The problem is if you have anything that can display or receive any show the from the BBC, it counts. Doesn't have to specifically be a tv, and you dont have to actually watch the BBC. It's having the ability to watch it that counts (yes its stupid). So you'd have to get rid of your computer, tablet, phone, car radio, etc etc, and then you don't need to have a tv license (it covers radio too).

@@SMacCuUladh You don't HAVE to have a tv license if you dont watch it, thats true, but the problem is on proving you dont watch it, and if you have a computer with internet, that counts. You have to prove that you don't watch BBC programmes on your computer, and that's where they get you (I'm in the UK).

Anyone who says Disney is doing fine doesn't understand business. Businesses don't always feel the pain immediately. They feel it later. The money has already been put aside for tv/movies that are being made now. But, if those movies/shows don't make money, than there's no money for the next movie next year. So, today they might smile, but next year they won't. We're already in the next year, as they're chopping movies/shows off the block, as they are now beginning to run out of money. It took a few years, and the pandemic was a strange time, but the huge boost in sales during that time was an illusion.

When donna just "let it go" when it came to the time vortex! A whole plot about how it would simply destroy her for her to remember. all it took was to "let it go" I wonder if the point of keeping tenant in the picture was for him to ultimately take over again; splitting the time line into two doctors seems weird

    • @RustyMacDuff
      @RustyMacDuff  Месяц назад

I agree. The bigger issue with this bi generation is that Russell is on video claiming that this happened to ALL doctors simultaneously, even in the past. This means we’re going to have random Doctors we don’t know suddenly appearing from out of nowhere, just like the ‘fugitive doctor.’

@@RustyMacDuff The same thing the could have been accomplished within the existing lore instead of coming up with this bigeneration and hitting the TARDIS with a hammer.
_The Flesh_ can duplicate any living thing and did duplicate the Doctor, going through all his regenerations.
They could simply have had the Flesh duplicate every Doctor. And since the TARDIS is a living thing it could also have created a TARDIS for each of them.

You don't pay a TV license if you don't have a TV in the UK 😂 only if you have a TV *and* watch live TV or BBC iPlayer, it is almost impossible for them to prove that you do those things though, so it's a fairly easy fee to avoid paying 😂

whats funny is disney is tried to buy the rights to doctor who years ago, it was before they brought star wars and marvel which they purchased as they didn't have many male demo brands, who was ment to be a stepping stone to that idea, they even had some concepts for rides at there themeparks.

I've been a fan of Dr Who since my early childhood. Prior to that my mother was so much of a fan she named me after a companion. My nephew was also a Doctor Who fan following the reboot. Essentially we're a multigenerational family of fans, and quite honestly, we'd all rather have seen the show die than become what it has.
I was always of the opinion that SOME Doctor Who was better than NO Doctor Who, but that's no longer the case. It's time to let it go.

You don't have to pay the tv/radio licence if you don't own a tv or use BBC iplayer over the Internet. There are also various exemptions. For instance blind people, care home residents, anyone aged 75 or above etc. Personally, I think the tv licence is good value, especially as it's per household, rather than per person, as you implied. It's less than a Netflix subscription, yet you get a lot more. All the BBC tv channels and programmes, all the BBC radio stations, local and national, BBC online, BBC iplayer, plus, indirectly, the massive support for the arts, particularly music, that the BBC provides. I think we'd be mad to get rid of it. We'd lose so much and the standard of programming would fall calamitously... Unfortunately it's become an ideological issue for many, despite it costing only a tad more than a packet of cigarettes, per month, per household! The lack of adverts alone makes pretty appealing to be honest, never mind all the other benefits. Part of the problem is that the right see it as left-wing and the left see it as right-wing...

I'll echo other Brits over here in saying you don't actually need to purchase a TV license if you dont want it. I don't have one, nor do i want one.
I think that now Disney has Doctor Who, it's not letting it go. It won't be cancelled, It'll just be milked to death.

Me personally I'm the kind of person who just doesn't care about bad writing, like when it comes to shows I genuinely love I couldn't care less, I'll still love the show (although tbf I'm the worst at criticizing things and tend to just go along with the crowd unless I have a really strong opinion about it or until I form my own opinion about it). personally I loved the 13th doctor and her companions, honestly I don't really remember much about the timeless child arc but I respect the writers decisions, If they think it's right for the show then it's right for the show (Unless it's something actually horrible like spontaneously deciding to drastically change a characters personality for the worse and making them an a**hole or smth with no good reason).
basically what I'm trying to say is that I just try and enjoy shows rather than criticize every writing decision they make cause if I do that then I might as well just not even bother watching the show
(Please excuse my punctuation and grammar, grammar isn't my strong suit)

Maybe the fans should get ownership of the Doctor Who franchise? Then they can pay for the stories they want, and get the remaining missing episodes animated.

    • @RustyMacDuff

It’s ironic that if it were crowd funded they would have put more effort into the stories and appealing to the widest audience possible. MST3K had to move to a crowdfunding model after Netflix gave them 2 seasons. Since the BBC is going away, something like that may have to be the answer, long term.

I mean it’s a perfect storm for my not caring. Yes Davros is clearly a Disney move; Davies put Davies back in the chair in his original run. But I can’t go back to 2005 Who it’s too cheesy and aged worse than actually season 26.
With RTD writing almost every episode Disney or not I’m not too excited.

Given what’s happened under his watch, I don’t think he likes anything. We have heard that they aren’t a fan of Bluey, (resentful might be a better term) considering that they have been censoring episodes, yet it accounts for 29% of total Disney+ traffic.
