@@lsalibe My mom made friends with people from Saudi and she fell in love with their culture. She learned to make some Arabic dishes and taught me when I became older. They are my husband's favorite dishes! We still listen to her from time to time. I just love how expressive she is.
Wow! First time I see the lady in a TV interview. What an honour to be able to hear her. It’s 2021 and there are people like me who were born decades after her death and still listen to her song. She is simply unrepeatable. I worship her and her divine music.
They are an undefeated people despite the ordeal of losing in the 1967 war, they refused to surrender to Israel, and insisted on continuing the war. Umm Kulthum allocated the large proceeds from her concerts in Paris to the army to buy weapons. They triumphed over defeat, and this is the most beautiful thing about Egyptians.
There is already a series that tells her biography, in addition to the fact that Hollywood has changed her story to suit her idea, and this is unacceptable.
It is really hard to respond to this interview. I have never heard and seen The First Lady of Arabic Music speak before. I can see why the girl, on one topic, was nervous. Umm Khultum seems like a Taurean, rather than Capricorn, as speculated. As Taurus often have fine voices and speak in a planned and careful way. Umm's discourse is concise and very easy to understand for the most, or least educated of people equally. She seems quite 'possessed' of the voice in a way that reminded me of what the opera singer Caruso said, "When the voice has to be somewhere, I have to go, regardless of what I want, or where I need to be". This is such a valuable interview of a special time in Egyptian history. And of a person who can sing and reach out with frail humanity from beyond the grave to generations of people living decades after her death. A great and unforgettable legend I listen to all the time. Many thanks for a beautiful interview and insight. Elf shukr. ; ) K
The interviewer is not silly at all, she just asks the questions she is allowed to!!!! Remember that Umm Kulthum controlled very very well how she wanted to sound to the public and HOW she wanted to be perceived... Apart from that, this is a beautiful video, hearing her voice talking... It is entirely ART. Love Umm Kulthum from a Spanish fan
Such an honor and great pleasure to watch this precious first live TV video of Umm Kulthum (The one and only Star of the East). Thank you for sharing.🌹
It definitely seems, She was a very unique, self esteemed, original and pure cultured woman without any inferiority complex unlike some of today’s Middle Easterners. Hello Nirolevy. Could you point me in the direction of music created in the Western world that they call Arab music? I don't think I've ever come across such an example so would like to hear it (unless you are talking about music made for movies or TV shows?) Either way thank you!

I don't agree at all. The girl is fresh and sweet, but experienced. Remember that it was 1967 and she was in front of a national myth, a great diva, so she couldn't really take any liberties. Plus there was this limitation she was under, to only speak about the Paris visit (how many things can you ask about that?). As you hear in this video, the diva only gives very careful and expected answers, always extra politically correct - and really boring, . It's not the interviewer's fault!
