video is nice but since already have subtitles in english so why voice over again in english why didn't use the actual interview in mandarin. A bit strange rigght? (especially is my fav food some more)
2 reasons: time and authenticity,
To do voiceover takes time, especially like when like Mothership the interviews are cut heavily, it will take much more time and effort to edit a voiceover. May not seem like it, but it is a tiny bit easier to just fit text rather than have to translate, then record, then edit everything again.
The video interview wouldn’t feel authentic with a voiceover. The drama at which the interviewee speaks isnt captured if you voiceover and spoke in a fluent english manner. A lot of his way of speaking is very... ‘uncle-like?’ If you did a normal voiceover it wouldn’t sound as nice.

we bought his bbq pork slices abt 2 years ago. we took pity on him because there wasn't much customers. it wasn't good compared to the others so stopped buying it from him

uncle say 1 month salary $150, now workers 1 day $200. because he is uneducated, he dont know what is investment and use his money wisely. thus fell back in the olden mentality.
What has investments got to do with salary and education level? He’s just mentioning how much are workers getting paid now vs in the past to justify his current prices.
Is it me or the sight of him not wearing his mask properly during the interview is just so VERY disturbing?
