You told me everything I needed to know. I was trying to decide between this and the one with the round hopper because they are around the same price but this has more capacity. However its easy to see why its the same price because its not constructed as well. BTW you shouldn't have to rebuild the product but you could put a piece of metal backing behind the plastic with a cut out for the screw and reassemble it and it should catch the screw and allow you to tighten it. Thanks!
One hack would be to add a second control to operate the edge blocker from up top. Could you reuse the old control for that? Love the hopper cover at the end. LOL
Thanks for your review. I bought the 90950 snow melt spreader for last winter and was sorely disappointed getting it going. I've documented my adventure fixing a factory faux pas in it's assembly on Amazon so no need to repeat here. But honestly I haven't heard of others with the issue I had so maybe someone in QC's bad day. It happens. Bottom line, nice machine. Over priced ($218 inc. tax, for me). Nice lawn, btw!
Thanks for this video, Chris. I'm having the same experience you have had with this spreader and more. Going to reach out to support to see if there is anything they can do.
I know I am late to the party, but you can change which wheel drives the gearbox by simply pulling the pin on the inside of the right wheel and putting that pin into the inside of the left wheel. Then you can tilt it to the left and it will still work. You don't want a pin in both sides because it will drag a wheel or bind when you turn.
I have the same spreader and have some of the same issues. Mine constantly gets bumped out of side deflector mode. I will have to see if my platter is too high. My biggest gripe with the unit is trying to put down low rates like 1-2lb/k. It constantly gets jammed up and I have to “bounce” the whole thing to get it freed up. If you are throwing down Milo at 6lbs there are no issues.
I can see how that would happen since it has three holes they’d barely be open. I’ve only done low rates with synthetics like Turf Builder which has a very small prill size.
All the issues your having and the plastic shift not good I wouldn't buy one there's way better ones out there around the same price range thanks for the review 👍🏽
@@handydadtv you aren't a music channel. I mean do what you want but don't get upset when you don't grow as fast because people don't want to hear the music you picked? What are the odds most people want to hear the music you choose at the time they are listening. Couldn't they just listen to music in the background while watching your video? if so then why would they want to hear conflicting music. Also listen to your video at 3x speed and see if you like music. Most people who try speeding up videos like it, and most who like it eventually get to 3x speed. so there is a very good chance in a year most people who would want to watch your video will not like the song you pick especially at 3x. Ill just unsub, reply back if you ever stop adding music. I will click your videos when youtube suggest it, just in case you decide your not a music channel and people tune in to hear you.
Michael Mantion dude nobody gives a shit about the music it's about the review of the product that's it I'm glad I seen this review I was about to buy this spreader now I will get a different one thanks for the video
Looks like a bunch of plastic bits are breaking everywhere, product was not tested well by Earthway, improvements need to be made by manufacturer. Boy, it's hard to find an all-around good spreader in the $150 - $200 range

Thanks. Sorry you got a lemon. Earthway support was helpful for me. Hope you got yours resolved.
Thanks for the video really liked it. Bonus points for the dad sneakers!
Part of the uniform 😊

I must say, they’ve been very responsive. Even put me on the phone with the engineer.

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I bought it already assembled.

HandyDadTV I have done 2 apps of carbon x and it has a fairly large size compared to like Milo. It wasn’t fun.
Chris nice video. Can you do an update on the test plots you are doing for the different fertilizers? I’m curious to see how it looks.
Still gathering data. Too soon to tell. We’ll see how they stand up to the heat. Stay tuned!
Nice review, Chris!
You can buy longer/larger auger keys that will cover the entire bottom of the bin...
I didn’t know that. If they know about this deficiency, why wouldn’t they just deliver it with longer keys?
Great review
Thanks
I don't like the manual control lever. It should be spring loaded just like the other brands.
Trouble is, spring loaded chutes can have obstructions that prevent them from opening fully and you'd never know.

What are the better ones?
Yeah, what are the other options?
i bounce mine to get the last bit out
Make a ramp with cardboard and good duck tape.
@@MichaelMantion no point. Easy to bounce it. Had mine for 10 years plus doing gardening and lawncare.
Please stop adding music. Its annoying.
I like music.

Coincidentally, I’m still using it.
@@handydadtv Would you recommend it to people looking to purchase a spreader today or would you steer them elsewhere?
I think it’s a good value for the money.
