Here is the story of Peter Wambugu, an apple farmer in Kenya. He started off as a coffee farmer and later on, ventured into apple farming out of the market value he thought was higher. Today, he says he is proud of the decision he made years ago because he is reaping big in apple farming with his farm considered one of the best across the globe. Here is how his journey has been so far and HOW HE STARTED HIS MULTI-MILLION APPLE FARM || APPLE FARMING

My advice, do not jump into apple farming to make money. You might be disappointed. Do it as a hobby like myself. If it results into money, well and good. Remember the Wambugus are into business of selling the seedlings

Most of these farmers make money selling seedlings not fruits. That’s why the hype is so much about the money made so that you can buy seedlings to plant. Think about where you’re going to sell your apples first. Also remember that apples do very well in the temperate climate, so the European export market is exaggerated.

Temperature plays a role in apples growing. These apples that she is talking about grow in the highlands of Kenya normally above 1500 meters above sea level where temperatures do not go beyond 85 F and during June temperature can go as low as 50 F even though rainfall is not that much (semi-arid). So, you can imagine how cold it can get compared to humid and hot areas in many African countries.

Maybe it does not need chilling requirement at all, I don't know. I would appreciate if somebody could direct me to scientific paper, if any, on this variety.
