Toji was trying to keep megumi safe until he was old enough, then he tried to sell him ot the zenin clan hoping he would be able to make way more out of that than he (toji) could. Even while debating the sale they still don't know if megumi has the technique because he still isn't old enough to exhibit it yet. SO Toji kept his son in hiding in order to negotiate a better future for him. Toji or Megumi's Mom had the lineage to inherit the technique and that was passed down to megumi. The entire "how would the zenin clan have the 10 shadows" is really a question about them trying to buy the 10 shadows. the zenin might have (in the past) have had one of toji's or megumi's mom's ancestors that also had the 10 shadows. But yea Megumi was never a zenin and his dad abandoned the name as he said in hidden inventory. So megumi inherited his mom's maiden name and the technique.

I got to thinking damn, Sukuna was right about that power bit 😅 but with the dogs they described how each of the group is designated with a specialty to help in the hunt. When you look at it like that the specialists are better in their field than other people but like you said, that one advantage doesn't hold up to someone who's stat points are overwhelming in all fields 😂
Something interesting between Gojo and Sukuna is that we don't actually see their attacks kill their opponent usually. For Toji we didnt even see hollow purple hitting Toji and tearing through his body, and we only see the aftermath. For Sukuna we see Jogoat just dead afterwards. The way they have killed people where we only see the after effect is unique to only Sukuna and Gojo. Which is pretty interesting
Okay 1/ Right after dragon's domain crushes, Megumi was suffering from cursed technique burnout, so there's no way Toji picked him based on his state after the domain, I'm sure he picked the strongest person around overall regardless of their state. 2/ Rabbit escape has many uses, in this Megumi vs Toji fight, Megumi was kind of using them as a shield and a distraction at times which is why they were following him~
