He's brilliant. With Rowan Atkinson, it's not so much the joke, it's the CHARACTER that makes it fun. He doesn't play the comedy, he IS the comedy. You could ask an actor to do the same and it wouldn't work. The same way you can ask Rowan Atkinson to do anything and it WOULD work. It takes someone who is humorist at heart to pull this off.

...so Not the Nine O'clock News creates some awesome comedy: fantastically subversive, cutting political satire, great puns and beautiful slices of observational humour and your "best scene ever" is a bit of Mr. Bean-esque slapstick?!
How can anyone compare this to Charlie Chaplin? That is, sorry to say, idiotic. It's not that he is walking into a tree, it is HOW he does it. And THAT is brilliant. And UTTERLY different from Sir Charles.
