Not gonna lie, this title hurt me. Mazinger Z is a really great franchise that deserves all the love it can get. I’m super sad that I jumped on the Mazinger boat late and it looks like it will never get another adaptation.

Actually, Gundam, Getter and Mazinger are the holy trinity of mechas as they are the pinnacle in their respective style, being real robot, combining robot and super robot. But Mazinger is the grandaddy of them all and that's why it's THE robot... until you just read Mazinger ZERO and it becomes something else entirely... it gets pretty crazy...

All 3 Infinitism (Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger and Grendizer) release are awesome. And we're getting Mazinkaiser soon. Hoping to get Shin Getter, Mazinger Zero and Mazin Emperor as well.
While Getter has enjoyed a few crossovers with Mazinger, it's technically a different franchise so I'm doubtful that Shin Getter will get the Infinitism treatment.

Mazinger is actually what got me into mecha anime. When I was 5 years old, my uncle introduced me to grendizer, which even at that point was pretty old, but grendizer was the 3rd mazinger series. Years later I got to discover it was the 3rd series so I decided to watch the previous 2 including mazinger z and great mazinger. That hooked me on mecha anime, and eventually led to gundam, which is my favorite anime, but even now, mazinger, grendizer and getter robo, along with a few super robot hold a special place for me
I had a Great Mazinga (as Mattel called him here in the States) Shogun Warriors figure when I was a kid. I thought that was amazing. I’ve outgrown my toys, I guess but then I saw this video and became jealous. Mazinger was my favorite among the giant robots. Now here he is again and better than ever. THENNNN I saw the price of these on Ebay. OWWW!
As a collector of Metal Builds, my favorites so far have been the Metal Build Aile Strike Gundam with the Gunbarrel Striker and the M=9 Gernsback from Full Metal Panic because it comes with tons of weapons, alt M-9 Heads, and a stand to mount and display everything! Did reviews of them, but honestly they are very awesome!

Luckily they go on pre-order months in advance of their release date but there are some I missed out on because I had other stuff I had to budget for or real life priority things like getting a house. The best place to pre-order them is the Big Bad Toy Store the only amount you have to pay is a small reserve amount of like $30 to $50 depending on the price of the figure the you pay the rest when it is ready to ship.
You should totally watch the movie if nothing else just for its awesome mecha designs. I found myself wanting model kits of almost every bot in the movie! But also just as an FYI both The Great Mazinger and the Mazinger Z are in the movie. biggest dissappointment I think is that we never got a model kit or even an official figure of the 600m Mazinger Infinity itself! Damn shame!
I need Metal Build Gurren Lagann figures (especially Lagann, Gurren, Gurren Lagann, Arc Gurren Lagann, Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) they would be just beautiful, especially if the accesories let you recreate those legendary Giga Drill Break moments. Fantastic review for the fantastic iconic figure itself. The Metalbuild line up balances the issue of either 'More metal less articulation or more articulation less metal'. The metal content is not lacking and so does the articulation unlike the SOC and Aoshima.
I'm in the same camp - I buy figures that interest me, and then I get into the anime! Especially with stuff that you've reviewed, I got the Diver Nami on your recommendation; even painted the face on the same. Still haven't watched Build Divers yet, though!
I feel there's a lot of feature here that could easily be included in the HG great mazinger. Like the leg part for his atk, all it takes is a few plastic piece
The thing with Mazinger and Go Nagai's dynamic craziness is.... there's a lot of material on different media...a lots of retelling and rebooting and multiversal shenanigans. Something curious here...even if there's always a new more powerful super robot in the franchise, good old Mazinger Z is the most iconic....piloted super robot grandaddy.

Now watch the movie but if you need a proper guide to Mazinger series I can help, but for the most I can recommend as a starting point is the original Manga both Z and Great(as Great actually tells the ending of Z), both good if you can get down with some classic Super Robot action and character. I was made by the guy that made Devilman so expect a treat.
I would definitely have to pose him with another figure. Thinking either a Rocket Shoryuken (Uppercut). Or get a Captain Falcon and have a Falcon Punch-off.
Fun fact: The Mazinger series is essentially the Granddaddy to Granddaddy Gundam, or of ALL hero PILOTED mechs (Tetsujin 28 aka Gigantor being the first hero controlled robo). Starting with Mazinger Z -> Great Mazinger -> Grendizer. Another fun fact...the Mazinger class robo are superior to most, if not ALL mobile suits. That's not counting Mazinger Zero who is like Turn A tier of power. This is because they run on Photon Power, which is higher efficiency and output compared to Nuclear Power that most Gundams go by. Except Grendizer since it's from space and is about 20x stronger than Great Mazinger.

Considering Getter Emperor just by combining absorbs all the planets it destroys or how Mazinger Zero's Breast Fire can scorch the entire Earth in 1 shot.

My dad introduce me Mazinger while Voltes V was popular and that's how I got in to gundams and Mechas!

That's what happened with Astray for me, and luckily manga already made it state side to peruse. And Astray is the great redeemer for Seed as a whole.
