Thanks for the transparency, Hamilton. I have looked at it several times since the launch and ultimately decided to start with something smaller and stand-alone to make sure I have a good understanding of how it all works. As a side note, I am thinking of starting a RUclips channel myself and have spent a lot of time, probably more than I should have, trying to figure out the time commitment of producing videos. I appreciate the fact that you put that little bit of extra information at the end.

I received mine last week and ran the same sort of test last night with white oak. I buy off cuts from a local hardwood mill and had s2s .9”. I ran six passes at 10 IPM 100% on the first run and it was nearly through the board. Very impressive cut and I think I could have pushed faster.
Great video transparency and congrats on the laser. Look forward to learning this and watching you share more great content.

Great video Hamilton I just bought the 24 watt to go with my Elite woodworker. Now I just have to use it.

Jtech gave me buyers remorse, Hard to give them another shot. I bought the 7 watt one when it first came out. under the impression it could cut well. I ended up getting a 10W Xtool for 1/2 what i paid for my 7W. i miss the workspace my onefinity gives but that 7W was not cutting it very well.

Hey Hamilton! Just a headsup, be cautious when filming lasers, I think you can damage the sensor on your camera. Especially when cutting metals on an angle, and the laser is reflecting direct into the sensor.

6:33 that is a great way to look at learning how to use a new tool.
How can this hurt me. As long as you learn and understand that upfront, any learning from there on you can experiment and try things that would work for you, even if not 'how they were meant to be used'
    Great tip!

These high powered diode laser modules are optically combining the beams of a few lower power diodes. I believe the your 24W has four 7watt diodes.

I have a onefinity but I went with a stand alone laser because I would have to build a seriously large enclosure to deal with the fumes if I had to enclose the onefinity.

Hay Hamilton order a set of fan gaskets for your 24w, JTech recommend them when I was having an issue an called them. Gaskets almost make it whisper quite.

I know J Tech advertises this as a cutting machine. However, can't you lower the output and perform some engraving? I would think having this would be the best of both worlds not the 14 watt laser. What are your thoughts?

    • @bradthesing
      @bradthesing Год назад

I've got the same question! Or more so, could you go with a 24 watt and turn the power down to and do engraving with quality on par as a 7 watt? Would be able to obtain the most efficient cutting capabilities and yet still do detailed engraving?

Cheese brought me here to make this comment (Spencley Designs reference). Anyhow, I love your videos. I too am a woodworker, and your content has brought me a lot of motivation and inspiration. The first video of yours I saw was the torture test on your journeyman. Keep it up the good work!

I have a separate smaller laser I use for customizing my wood products. I don’t want to disturb my CNC from making projects. I use a cheaper laser with much less power and it complements my business.

Hi there. Thanks for the great video explaining how the laser I have is completely inadequate lol. I joke, I have only just set up my 1F X50 woodworker, and I have the 7watt laser to go with it. I was wondering if the test grid you have on your website would be suitable to use with my machine? I am very new to using the 1F, and CNC equipment in general (I am an old school engineer), so any advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks in advance.

FYI Watts is power and Optical power is in watts but you want to have the highest optical power. Vendors who are interested in sales more than customer use the power rating of how much heat loss rather than the optical power.

"metal" - tinfoil is not metal. Try something small with CO2 laser like Omtech Polar or Gweike Cloud II (for about $3000) and then you can see low-power cutting and decent speed, not a charcoal maker.

Tinfoil not metal. That’s interesting tinfoil is rolled out aluminum and that seems to me to be …..well….a metal…. But hey why not just go to plasma cutter because we all know if you don’t have a plasma cutter you ain’t cuttin’ metal (yes a bit of sarcasm)

for me personally it's not powerful enough. seems ok for woodworkers. too weak for metal.
