We need the Prof Naituli alone. The other wakili guy is not material for the hot seat, he is not thinking and speaking objectively.
Prof Gitile Naituli talks lots of sense always. He has always seen beyond our politicians. Kk government is just in a relationship with Kenyan's that is one sided. As Kenyan's we are tired.disband this all system now.

The fundamentals of the housing levy,the core of the charade, raising money was not dealt.its still unconstitutional,it must fall on the sword of law just as it did before
According to Kanchori we need public participation for mama mboga; explain issues diplomatically and stop military style approach when implementing ETIMs, but when it comes to housing levy, he boards a plane to Singapore and forgets diplomacy.
I highly value the professor's transparent and clear discussion. However, I believe it would have been more impactful without the other gentleman, who seems to be a government spokesperson attempting to sanitize unlawful and over-taxing government actions.

Eric, CT, Ndu thank you for the quality of your program. But I have had it with Kenyans - especially those always in "government defence" mode inspite of bad policy. This conversation illustrated so well the ailment in Kenya - we are educated talkers, but have no courage or will power to do what is right and follow through. The thing that needs courage and will power to tackle is CORRUPTION. BUT NOBODY DOES IT. So it is useless for examples to be given about how other countries do what Kenya is attempting to do, because those countries do not tolerate corruption. So this is just Kenyan political posturing 60 years on ...in 60 years, Kenya has only had about 15 years of scattered serious policy and implementation - 1963-1968; 1979-1983; 2002-2007. The exact dates may be argued, but basically corruption has eaten up ALL THE OTHER YEARS. That js why Kenyans have no trust in government collection of taxes or financial integrity.
This is exactly correct. It does not matter what is magnificent project is cooked up and implemented, if there is rampant stealing of public funds we are wasting our time.

Prof, Gitile what is the use of all plethora of taxes, that we pay i.e taxation like income tax, excise tax, VAT, license for every transactional business with Government services. It's unfathomable, to say the least. And as you said, who qualifies to own homes or houses being built by the Gava?

Kanchori over taxation is punishment to citizens. The rich elite do not feel the burden. So keep on over taxation.
If the government create environment for investment, people will be employed and buy their own houses.

The small businesses are tail end vat payers. They pay full 16% and don't claim vat.
It's a very ignorant and misleading statement.
The problem we have in Kenya is paying for what my taxes should be doing for us. Example. Public health is not working we have to go to private hospitals, public schools not working we go to private. This makes many people not to see the reason to pay the taxes. We are going to pay for SHIF and yet the public health system is in chaos. There is no amount of communication and education about taxes that will work without a responsible government. Renovating state house with Billions of shillings... the government needs to get its act together before forcing everyone into a tax bracket or increasing taxes. Otherwise people will avoid taxes as much as they possibly can.
We do not need houses, we need to improve the economics of people and they will buy houses themselves.

KK priorities are so misplaced. How are people buying houses with no jobs, hospitals with no medicine and equipment, no free schools, no roads no electricity, no security?

Incentives the private sector to construct these houses and the government can subsidize first time home buyers by subsidizing, and insuring mortgages like the USA gov does!

The Govt lacks pple with brains. On the ETIMs it should be gradual bit small and chew fine until you have everybody in the tax bracket. But Ruto ni kifua mingi

Why do some people talk about stuff they don’t understand or in other words lie? Kanchori either doesn’t know that the government of Singapore owns all land or He’s a liar! The Singapore government, builds and leases the houses to its citizens for a 99 year lease. The lease is non transferable to relatives or anyone else for that matter but your keen is on top of the list when the house is available. What KK government is doing is creating a situation that will bring about numerous legal challenges in the future. You can’t give public land to private individuals who build using public funds and then sell the houses to private citizens!!
