It's a shame it's all being filled in tbh, they should just pour money into turning the whole thing into a massive tourist attraction, seeing the coal face, riding the train below ground etc. So much potential for many old collieries but instead they just fill them all in and forget about them :/
You realise the shafts were filled years ago, right? They would cost 10’s of Millions to excavate, let alone with flooding heave and collapse there will be nothing left of the coal faces, they will be fully closed up.
@Project 182R it's all under water now, duck. Belive me as an ex miner, it breaks my heart what the government had done, distroying not only the industry but many others that supplied the pits.
Great footage, shame there is not more content like this on youtube. Its amazing what is below your feet and you are unaware of.

The shafts where the elevators used to move are fully filled? Is there any chance these will ever be reopened?
Great vidio, whats going to happen to the building
it is now a mining and military museum
good old Cempump doin what they do best 👌👌
Are they keeping the head frames up .
yes they are grade 2 listed buildings
@@stuartmills2209 Thanks ..That's great news about them being saved ..
Where do you send the bill ,should of been sorted by UK coal
Absolutely criminal 🤦
What an absolute waste. I voted for the remnants of the colliery to remain standing but apparently 67% of the vote was in favour of demolishing it.
nothing being demolished, they are listed buildings
So sad your filling this stuff in, I know the shafts are done, but you’re destroying the place.
I agree entirely but the Coal Authority are carrying out the work as they own the shafts
