I absolutely love the Kawasaki Z1R and they were incredible. I remember the golden age of the super bikes and how great they were and I remember Peter Steven’s promotion of the Kawasaki Z1300. They said if you could pick a Z1300 up by hand from its side the bike was yours. They were great days and fond memories will always be treasured.🙏🙏
What a great event and in the same place's, 45 years ago i rode my rd350lc pro am, to the oden picture house in UK to watch mad max and when i came out started my bike and did a dirty big burnout filling the air with smoke 😅 happy days.
I had a '74 Z1 in the mid '80s. For a heavy maybe 70 horse power bike it was loads of fun. It had a period correct Basani drag style pipe. Bike sounded damn great. Thanks for the video. Looks like it was loads of fun.
There's a small bleed return hole in the master cylinder, if it gets a bit of gunk in it it causes pressure in the brake lines because it doesn't allow the brake fluid to return to the reservoir and holds the calipers on, A small piece of wire or a pin or needle would have fixed it in seconds. Better to be safe and not ride it if you were not sure....👍 Spewing I didn't know this was on, I would have rode the old Kwaka up for a look....
This would be an incredible ride. As a Mad Max series fan, it would be fun to do this ride and visit the towns where the scenes were filmed. Thank you for posting. The Z1000 was an awesome machine. The Goose bike is incredible.
I bought a 76 KZ900 brand new for $2609.00 out the door. It was brown, which was one of only two colors offered in 76, and I quickly had it painted with blue Imron metal flake, and it was beautiful. All of the Kawasaki superbikes were great bikes. Seeya
What a bloody awesome Event. It was the Ducks Guts mate. Was good to catch up with mates & Mad Max Fans from everywhere. Huge thnx to Burkey & the South of Heaven MC Club, Kawasaki Z Owners Club, MFP Garage, Actors & Crew , Maryborough Racecourse & all other sponsors involved. Had the privilege of riding in Peter Axfords Black Interceptor for the Cruise into Clunes ( it hasn't changed). Done well at the Auction. Bring on the 50th. Was awesome to see Dale/ Stuntman riding the Original burnout bike from movie at Clunes. MAD MAX RULZ.

what a cool set of guys madmax series is one of my favorite film series the reason i chose my r1250gsa is because to me if max road a bike today i imagine him on a gsa 1250
Sorry for your loss. It was interesting to see how the Mad Max Ride has changed over the years. I went on the 25th Anniversary ride and had a ball. We came from Melbourne which included a ride around most of the sites used in the movie in Melbourne and all the way to Clunes where I got to meet one of the actors too. It would be fantastic if Mel could make it for the 50th anniversary. Hubby and I are looking at getting bikes again after a 14-year break (had children and wanted to wait until they were older before riding again) and I would love to do the ride again.
A good set of rear shocks and a upgrade kit for the forks, a couple of brembo FS08 calipers for the front, you'll need some brackets made to mount them, and a new master cylinder to suit and the old 1000 would ride very well.
My riding buddy's and I can say every line verbatim of the first mad max movie. We were out hauling the mail one day I hit a car in front of them spent few weeks in the hospital. They nicknamed me The Toe Cutter.
Had the same thing happen to me with the brakes. I unfortunately came off you're very lucky you pulled over, I didn't have the time it was 2 seconds then lock up on the front wheel
Back in the day, those bikes were great bikes. Today those bikes are great bikes. Very well built and they Still have such a great style that is not replicated on the new ones. When they were released, the Z1R was a real sports bike. Sports bikes are a bit different now though, Z1R still looks as good as ever. Really did like the Z1R ST? The model with the bigger tank that had wheels like the Z1300, similair forks and shaft drive, if memory serves me correctly. Saw one new, in a green, not as dark as British racing green. Thinking the tank was similair shape to Z1300 too. Mind you, that is a couple of years back
@@BikesILike I started to go down the vintage route but I'm not to fond of spending a ton of money to keep them up or the time required to keep them running sweet. Look forward to your channel sticker.

What an absolutely fantastic event. Just look at the bikes, so beautifully presented, absolutely brilliant If i wasn't on the other side of the planet, I'm sure I'd have been there. Sorry for the loss of your friend. Best wishes from England
That was cool to see, would have been great to ride up there. I had a knee replacement almost 7 weeks ago, haven't got it to bend enough to get on either of my bikes yet, almost there. So I missing riding, and the weather has mostly been nice in Melbourne. Old bike are fun, I have 1988 Harley Davidson 1340cc Lowrider, I upgraded the rear shocks and fork springs in early 2023, the improvement was amazing. I had the spring rates set up for my weight and having a sidecar on the bike, when I don't have the sidecar it is a very firm ride and the bike handles very well, and sits a bit higher than standard. Sorry to hear your friend died.
Have you seen the Kawasaki z900rs? Ok there not the original z900 but there a more modern version plus they look very similar. There's a company which makes the same looking 4 exhaust system to give the z900rs even more original look.
Yes! I like the Z900RS. Had a sit on one at the dealership a few years ago, was considering buying one back then. Realistically, I could pick up a new Z900RS SE for less money then a good Z1000 nowadays.
Had a Z1A in the mid seventies, and absolutely loved the thing. Bulletproof. As far as the brake issue, could it possibly be a warped rotor? I had that happen at speed on one of my Harley's, the rear brake locked on going around a bend and I got high sided. Not fun.
Rode on friends farm bikes as a kid in the early 70's. Got my road licence in the 80's. Owned Sport Tourers, Sport bikes, Nakeds, Adventure bikes and Cruisers since then.

I believe so! Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toecutter) also played Toad in the Stone movie.
