Awesome job! I bought a RAV4 that needed an engine swap and after seeing what you had to go through here, I am preemptively replacing the water pump, the tensioner, the thermostat and even the alternator! It's SO much easier with the engine out! Thank you!!
This video is extremely well done. Love your attention to detail and all the tools and tips you offer to ensure a solid repair. (I wonder how many shops would be as thorough and thoughtful as you are). I wish you were down the road... I'd have my Rav4 to you by lunchtime !
THANK YOU for this video. Been struggling with this service on my 2006 RAV4 this weekend, trying to follow the Haynes and Toyota service manuals. This video filled in a couple of critical omissions from those texts, and showed a couple of nice tricks, too - I wish I had watched this first! This will get me back on track.

This is a great video. I was able to do it without taking the motor mount loose - can still reach what you need to. Did not like the idea of supporting that much weight on the oil pan. Thank you for this big help! Came back to this many times during the job.
Good video however, You forgot about the 14mm nut that's on the underside of the the motor mount stud. Also, you didn't mention or show how to remove the crank sensor clip from the water pump or the harness mounting clip from the alternator. I purchased a Aisin water pump for my 07 RAV4 and the instructions specifically say not to put sealant in the groove, you go above the groove and behind all the bolt holes/stud holes. That groove is meant to catch any overflow of sealant. Instructions also state that sealant overflow past the groove could contaminate the coolant and cause issues.
I thought that the silicone goes outside the groove part and the groove is there to catch excess silicone front when tightening the bolts of the water pump
I have to say, I have always been hesitant to watch auto repair done by a female mechanic (I know, how dare I say that 😀) Like Brian from impractical jokers said, but I won’t go there. This video was well done. Straight to the point, video done well. Great Job!
Hi, Watched your video was very impressed. HOWEVER your torque specs for the water pump bolts is significantly off! You noted them to be at 80 inch/pounds. When In fact they should be 180 inch pounds or 15 ft/pounds!
Thanks. Unfortunately video does not show how to get the cable mount on the lower part on the pump loose. I have a hard time pressing the mount together on the back side.
Wayyyyy to much rtv, shits gunna dry up , break off and travel through the coolant system only to get clogged in the thermostat, heater core, or radiator..... nice....

Good clear instruction. Maybe you could specify that this is a 2.4L engine in the description? Cheers.

I'm a licensed auto tech ... if the pan isn't rotten it will be fine. I've supported 100's of engines by the pan while replacing motor mounts.
Good to know you don't have to remove the engine mount
One of the best tutorials I’ve watched great job 👍

this seems like a very significant error.
Great vid ... Did U remember the 17mm bolt up under the engine mount 😁
Looks like it was missing .... and I thought it's a 14mm
Very nice video. I’m impressed with your work!
Good work. This would make me hesitate to remove those studs though.

I love this woman you are just so calm and good i enjoy your work and explanations👍👏👏👏
EXCELLENT in every respect. Professional.
Oh ok its a 2.4l... thanks for that description

Great Job!
Noticed the alternator was replaced also..! 👍
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
Great video! Can you remove the water pump from the bottom to avoid removing the alternator and engine mount?
You are good I like your work 😊😊
This title is incorrect. The 2.4 engine only came on the 2006-2008 rav4 . The 2009-2018 came with the 2.5 . So it's a bit different from this.
Excellent video. Thank you.

What is the stud removal tool called?
thank you
Very good video.thank you so much.
Thanks
I disagree with the idea of channel locks on the studs. Never used my stud removers for a stud I reused either but other than that nice work
HI, for how long I will be able to drive with a noisy water pump before it goes completely bad ?
Thanks. Unfortunately video does not show how to get the cable mount on the lower part on the pump loose. I have a hard time pressing the mount together on the back side.
same problem, i forced it out with screwdriver, hope it goes back
How much is the labor cost please?
+@user-ew4lm1in7m We do not have this information available. We would recommend calling local mechanics to get a price range.
Terrible idea to remove those water pump studs! If they are seized and you break them you just made a huge problem! Terrible advice.
Wayyyyy to much rtv, shits gunna dry up , break off and travel through the coolant system only to get clogged in the thermostat, heater core, or radiator..... nice....
One day, your car become new.
What lol
This particular water pump seems to be for a 2.4 v6 rav4
cood job.
