  • Joe Buck opens up about the seven months his dad - Hall of Fame broadcaster Jack Buck - endured in an intensive care unit before passing. We were all standing in the bowels of the stadium waiting to go onto the field when Jack Buck walked by. He stopped and looked at us and asked what group we were. I use to think stories like this were bullshit until I had a similar experience with my father, he suffered a heart attack was resuscitated and taken to the hospital. After a few days the doctors said he had no brain activity so he was essentially brain dead, after a few days I made the tough decision to disconnect everything from him but I did visit him told him I loved him held his hand but I was the only family member who did that, my mom and brother didn't want to visit because they figured it would be to hard to see him in that condition. Needless to say he lasted 10 days on his own, eventually the Hospital called me and recommended Hospice care. Which is care at home for a loved one whos going to die, so they take him to my moms home and this time obviously my mother and brother visit him talk to him spend time with him, even his only two granddaughters visit and say their goodbyes. All of this happened in one evening and by 6 A.M. the next morning he passed away..............
