    Absolutely wonderful explanation and demonstration! More than what's said is how it's said. Like many subjects it can be challenging to get to the 'Meat without choking on the Bones'
    Thanks for your video

      You're very welcome! I try very hard to make my analogies and explanations clear and concise. Visualizations, and picturing what we want to have happen is so important when we are working with horses.

    Brilliant teacher Jack! So packed with helpful tips & sensible explanations.
    How do I get my horse so soft, pertnered & responsive?? Yr horse is so calm & relaxed in everything you do. Is groundwork the key??? Teaching everything on the ground first? In-hand work??
    My horse is so so anxious & rushing. Have been working on this issue for ages. I just cant get her soft & responsive. I'm back into ground work with her again & try for very light gentle riding. no contact. Soft rein. Soft seat. Have trouble keeping my legs under my hips. Chair seat struggles - ever trying. Am i on the right track with this approach do u think. Any big tips?? Love yr work & Paula too 🐎💖🙏

      Thanks for your kind words! Confidence in the horse and rider is a big part of the equation. It is important that we work on manageable bite size pieces of riding/horsemanship and set everything up for success. Make sure your saddle will allow you to ride in a centered position otherwise riding will feel forced and you will be behind the motion of your horse (out of balance). The rider needs to also be supple and flexible particularly in the hip flexor this can be achieved through stretching out of the saddle work. We also must have good core strength to give us stability and effective use of our aids. Maybe we will see you at a clinic sometime otherwise we offer a variety of online videos and products that address this very topic. Much of the time the biggest improvements we can make in our riding is when we work on ourselves off the horse.

    is coil synonymous with energized or prepared?

    • @ArtOfTheHorseman
      @ArtOfTheHorseman  Год назад

      I would consider energized and prepared to be a good way to describe the mental and emotional state of coiling. There is also the physical aspect of coiling (gathering up the physical body). Coiling or gathering is not as much weight bearing on the hindquarters as collection. Hope that helps. Thanks!

    So how would you get the right hindquarters under for the left canter lead?
    Thank you
