Her live performance here is one of the most beautiful and emotional I've ever seen. Her pain, her sadness, and her hope are so clear in this ... but the harmonica is a poor substitute for the powerful piano that is unmistakable in the studio recording. SHE's terrific !

I honestly love you she sang on somebody's show on 75 or 76 . I was 12-13. Thats when I got all mushy and googly eyed over her. My first girl crush. Sometime after I had a dream about her. My father working in the little garden in back of our house. I walk up to my dad and say can me and Olivia get married? He says sure, took her hand went skipping down the driveway to the road all excited to go tell my friends I'm going to marry Olivia Newton-John. And then..... the sad morning came.

Great rendition, so heartfelt and so emotional, despite some rough patches hitting the high notes at the very end...the first time she tries it and succeeds brilliantly it made me choke up and I had a tear rolling down...she still has it, it's just not as reliable as it used to be. It's hard to watch our faves age, (I guess we're not getting any younger either) but she will always be my number 1. She can really do no wrong. Thanks so much for posting this!

I fell for her when I was 18 and saw her in a pair of skin-tight jeans. I was in love and subconsciously was on the lookout for a spouse just like her. Luckily I found my skin tight double and married her. Just got lucky I guess. But then again nothing else was going to do. I'm 69 now and during the lock down I discovered Sam. I've been playing it over and over and over again. I'm in love again.
Not bad for someone in her mid 50s. Such a genuine sweet lady from a bygone era. I feel I may have lost something essential in my pursuit of coolness since my youth.
+daveheel 2003. Her first Japan Tour in 25 years. I was there. Couldn't stop crying throughout the concert. I must say she sounds way much better here than 27 years before when she recorded SAM. Mature, confident and in full control of her vocal skills.
I think so too:-) I saw her perform a gorgeous extended version of Sam with a huge orchestra many years ago and it was truly MAGICical:-) I don't think she's ever gotten her due as a vocalist.
