  • 'Site Listening : Brisbane' is a work that celebrates our audition. It is the act of attentive listening in any chosen location, privileging the auditory environment as the focus of awareness and interest. Site Listening invites us to reconsider our ways of being in, and knowing, the world. It’s an opportunity to connect deeply to our capacities as listeners and to lean in to the sound fields we find ourselves within.
'Site Listening : Brisbane' was developed by MoB Artist in Residence, Lawrence English.
MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC.

The Spring Mountain Conservation Estate remains sacred to the Traditional Owners (Yaggera and Yuggarrapul groups) of Ipswich. Some of the Cultural Landscapes within this estate include White Rock, the caves and outcrop overhangs. These sacred sites are very important to the Traditional Owners as they provide a link between Country and personal identity and allow the passing on of cultural knowledge.
As per Cultural Protocol the Traditional Owners have requested no one climbs White Rock.
This video was filmed in the Conservation Estate, in particular the Main Ridge Lookout, and the City Hall Clock Tower.
About White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate:
👉 Access to the Conservation Estate is via White Rock Drive, should School Road be obstructed by development works.
👉 Walking trails vary in length and difficulty and range from an easy 200-metre walk to the challenging 19-kilometre round-trip trail. For a moderate walk, allow up to 3 hours to hike the 6.5-kilometre round-trip trail to the base of White Rock.
    👉 No dogs/pets allowed.
