After being in a hot country like India, I think the cold weather would be a relief. (5 C isn't cold 😅). In my cubicle, my coffee cup was easily the biggest in the building. There was no mistaking it. One of the interesting things about Vietnam is you see Huế and Hà Nội style dishes in Sài Gòn, Sài Gòn and Huế food in Hà Nội, and Sài Gòn and Hà Nội dishes in Huế. What's with that? (I'm sure your family is very proud of you!! As they should!) And thanks for the impromptu Vietnamese. I could follow a bit of it!
@@nhanta I've been taking an online Vietnamese (Duolingo) the last six years, and have completed the course. I can now read a lot of the signs in Vietnam. But my hearing and spoken Vietnamese is not good (even when I think I'm saying it right, I'm apparently not). One of the problems is that most Vietnamese-English courses use the Northern Vietnamese pronunciation, while my friends are mostly from the South (including my fiance). So I will start following a RUclips course that specializes in Southern Vietnamese vocabulary and pronunciation. When I try to speak Vietnamese with his friends and family, they look at my fiance as to say "what did he say?" and then my fiance will say the same thing--and I can hear what he says and understand it, and think "Didn't I just say that?". But apparently I did not. I wanted to learn as it seemed very unfair and wrong for him to learn English, while I just sat there and didn't also try to learn Vietnamese. Though from a story of an American who married a Taiwanese woman and learned Mandarin and became fluent in Mandarin, he says he usually doesn't speak Mandarin when his wife is there. He says "I let her do all the talking, while I just stand there, look stupid, and smile a lot". I think I'll end up doing the same thing. 🤣
