Thank you for doing the right thing. She is at peace now and no longer in pain. I’m so sorry you had to make that hard decision. You are such an inspiration 🤍🕊️
Your story needs to be shared throughout the horse world. Additionally, advocacy in Zurreal name to stop the sale of Auctions, slaughter pipelines and the way horse are trained. I honor you and admire your decision and brave stance that using positive reinforcement is the best choice of training all horses. God Bless you and prayers for your broken heart. Haters gonna hate. Stay on your journey and path. 💔🐴🙏Your doing the right thing.
@@chuckthebrindlepittie6820 What? If you’re responding to the comment above 👆 I believe you completely misunderstood the point of his/her comment. Mustangs are shipped DAILY for slaughter. That comment did in no way compare the ending of Surreals suffering from shipping from auction to slaughter.
Watching this video was both heartbreaking and educational. It reminded me to cherish the time we have with these magnificent creatures and honor their legacy through what we learn. Thank you for sharing this with care and compassion.
Oh my. Many of us horse lovers are bawling right now. Including me. How could you not ? I applaud you for putting Zurreals pain over your own. That’s a true equestrian!!! ❤️💯🐴
😢 This is so sad. I am so sorry for you. Your heart must be broken. Thank you for sharing and spreading awareness on ethical and compassionate euthanasia for horses. 🙏
It is so sad. Zurreal was loved by millions, most of whom never met her. We purchase horses without ever knowing what they have gone through. When I got my kids' pony, I vowed I would never sell her. When the kids got too big, I retrained her to drive. Thus giving her a job. She died last year with me and her 2 last riders loving over her. To those who berate you, know that your horses will have a better start and understanding to what is expected of them. Fly high Zurreal 😢😢😢
I can only imagine how hard it must have been for you to make this video and I am so sorry for your loss! When you read your vet’s note I was in tears. Thank you for making the video to advocate for horses. We need to do better by them and to always keep their well-being at the forefront of all of what we do. Looking back many years ago at the beginning stages of the horse training I did - I definitely would do almost everything different, too. It is a learning process of course. Yet we can learn from each other so that more horses can have a fair and loving training environment.
Anyone who buys a mustang at auction should be required to keep track of who they sell to and report those records to either the bureau of Land Management or another agency. So if anything happens to those animals between where they went and where they wound up then the people who are responsible for injury and or neglect can be held criminally liable.
This was heartbreaking to watch..so sorry that you and Zurreal had to go through all of this. This was also very educational and I hope it helps people understand horse anatomy and this story. She found her way back to you for a reason..you listened and helped her not be in constant pain anymore..not without trying everything first. Thank you for sharing what happened. Your love for each other is forever 💖
I'm so sorry for your loss. I am 12 years old, and I have started to train wild horses. You have taught me so much my training. You have also taught me that wild horses are not simply going to yield respect me and feel comfortable.😢 with that being said I feel like I have trained such better ways in my horses. I've gotten more comfortable with me.
Poor horse. Taken from the wild and broken by human hand. 😢 Whoever hurt her deserves a punishment. I wish wild horses in USA could remain wild and not rounded by humans. Sorry for your loss. 💔
Thank you for sharing you experiences. I am an adult beginner, and your videos have really helped me see that there are other ways to enjoy horses. You did right by Zurreal, especially since you were her first human. I've always loved the mustang makeovers, but I see now how hard they can be for the trainers and horses. It was nice to see Mustang Champions go with a year long format. I know you need time to heal. If you are able to make a video in the future about your thoughts on mustang makeovers, and mustang adoptions, I'd love to watch it. Keep on being an advocate, a crazy horse lady, cookie monster, ect. Show us all that there are better ways. 🧡
I am so very sorry . Thank you for sharing your story of beautiful Zurreal with us . Your videos comfort many of us who have known sorrow 😔🐴 and I thank you 🥹 ❤️🩹 🙏🏻 ✨🐴✨
Thank you for sharing your hard but so important story. It's given me comfort having just said goodbye to an old dog of ours, and inspiration for the future when I hopefully am able to get horses again. Much love to you.
I love your training methods. I started watching you when you first started the positive reinforcement trying with Zareal and I had a bad feeling when she got auctioned off, but I know you loved her and your further training has brought you good milestones. Can't wait to see Zinny and your other girl learn and grow with you. So sorry about Zareal, but glad she was able to say goodbye with you
When I was a teenager I was put in charge of 7 horses. One was a sweet , but extremely old mare. At a certain point she started losing weight and nothing we did stopped it. One morning we found her laying down and we had to get a backhoe to lift her up. The vet suggested putting her down, but in the end I was the one who had to make that decision. I’ve felt guilty ever since. Always wondering if she might have recovered if I’d done something more/better. This video made me realize, there was nothing more I could have done for her.
I love everything you shared at the end about committing to education and making better choices as we learn. Thank you for sharing this part of your story with us, it’s heartbreaking, but beautiful and will help a lot of people.
She was a strong lady, even if you didnt fully understand her in 2021, you learnt so much! She taught you what she needed and left this earth happily knowing you will be okay and many other horses will be thankful for her and you! ❤ rest in peace zurreal!🌸🤍
I litterly started crying because this same thing happens to me but I only knew this horse for about a year and he had the sweetest personality and he was unique in his own ways I would do anything to see him one more time . The vet thought he was gone made it but just as we were getting him fresh hay my friend ( the owner ) ran to her❤ mom and the vet and said he was not breathing. He died with a smile on his face and he will never be forgotten ❤😊
😢😢😢 Bless you for your courage, commitment, and love. You are an inspiration to keeping an open mind and heart for growth and change in a world of glorious animals ❤️
It is very honest of you to post this video of your struggles and pains throughout your training experiences. Sharing this information may be hard, but benefits your watchers by educating them on very important information, and situations that we might have all experienced if we had not seen this video....thank you so much for being strong and caring for your viewers!
Your a good person, and brave too this was an incredibly hard choice for you to make but it was the right one and I admire you so much for it. She’s happier now.
This is absolutely heart breaking. It makes sense why you have become the trainer you are today. I don't believe in harsh training methods either. Thanks for your insights. I would hate to have that decision to make 💔 these horses are communicating pain. I would love to learn more from you and your journey. I did positive reinforcement this summer with a trainer, and it didn't end up working..... that horse I rehomed with someone else who thought they had what it takes and they weren't a harsh trainer by any means. I spent so much time training that horse, never to make a break through. Maybe it was something medical. Maybe I don't understand positive reinforcement. It's hard to pick up a new training method and learn all over again, as I'm sure you are well aware. Would love to learn more from you and your methods! Grateful you had this experience and were humble enough to learn from it, instead of blaming the horse. You are an inspiration, and I am deeply sorry for your loss 💔
I’m so very sorry for your loss and I commend you for being Zurreal’s voice in doing what was best for her even though it was super difficult for you! Bless you and keep going… you’re making a difference every day ❤️
You did the right thing for her. She will never forget you and will always be grateful for the love you gave her. Without you it’s very possible she never would have made it. Thank you so much for giving her such a good life. Fly high Zurry! Because of you I’ve started R+ and made much better bonds with all my horses. We don’t miss the old you, but we appreciate this change so much more than you know. Just relies there are thousands and thousands of people who love you, look up to you, and never stop supporting you! I was going to put that quote at the end but the vet beat me to it.
Everybody should train horses the way you do. You did everything you could for her, and I'm completely sure those last months with you were her happiest months in a long time (or maybe even her whole life). You inspire all of us to be better for our horses Marina. Never stop being yourself. I know it's hard right now, but know that there are people who support you
Thank you for sharing your story. I appreciate the explanation about her issues. I, too, have changed my training methods over the years. I apprenticed for 3 years under a trainer who used harsh and quick training methods. Once I branched out on my own, I met John Lyons and he exposed me to a totally different approach. Since then I began to use clicker training and I now use positive reinforcement 100%. I also get flack from folks who don't agree or understand my methods. I am so glad she is no longer in pain. Keep up the awesome work that you do. God bless you for all that you do.
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry for you, I have never even seen your channel on RUclips but when it popped up on my screen, I knew I needed to watch it. I am so sorry, but you did the best thing for Zurreal and were a great owner I'm sure, you took things slowly and realized it was probably time for Zurreal to be in peace, that note from the vet was so lovely, hopefully it supported you a bit. It is truly one of the hardest things to have to go through saying goodbye to a loved pet, Fly high beautiful Zurreal. Xx
At every step of the way you tried your best to do right by her. Your methods and your approach evolved as your knowledge grew. She was lucky to have you!! Thank you for sharing your evolution and the difficult and heart breaking parts with us!
Greatest love is where you place them before you. It because of people like you, that I have also change my training ways. I also no longer do harsh training and I honestly have a true bond with my girls. Thank you
Oh my goodness.... I started watching you when you got Zurreal as I was watching all the mustang makeover videos I could find. I've seen so much of your journey that you have shared on RUclips. This Video had me crying.... I am so sorry for your loss, and I love the heart of gold you have. Zurreal was truly blessed to have you. I LOVED being part of your R+ part one training and I love where and how you have shifted in your training practices... Thank you for what you are offering to the equine world. It is so important. Hugs
Oh Zurreal. Fly high love ❤ Marina, you are such a huge inspiration to me and I love watching your videos. I am re training one of my dads older horses that is scared of people and I’m using positive reinforcement and he is doing so much better already. Thank you and I hope you find comfort❤
Hello Maraina! I am so sorry to hear what happened. It breaks my heart to hear that you lost Zurreal and Zina within a couple months. I will pray for you and I hope you know that Zurreal is in a better place. She is galloping in the greenest pastures, and keeping a reassuring eye on you. I can tell she loved you and you and your horses were her everything. I know how much it hurts to loose a horse. Let 2024 be a reminder that, in order to grow and continue with your life, you must let some of the parts of your life go. I hope you are doing okay and have a great year. God bless!
Zurreal was beyond fortunate that you searched for her and brought her home and did all you could…making the ultimate selfless decision for Zurreal 💜💜💜
So sad. That had to be the hardest decision that a lot of people wouldn't understand by "looking" at her. So sorry. I also think it's great that you grew in your method of training and embrace what you feel is right for your babies regardless of what others think/say. There are so many ways and so many factors that have a part and no one right way. People never seem to comprehend that in every facet of life or it takes a lot of time to finally realize. You do what works for you and your beliefs, and the way you've grown is beautiful. (I don't Train like you, but I can absolutely respect it and see it works. If it works and no one gets hurt, its correct! You were zurreals angel!
Omg 😦 I am so sorry for what happened to you, I know what it feels like as I had to do the same thing to my cat who has been with me for my whole life.He was on a lot of pain of age and bladder infections we decided to as well put him to sleep and end his suffering. I truly am sorry for what happens to your horse as I absolutely love them and would know how hard it is to put such an elegant and majestic creature to sleep. Wishing you all the best of luck and a new start to 2025. Fly high Zurreal xx ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this. All the pain will go away soon. This has changed the way I’ve looked at training. I went to horse Trina to take lessons and she didn’t not use positive we enforcement so sad. and my dad is currently at a horse show so a horse auction and we are looking for the perfect right now and I will always use positively enforcement. This has made me change how I looked at the subject thing. Thank you and I know.Zu will be galloping in heaven and she’s out of her pain now I hope you pain heal soon. I’ll be praying for you.❤😭
I am so sorry for your loss. You made the right choice. She peaceful and free of pain in heaven. The Vet was right. You are a true inspiration. No matter what people call you, keep doing what makes you happy and comfortable when dealing with horses. Positive reinforcement is an amazing way to not only train horses but to earn their trust instead of forcing it. Always remember God is with you and He will protect you. 🩵 Fly high Zurreal 🕊️🕊️
I’m so sorry for your loss! I am amazed and touched by your love for her and awareness of what she was going through. You took such good care of her and made a decision out of love that was devastating for you but ultimately best for her. Thank you for sharing your story. It is important for people to understand this concept when caring for animals. ❤
Im so sorry for your loss but i hope you know that you made the right decision and i think the fact that you had so much love for her that you were willing to give her the biggest hug you could really shows that. thank you for what you do and your ambition to show the next generation of horse trainers that they font have to be so harsh. i don't think your a snowflake or a snack lady, I think you are a true Horse person. your not in it for the ride and you can truly see that. thank you so much for your content and continue doing what you do. my best wishes to you and Kazi. Fly high Zurreal!
You have been in my thoughts and prayers since you posted that you lost Zurreal- This breaks my heart but I admire that you ended her suffering by being willing to take on your own. Blessings!
On Christmas, we had to put down our 25 year old mare, she was my mothers best friend, she had a great bloodline and had amazing foals, we will miss her ❤
This channel was a large factor in my decision not to hard tie horses. I want to have the horse’s wellbeing in mind and try to avoid preventable injury during handling.
I don't want to share my story but it had a similar outcome as yours. I received the same compassion, reassuraurance and kind note from my vet. You gave Zurreal the best gift you could - freedom from pain. May Zurreal run free, alongside my sweet mare Pip, and all those loved, cherished and let go by their beloved humans who tried to do everything right for them. (Edited because typos)
I have followed you for a long time, I originally started following you before you moved down south and only had Kazi. I’m so sad about zurreal….. she was very special to me as well. You have sparked a love in my head for mustangs. I’m praying for you 💕
I am so sorry for you and Zurreal but I am so glad you had the courage to share this so honestly. I've been through something similar and come to the same conclusions.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Glad you did the right thing. I wish people would extend this kind of grace to humans. If a human is in constant, unfixable pain, and they talk about wishing they could die to finally be out of pain, people gasp and say don't think like that you have to be positive, and maybe even rush the person to the psych ward. No one deserves to be in constant pain. Not an animal or human. We should all have the right to opt out.
Well all i can say is I'm 12 and i own 11 horses they have 2 herds we want them to be in one big herd which might happen I'm glad you tried your best and did what the best thing was to do i understand what it's like every time someone says that they had to put their horse down it reminds me of one of my horses hurt himself i was 5 or 7 and i just screamed to not do it and to him to not leave me i cried all night and all day i knew it was the best but i didn't i was scared of losing him and i lost him right in front of myself i cried and said i wanted to go with him i know understand what it's like and every time i hear or read a story like this i just cry but I'm really glad that you cared for her
Hello, my name is Kaidance. I'm using my dads account to post a comment here since I'm only 10, I'm very sorry that your horse had to be put down , I will pray for you , that you feel better , and I wrote a letter for you but I don't know where to send too, again I'm so sorry for your friend Zurreal .
Zurreal was lucky to have crossed your path twice. You are a very good horse owner. I’m heartbroken for you
Omg 😦 I am so sorry for what happened to you, I know what it feels like as I had to do the same thing to my cat who has been with me for my whole life.He was on a lot of pain of age and bladder infections we decided to as well put him to sleep and end his suffering. I truly am sorry for what happens to your horse as I absolutely love them and would know how hard it is to put such an elegant and majestic creature to sleep. Wishing you all the best of luck and a new start to 2025. Fly high Zurreal xx ❤❤❤
It’s never easy no matter what!! She’s now pain free.
So sorry - we loved watching you with her and your journey with that sweet mare - thanks for sharing her journey with us
Thank you for sharing this.
Fly high Zurreal 🕊️🕊️
We're here for you, Marina. ❤
Fly high, Zurreal. You are so loved. 🕊❤
Even though it is hard to put your animal down you made the right choice.
You have been in my thoughts and prayers since you posted that you lost Zurreal- This breaks my heart but I admire that you ended her suffering by being willing to take on your own. Blessings!
On Christmas, we had to put down our 25 year old mare, she was my mothers best friend, she had a great bloodline and had amazing foals, we will miss her ❤
I’m so sorry losing a friend like that must’ve been hard.
Fly high zurreal ❤🕊️she will be missed
I'm so sorry for your loss. She will always be with you.
This channel was a large factor in my decision not to hard tie horses. I want to have the horse’s wellbeing in mind and try to avoid preventable injury during handling.
I didn’t expect to cry. 😞
😢 I knew I was going to💔
I don't want to share my story but it had a similar outcome as yours.
I really agree with this. I wish that was an easier option for terminally ill patients. Sometimes more time isn't worth it.
I thought she got ill, it was way worse, I’m so sorry for you. Zurreal is in no pain and a petter place ❤
She's not in pain anymore and and she's happy
