Hi everyone, and welcome to the Timeless History Channel with me, Deric, aka Sao, the Omega Enthusiast. If you dig deep enough, you will find some interesting and unique vintage timepieces on the market. In this episode, I want to share one of Omega's most controversial, mysterious, and rarest timepieces: the Omega Synchro Beat, also known as the pre-quartz era ticking second mechanical watch. That's right; it's not battery-operated but a manual wind watch that ticks.
After watching this video, please comment below with your opinion.

Thank you to an Instagram follower who corrected my error on this episode. I recently worked on a few watches and got the case design mixed up with another watch. The bezel on this watch can be removed. The bezel must be popped open to remove the movement and dial.
The deadbeat seconds complication is a fascinating horological backwater.
Absolutely 👍
Excellent video and what a watch.
Many thanks! More great videos to come!
The JLC Geophysic is one of my favorite JLCs
thanks for the interesting and informative video, regards Geoff from Merimbula Australia
You’re very welcome and thank you for the comment.
Great, thanks D. I had no idea this watch existed, but then again, I am a novice. I do like the look of the watch as well as its rarity - pleasing dial, nice 50s chunky case, and of course that crazy second hand. I am glad that someone like you owns the watch to make sure the movement is well taken care of. Thanks again, and congratulations for snagging one of these.
Good question!
The dial is quite interesting, but I would like it more if Omega used different hour indexes. I do like the case design very much. Honestly, if I am not interested in a piece, I will still buy it so I can create a video about it and resell it afterwards. This is one method I can keep up with and continue to afford to make these videos.
Thx for sharing It is truly a gem that very few know of its existence Congrats and take care of it Regards from Mexico
Many thanks for the comment. It was an honour to create this video to share and educate everyone about this special piece.
Wow! Never seen a video of this watch
Now you do! 😉
Fascinating Sao! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fascinating video. Finding a Unicorn and being able to work on it must be extremely rewarding.
It was! Thank you for the comment
I don't like quartz movements because they are battery powered, but I do like the fact that their second hand stops on every marker. This provides a reassuring sense of precision. For the same reason, I really appreciate dead beat seconds mechanical watches. While the Rolex Tru-Beat and the JLC True Second are well known, I was really excited to learn about this Omega. Thank you for this review.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. This was a must-create video, as before owning this watch, I could not find any video explanation of how the calibre 372 works.
Goodness. I have one of these in a box and I didn’t even know it was rare.
I had better check it over and quickly list it for sale whilst it’s hot and there is some interest as I never liked it.
Always thought it looked like a cheap quartz watch.
Who knew !!
there is also a JLC geophysic true second . nice too
Yes, and if you study the train system in the JLC, it is very similar to the Omega 372 caliber.
What a treat, to see this beauty. Movement is absolutely amazing, so clean... thanks for education on this and showing us this rare Omega...
Looked a little big on your wrist, would look better on mine😂
Hahaha. Nice try mister. 35mm fits perfectly on my wrist.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel Have to try;)
I almost fell for it! 😆
ALL the mivements on his watches are immaculate !
I'm picking mine (1956 model) up in Spain after 4 months, for a service. I'm going to ask the watchmaker, if I can look inside, before I pay ! I bet most people don't. It better be shiny !
Sao you keep on showing us the most fantastic vintage Omegas. How do you keep finding them?
My secret time traveling machine haha
I've never really thought about it before....
Aren't all tall-clocks and wall-clocks like this ?
How much do you want for it?
Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, it is not for sale.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel lol I didn’t think so 👍🏻😜
For example; one tick/second at a time, like a clock ?
You’ll need a clockmaker to explain precisely how the clock mechanism works. Haha. I would describe it as similar but with different gear designs and setups.
