that has issues, then it’s personal). But, First, it’s usually recommended to not buy first or even second year vehicles. The first gen Tundra had issues after it’s release. And, there wasn’t social media back then. But the problems I’ve had so far at 1600 miles are: the tailgate will not open, mechanical problem not electrical. With the stock bed cover, I can’t access the bed. Waiting on my appointment to get fixed. 15 mpg and I don’t have a heavy foot. And, not sure yet if it’s my foot, but every so often, it feels like the transmission may be hunting for gears when taking off. I’ve never had a vehicle do that, so don’t know. Jon, please get in touch if you want status updates on this limited edition version.
Dealers are literally refusing to accept trade ins on these Tundras. If dealerships aren’t willing to take them, why should consumers?
There is a stop sell on them. Why would they spend $$ on something they can’t sell?
I think you may be lumping them all into one category - it’s those affected by the recall that they typically won’t trade. I have a 24’ Limited that Liberty Toyota in Burlington NJ would let me trade back in a second. I have no plans to - I love it - but what you’re talking about seems to be the 22-23s affected. They can’t sell them, only new ones. @TRDJon is talking about buying new ones that would be hypothetically tradeable (assuming your dealership isn’t slimy).
Look really good going for recall. Everyone know how bad it is now so stop the selling pitch 😂😂
So the recall I literally mention 30 seconds in? Nice attention span
Tundra disaster and lots of issues with the 24 tacoma are popping up regularly, Toyota lots filling up with all their truck models , even with 20% markdown and 0% financing I wouldn’t touch one , never owned a vehicle that I couldn’t trade in when I wanted , won’t start now , unbelievable
Even with a 20k discount I wouldn’t buy that trash
I have the 2024 Toyota tundra platinum lots of wind noises on driver side
I have a 2022 Platinum wind noise but not all that noticeable
They replaced my seals and it’s horrible now. It’s like the window is cracked it so bad
@@TRDJonwhaaa it’s bad again??
My 2023 Platinum wind noise is better after they put new seals, but it is not quiet…window vibrates also.
what gas octane do you guys put in yall tundras? 87 or 91?
Under engineered bottom end L E M O N
Engineered to fail. Not engineered to last. Just part of the gov 1:13 t push to get everyone on electric. These failures are just starting to happen.
Rather than plop on another engine issue analysis comment, I can explain the lack of tow hooks. They were on the initial truck design, but were nixxed due to conflicts with the air dam extension. Why they couldn't mount them on the frame extensions higher up and block them off with removable access panels... ? Yet another casualty of compromise.
But because I can't leave well enough alone, nothing short of redesigning and rebuilding the crank girdle is going to fix these engines. Once again, a victim of trying to repurpose a car engine for truck use doesn't work that direction. I campaigned them to hybridize the 3UR with an electric motor on the flywheel, but lost that battle.
Thanks for sharing!!
toyota for some reason thinks its cool to have rattling in their vehicles, my camry is a constant rattle over slight to very rough roads.
My 2019 Tacoma was a POS rattle trap. Glad someone overpaid for its “perceived quality”. They didn’t ask if there were any unresolved mechanical issues from Toyota and I didn’t disclose them. No longer my problem. Best decision I made was dumping that truck.
It is 2024 why are car companies still using chrome in general…. looks awful on pretty much everything
Local dealers have top trims discounted $15,000 off. Just gonna ruin the resale values of these new Tundras
And that’s the big 3 in a nut shell right?
@@TRDJon But before they still held value? My 2019 Tacoma Trdpro Voodoo blue I could sell at the same value with 37K miles? These next gen Toyotas are pure garbage 🗑 😑 😒
A trd pro always holds its value. You don't see trd pro tundras 15K off. General trim levels yes
I won’t buy a Tundra anytime soon. The quality and reliability is bad and it has too many major issues.
Hopefully they fix it
Wouldn't touch a new Tundra with a 20-foot pole. Poor design. Poor quality. Poor workmanship.
Why would anyone ever buy this recall nightmare? Could potentially be without a truck for months waiting for it to get fixed. Should have kept the reliable V8 everyone loved! I'm on my 4th Tundra, a 2018 Platinum. It looks like my last one if they keep making the trucks with too many components that could eventually fail. V6 engine, twin turbos, hybrid motor, hybrid battery, and all the components to make it all work. With all the things mentioned above that could potentially fail, it looks like Toyota's Legendary reliability is a thing of the past!
The V8 that had over 200K recalls as well?
The engine design itself is fine on the 3rd gen and the systems are alright. The glaring issue is that open recall on engine. The 2nd gen had recalls but we are talking about labeling issues, improper power steering assembly possible causing leaks, etc. Things that can be fixed and out the door fast when compared to engine recalls.
Gotta disagree. Color matching makes it look cheap.
Toyota has Destroyed its own Truck Division…Anyone who buys a New Trundra now is throwing money away!!
The tundra was never really a great seller to compete with the big three unfortunately. I think that’s why the Tacoma was so much better thought out.
@@TRDJon that still remains to be seen. We'll have to see if any major problems arise from the Tacoma in a couple of years. Mexican Tacos aren't as good as Japanese
@@TRDJonToyota was trying to compete with the big 3, don’t you remember the commercials when the 2nd Gen was launched? Towing the Space Shuttle, biggest brakes in class, 4.30 rear. Their commercials highlighted all those big truck parts. Now, all you see is them driving a TRD Pro in the dirt or pulling a trailer. Fact is Toyota should be doing better.
Yea that was the second gen and they realized they can’t.
The 3rd Gen was built in MX too
Why are you telling us how nice the interior is when you have an absolute 🍋 under the hood?
Geez Jon didn’t those Toyota engineers test the tundra for a week in the sand like they did with the new Tacoma and then rubber stamp it for tested to 300 thousand miles , LoL , maybe I see the point of that ridiculous claim now , kool-aid time
It is a machining issue when they hit mass production.
I’m a big Toyota fan but as a current 2017 tundra owner this new tundra was a huge letdown period they turned the old rugged tundra into a lowered quality replacement and Toyota doesn’t do tech well at all like GM or Ram I wish they would have focused on there fan base with reliability and well built drivetrains and usability.
Who the heck in their right mind would buy one at this time ? Maybe the uninformed .
Just imagine it with a 5.7L V8. Wish we could back to multiple engine options on new vehicles. And I am not talking about hybrid vs non hybrid!
If you want engines choice have to go domestic
traded in my 24 SR Tundra for a 24 Tundra SR5 Premium, so far really loving the truck and all the extra features and stuff on it! Keep up the awesome videos man!
Really should’ve traded in your Tundra for a non-Turbo truck to avoid the massive engine failure issue. The Toyota dealers are refusing the trade-ins of the new Tundra due to this issue.
@@Marco-yl8cm nah no need to overreact. Chances are they'll be perfectly happy with their truck's engine.
@@Marco-yl8cm funny since i traded my Tundra in at a toyota dealership, dpn't know if its just certain dealers who aren't doing it but mine did and they've been good to me since ive bought multiple toyotas off them;
Will do man! Congrats on the new SR5! I’ll keep it going!
@@Marco-yl8cmYou read one article about a dealer supposedly refusing a Tundra as a trade-in. Relax, & please stop acting like a doomsday prophet. No one takes people like you seriously.
How about no, not investing money into this trash
Should read….. now’s the time to buy a ticking time bomb !
I’m a Toyota/Lexus guy I have a 4R and wife has the RX.
I don’t understand why anyone would buy a new Tundra when there are so many much better and more capable trucks out there for the same money.
My truck of choice is a GMC Sierra 2500HD with the Duramax diesel and Allison transmission. It tows my 30’ Airstream without breaking a sweat and rear bumper and payload is much higher to handle heavy loads, When not towing I get 23 mpg highway from a truck with over 900 foot pounds of torque. The new Tundra is a tinker toy in comparison. My GMC has given me zero issues.
New Tundra destroyed their reputation. I own 3 different Toyota's but won't buy the Tundra. Traded my 2021 Tundra on a Silverado. 3rd gen Tundra is crap in SR5-limited trim, no tow hook's, no bumper to get in, smaller bed and double cab is useless.
I mean the 2nd gen tundra had over 200K trucks recalled as well. So it’s nothing new for that. But yes, all the other items are a miss
Why couldn’t they just keep the V8 and pair it to a 10 speed tranny? Nobody wanted these over complicated turbo engines. And the Tundra front end is hideous.
Simply bolting the 10-speed to the 5.7 would help the way the engine feels, but wouldnt do much for fuel economy (especially highway) or emissions.
They just need to make it shorted
Why? Because of the government.
Unfortunately
@@KrysC-TX No. GM and Ford still offer a V8. It’s just that Toyota gets special tax credits for ditching them.
I sat in a Nissan titan pro4x and it felt high quality. It was fully loaded 51k after discounts and 0% interest. Not a Nissan fan but after Toyotas issues…
Yea I’d consider that truck very dated but hey, that’s a heck of a deal compared to all the expensive trucks out there!
My dad bought a 2002 Tundra back at the end of 2001. It has 220,000 miles on it, and I drive it quite often. Not only that, it also has almost no rust. It still has a very shiny black color. My dad plans on keeping it another 20 years. It will be a 40 year old truck with a 450,000 mile 4.7 V8!
The sky is falling.
Love my Platinum and all the bells and whistles. Definitely would like to grab an iforce max but, like you said.
When the refresh happens, I’ll be in line✅
Let’s hope so!
Just prepare for the huge loss in resale of that Platinum and you’ll be welcomed in that “refresh” line…
Get a great deal… then watch it crumble!
I do like how the tundra looks. It’s a shame about the engine issues.
Here's a thought. Get rid of your Tundra and marry your taco.
Taco is so good man.
There goes the resale argument
I will say my 2024 came with a step and I have the same exact truck that step makes it very easy to get into the back of the truck. I’m really surprised. I don’t see one on yours.
Mine has it. This one doesn’t.
Consider yourself lucky if don't own one. You don't want to be a unlucky one by buying and owning one.
Fix the engine issues, then make automatic running boards/bed step available on TRD off road package.
This is the first time I can remember that I would say avoid the Currant Toyota Tundra .. Engines are having too many CRITICAL issues..
Wait till your volume knob breaks off. You’ll love it.
Can't wait!
Ill say this, that center console rattle is pretty much the only thing that irks me about my 23 Limited. Absolutely infuriating as everyone rests their arm on the center console lid.
100% agree! I got it fixed on my old truck and it was solid. So maybe the dealer can swap out the lid for ya
Well, the engine is great until it blows up and leaves you stranded. Secondly these trucks are pretty ugly in my opinion, the grill is hideous. I’m not saying there are any beater choices because all new trucks seem pretty bad.
Knowing not how long before catastrophic problems will occur along with an unspecified downtime of vehicle. The fix is not in and with a possible patch job to get a buyer past The Warranty Period. No Way A Buy,as I need my truck is why I purchased it😦
Tundra Junk, LOL buy em now, so you can regret it later!!! It's that legendary Toyota reliability, Don't be stupid, just buy a Ford....
If the price is low enough people like me are willing to take calculated chances. lol Bought my wifes elantra at 17000 dollars CDN with 18000 miles. By the time it reaches 60000 miles she would have used it for about 8 years.
I bought the $67k SR5 with the $14k TRD Off-road Premium package with the 3’ lift.. Only issue I have is when the hit bumps, the truck interior rattles terribly. Bring it to the dealer, no fix.
Tried to trade it for a GMC Canyon AT4 and was offered $45k. Insane depreciation..
That seems VERY high for an SR5. My platinum was significantly less than that.
You guys are the problem.
Good review! I still like my SR and wouldn't go to another trim level, I haven't gotten any notification for my Tundra yet (2023) so I am in the wait and see crowd. If I get that job offer though I will be looking at selling it as I don't want a company tuck and payment all in the tight driveway!
I hope you get it man!
Chrome vs black is a trend, wait a few years it'll be back in style. ;)
Truck looks great!
Don’t buy a Tundra until they have a fix for the engine people for the love of god
Why not? Get a discount. Plenty of them running good
I just watched two 2022 Tundras with over 100000 miles and reported no issues so far
Yep there are a few on the FB pages
Same reason I’m not interested in a hybrid tundra no storage space under the rear seats. I’ll stick to my 2023 sr5 trd off road.
Modifications are a recipe for disaster. Lifting of truck can cause a multitude of troubles fifth front ends and drive train.🤔👎
Toyota's PR sucks! They should constantly communicate with Toyota owners on updates.
Hybrid is a joke. Way way to complicated for a quick boost of power. Give is a V8!
2024 Platinum, regular i-Force engine with air suspension package. Love the extra storage under the rear seat. Zero wind noise problems. Just turned 10k. Pretty sure it is just going to stop running one day while I am towing in the middle of nowhere. 😂 Seems about right. My sixth Tundra. I waited 3 years until they worked the bugs out. Should have waited another model year. Oh to have that 2020 back…
Thanks for sharing!
Should of stuck with a 2021. Their last real work truck. No man’s man buys a v6 full size truck,
You’d have to be a damn yuppie to buy a v6 full size truck. No man’s man would touch it.
Love your channel. Don't ride the ship down with these new Tundras.
Idk how it would be.
Drop prices by 15-20K and offer unlimited warranty on the engine. US build quality is on par with Mexico now.
US quality i feel is under MX
That’s a good a very good point and you see it first hand at all those launch events. They need to turn it around fast.
This was a great and honest review. I hope toyota is paying attention.
Thanks!
I bet Toyota longs for the days people were only complaining about the tow hooks.
lol
No way. The last V8 is THE one. TRD= only missing the U.
Great thing I’m using my head and being very careful about my next move. I was looking into getting a 2022 platinum and for some reasons I kept looking at it and then I saw open recall part on them. This is a life saving catch because i definitely was going purchase one. It’s such a bummer because this is such a beautiful beautiful beautiful unit! The interior design is just amazing I don’t like the colors they have chosen too much but I would just put a wrap on it. These trucks are way too expensive to not have a fix by now
Could probably get into a new 24 platinum for a good price
Why are trading your Tundras so often? Are you leasing.Your vehicles? Most Tundras owners keep their vehicles long after the Warranty is long gone. I’m spoiled from owning previous Gen Tundras and having Zero issues and not questioning if my Truck will breakdown and leave me stranded.😦. Keeping my 2016 Limited until Toyota gets their Crap together.👍
Nice! Enjoy!
Why does Toyota make white seats for trucks, even though they are unpopular and seem impractical?
No idea. Curious if it will last till 2025
Na, white or bone color seats are dope.
The reviewer never mentions anything about "HUGE DISCOUNTS". Typical Clickbait.
Yes I do. At the beginning of the video too. Thanks for watching…
I’m just waiting for the new 4runner to hit the dealership.
I’ve had a 22 platinum gas with air ride and didn’t really like it. So traded for 23 pro, and got a really good trade. Then about 4 months after I got the pro they released the 1794 limited. I was doomed😅. I really like this truck, it is the best of both worlds for me. I just hope Toyota stands behind there product?. I’m going to wait and see but right now I feel like I have a BMW or something, trade it before the warranty goes out…. And it should be criminal to pay what we pay for these trucks and they not have a bed step on every single truck. Good review John agree with about everything you said. Good Job!
Thank you man! I appreciate you watching and listening. Best of luck with the future models lol.
Blown motor variant.
@TRD JON…What size of tires and lift if any are you thinking about?
I have a 3" dobinsons lift and 37x11.5 tires on my tundra
Buy a 2021 Tundra instead!
Solid trucks for sure
Yeah…. Unstable engine…. BIG No No
Why would you even think about buying it the engine problem still exists with no fix as of yet.
Cuz not every truck is affected and they are at a killer discount
Sheldon Brown will bring back the V8 , AGAIN!!!!! HEwill make it have better gas mileage!!!!! He will have a 10 speed transmission!!!!! So together he will make the TUNDRA GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!

It seems like the 1794s are built better than the Platinum. Are they built in the same plant, same team?
Yes they are,
Don't worry SHELDON BROWN will make the TUNDRA GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!
My lot in life seems to be buy high, sell low. I got my 24’ in the beginning of March 😂. I put $35K down so I’m not paying interest on the whole thing but 1.99% would have been so nice.
Buy the V8 version. Toyota went downhill on all trucks. Disappointing.
That's exactly why I didn't get the hybrid because of the battery under the rear seat. I'm like you until Toyota figure out how to put the battery under the hood of the truck I won't be buying the hybrid.
Why are you concerned about a hybrid battery under the rear seat?
@ALMX5DP I'm not concerned about it. I don't care for the battery being under the rear seat. I love the storage that's why I bought the non-hybrid.
@@torianowarren3684 ah gotcha wasn’t sure what you meant by under the hood since competitor like the F-150 has its hybrid battery under the rear floor and has the same interior space as the non hybrid.
one word: run
To buy the truck? Absolutely not. To lease the truck? Absolutely YES
I don’t hate Toyota by any means but the F-150 is so much better of a truck
The dealer can turn off the fake V8.
Yep!
Just recently got a 2024 Tundra hybrid limited and it’s awesome. Just those chrome are painful to my eyes. Any links and discounts for a chrome delete set? Want to know your thoughts on a pedal commander for my hybrid limited. Should I get it for my Tundra or not?
Thanks. More power Jon 🍻
I don't think you need one at the moment. The truck has plenty of power.
The tundra has such a weird design ethic
Inside and out
Best way I can describe it is confused
Like the designers were conflicted and could never quite agree on an outcome
You think so?
@@TRDJon a truck is at least based on a commercial vehicle concept
So styling should be purposeful and clean not busy
The tundra is busy
It also looks like it is truck that has been lowered and looks so much better lifted.
If you get the Carista ODB2, you can toggle various things on/off including turning the “fake exhaust” sound off. This is what I did with my Pro.
I turned it off on mine.
