I've been looking all over RUclips for a good Grogu modification tutorial, and this is by far the best one of all! You just need to paint him and add hair now!
@@Owenthekingizback Thanks for the feedback, stay tuned I plan to upgrade him even further once I finished my current project which is Mando's Beskar Spear.
Brilliant! For the hands, give Mr Super Clear a go. Test in an unobtrusive place for hold, then, if it works, spray the hands and face, allow to dry, and then use either paint or soft chalk pastels. You'll need to spray MSC between layers. I am going to have to mod my wee baby Grogu using your ideas! Thanks so much!
Take it next step, nothing to loose. I think its so worthed to make your own creation and realism in this doll. I think it betters in my opinion if head and hands are matching and very original also. Well done
Great tutorial! Love your armature idea. Got one for Christmas, definitely will be modding my Grogu! Liked and subscribed. Oh and definitely take it to the next level to weather it.
Fantastic work! I’d vote for weathering him up. His robes could use a little dirt and grime and his skin tone a dark green wash applied lightly. Maybe some hair strands as well.
Great work I'm going to try this on mine. I definitely think you need to add paint to the face and hands to make it match more, I've seen a couple people that added paint and it really improves the look.
Amazing job, really like it!! I make some shot stop motion animation with my Mattel Grogu, and it is not comfortable that I can't pose his hands and head...( I use a wire though but outside) Thought about his upgrade...but.. I'm still afraid...think need to get one more baby for modifying.....🤔 ( When they will be cheap here where I'm living hehehe)
stick to the stop motion animation. You might like to check out the follow op video to this one posted here where I make him even more real with hair, highlights, and weathering: ruclips.net/video/cy4_hKfddvw/видео.html
Dude, this is awesome!!! Subscribed! Also, yes! Totally do some painting work on him, there's a video somewhere on how to make him look more realistic, that paint job and this you did here would make him just perfect!!
Judith, thanks for the comment. Just loosening his joints makes a big difference, and the legs really aren't that hard to make, and seemed to have turned out better than most other approaches I've seen others take.
melloyello, thanks. You might also like the follow on video where I take him the next step. ruclips.net/video/cy4_hKfddvw/видео.html Tell me what you think?
Hey Bro!, That's good work man, I got a Child of my own for Christmas and I'm thinking of doing the same, I love him so much, he's so cute and baby looking (we all owe some thanks to all the guys that understand Star War fan, like Mr. Favreau and the guys at Lucas films) that I didn't have the Heart to modify him, but watching this vid, you have convinced me to upgrade him too, oh, and yes you should weather him up . . to make him more lively. Good work . .Blessings Bro! . .
Thanks Bro, look forward to hear how your child upgrades go. Totally agree with your Mr. Favreau comment, he's helping guide SW in the right direction.
What a fantastic mod! I will try something similar, but with a reborn body and 3D-printed feet. I am thinking about using a Gorilla tripod or a teddybear skeleton for his bones. Oh, and of course he needs his control knob (I know that a pingpong ball has the required size. But I like your idea much better, it is much more sturdy). And I will be very careful to not tighten the zipties to their limits (I have the same problem with my original Baby Yoda - zero movement).
I will put them thingiverse. Hopefully, that is okay, as I know that several of 3D-printed Grogu feet are sold on etsy. But as these are unlicensed products, I should be fine for putting up a free file. Hope they won't sue me or something...you have to be careful with that these days.
@@misssara7914 Sitting is no problem, but you really have to balance him to be able to stand. His feet are somewhat uneven, but that is fine with me. Also, I managed to put way too much hair on his head. I guess I will thin them out a bit in the future...although he really looks cute with a bit more of fine, white hair.
Looks so good! Where do you get the long thin cable ties for re-attaching the head? I been looking for ones that are 12-14 inches long and 2.5 mm wide, but can't find any options aside from $4 ties with $20 shipping...
here's the ones I used: amzn.to/3LlyD1N these are ~$6 + free shipping. You can string them together to make them longer. You might also enjoy my follow on Grogu video: ruclips.net/video/cy4_hKfddvw/видео.html
Yes because I want to paint mine and MAIN QUESTION is what he would look like with Matt lacquer (the spray can) cuz I really want mine to NOT be glossy at all. So this'll show me. :)
