I experienced it yesterday in Makuhari... it was awesome 😁 it was like the colors that had been taken away by the pandemic were instantly restored to us 😭 we all screamed loudly together! We all responded to her voice, shoulder to shoulder with the crying men and raised our hands in the air, it's a great opening 😊I want you to bring HAPPY METAL to the world 😁.
Metal Kingdom hits completely different live. I was at Makuhari last weekend and I got chills hearing Su sing it live.
Yes, it was the kick off song for the Makuhari event. Su came out sitting on the huge hedgehog like chair and start singing like the queen of metal. It was just like Broadway show. That was so different and amazing. Yes, Monochrome was amazing, too. It’s also so glad to see Kami band. They were also incredible. Babymetal is back!
I appreciate your reaction. And honestly, I think that's one of the coolest things about Babymetal, though. They're able to make such a diversity of music that you play the same 2 or 3 songs to 8 people, you likely get 8 different responses. It's really special in its ability to resonate differently with each person listening.
Personally, this one had a significant emotional resonance for me, as did the first two. And it is far more targeted. It has an intensity, but it's a much more focused intensity.
But the fact that we're here talking about how it hit us differently is a tribute to the emotional content and complexity of their music.
Have an awesome day, the Fox God go with you! 🤘🦊🤘😎
I remind myself that some of Su's favorite songs off the last 2 albums were Meta Taro and Oh Maginai! With that in mind, I'm hopful that the wacky side of BABYMETAL will be present somewhere on the new album too.
Nice reaction and analysis. I agree with you that the three songs are sounding so much more mature, which is to be expected since the girls are 25 and 23 now and have been around for almost 13 years by now. Yet, I personally also miss the quirkyness, the crazy genre mixes and the kawaii elements in the new songs. The new album is labelled as a concept album so I expect it to be cohesive with the three songs we already know, which comes to no surprise. Btw Monochrome is also my personal favourite so far but we’ll see if another song can take that spot once the album is out. Kitsune up Champ! 🤘🔥🦊
Breaking news: they just opened their first "BABYMETAL Returns THE OTHER ONE" concert with "Metal Kingdom"!! So yes, it has a purpose.
I agree, they sound mature and they are not going back to the "Doki Doki Morning" era anymore but we expect something faster, heavier and crazier later on the album. Probably "Mirror Mirror" or "METALIZM"... but you already know it. 😁
Yep, you got it, it was the first track of today's concert indeed.

🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Just heard the Live version and it is EPIC !!! !
Welcome to BabyMetal's metalverse🦊🤘🌐
Glad to see you're back with another new BM single. 💯
They did it again with this epic anthem as the perfect opener for this new album, i think you already know prior to this all the tracks were already teased with the full titles, can't wait for Time Wave and Light and Darkness, but so far all the songs sounds really good.
SuMetal did a wonderful job with her vocal range in this one and MoaMetal too with her backing chorus. I really think she's making a clear statement with these new singles, she's didn't sound with the kawaii style from previous album, maybe will get some of those but meanwhile she's showing a real mature and full grown up vocals with more technical soundscapes, she's claiming her throne as total queen and showing us why deserves the "living legend" status.
I'm getting FDTD vibes from this song and totally love it, is one of my favorites, but also I'm getting some Within Temptation vibes with the symphonic touch, another band that I love. I can't wait to see this performing live with a great theatrical stage production, Broadway style, tomorrow we're probably gonna see some fancam clips of these.
Btw you're following the same trail of some others reactors, maybe the majority, not liking this song over previous singles but it's totally fine, don't worry, that's one of BM magic, maybe this song will grown in you in another moment or when watching live, who knows? OTFGK.
Here's the lyrics translated, thanks for sharing this and kitsune up.🦊🤘🔥
*METAL KINGDOM* lyrics:
LYRICIST: Kitsune of Metal God
ARRANGER: TatsuoMetal
[Verse 1: Sumetal]
We’re going through the passing times
This world is crumbling
We live while wandering
A heart lost in darkness
Hold me tight until dawn
In that bright place
Aim for tomorrow
[Pre-Chorus: Moametal & Sumetal]
Raise your hands to the lord
Raise your voice to the world
Raise your flag. Let’s be together...
[Chorus: Sumetal]
Stand up KINGDOM
Unleash your FREEDOM
Endless journey. Endless dream
Wake up KINGDOM
Get it, FREEDOM
Raise the signal, go on without hesitation
Trust your friend
[Bridge: Sumetal]
Negative words
I don’t need a way back
In that bright place
Let’s live tomorrow
[Pre-Chorus: Moametal & Sumetal]
Raise your head to the lord.
Raise your sword to the sky
Raise your fists. Let’s be together...
[Chorus: Sumetal]
Stand up KINGDOM
Unleash your FREEDOM
Endless journey
Endless dream
Wake up KINGDOM
Get it, FREEDOM
Prove it Burn your life
Believe in miracles
[Verse 2: Sumetal]
It’s the beginning song
Deliver our voice
Resonate, our voices
Open up a new era
Let it ring, it’s our voice
Play it, our singing voice
[Chorus: Sumetal]
The sword of pledge
Raise it up for tomorrow
The unknown path
Create it with those hands
Stand up KINGDOM
Unleash your FREEDOM
Endless journey Endless dream
Wake up KINGDOM
Get it, FREEDOM
It’s dawn, bathing in the light
Cut through the darkness
As you said, this has all the ingredients for a live, big arena song ... and we will find out shortly if that is what happens at their first live show in nearly 2 years. It is the opening song for the album, my money is on it being the concert opener too.
Agree with you 100 percent.
Very diplomatically spoken! 😆👍🏻 And yes, I understand you (and Ryan), that so far at least the moments where they completely knock you off your seat with surprises might be missing. Personally, I also thought that after Monochrome they would present us a slightly different, maybe a more 'energetic' song. Instead, they've come up with something that is one of their most epic-sounding ones, which I think would fit perfectly as a soundtrack to a big blockbuster movie (with the soundscape, I spontaneously think of Avatar, or something similar).
My guess is that after the musical journeys like Papaya, BxMxCx or even Shanti Shanti Shanti, BM will try with this album to present something more constant, less playful, which could also be called 'more mature'. And I'm not sure if they would do themselves a favor by having songs like 'Doki Doki Morning' in between. I don't know how to describe my thoughts on this. I'm searching for appropriate words very much like you to not sound disrespectful or turned off, because I'm not. I'm looking forward to the album, and who knows, maybe the other songs will hold some surprises.🤷🏻♂🤘🏻

I would not mind at all if they went back to the crazy weird stuff but if thats not what they are feeling any more I'm not going to demand it. I think they have always been about not wanting to be defined in any way. The first album was crazy fun and unique but doing it again in any form dilutes the uniqueness. I wish I knew the source so I know I'm not having a false memory but I recall Su, or someone, talking about if people start saying Babymetal is this or that, its time to evolve in another direction. No where near the exact words but you get the point. Like I said though, Im not sure I am remembering correctly.
You probably know by now but this is the intro track on the album and leads into Divine Attack. Between the two I think they make a pretty nice opening statement. Monochrome stands more on its own but it should be interesting to see how it fits into the other songs around it.
Edit: Also, yes definitely a concept album
I do and I appreciate it more as a lead in for sure
ありがとうございます🤘🦊♪
Hi Champ, I'm late to the party on your reaction to this song. But I hear you.
I too wanted Babymetal to mature a bit in their style, music and performance. They are mid 20s now, so they can't keep making songs like Doki Doki.
I kind of feel we are like fathers, who love their teenage daughters so much that it hurts to even think that beautiful life stage has passed. We never want our kids to grow up.
However, I have two wonderful kids and if there is one thing I have learned, it is that you need to try to keep pace with their development. That way you stay connected to them. You learn to enjoy every stage of their lives and continue to be engaged and relevant. If we fail to do that, we become like old people sitting around looking at old photos, wishing for those old days to return.
Champ, I know you didn't kick the song and that you were really respectful to it, but I can tell it wasn't what you were hoping for. If you are looking for weird and shock value songs on this new album, then you might be disappointed. However, this song is already proven to be a powerful opener for both the album and their live shows. I think the song fits perfectly (which is of course, just my opinion), I know that by now that you will have seen the studio audio dubbed, live performance, official video of this track. I wonder what you think after seeing this performance?
I would be really interested in your thoughts.
The thing with BABYMETAL is: You never really get, what you expect or what you mean to want. The first album was regarded as too wild / all over the place, the second not to be kawaii enough, the third too poppy, and the upcoming one as not diverse enough...
Here's my thesis: As long as they do not exactly give us what we want or expect they stay interesting!
Babymetal will be performing tonight Saturday night in Japan and Sunday night also hopefully they release a live format video for Metal Kingdom
👍 👍
After the third or fourth listen this song passed Monochrome as my favorite of the new releases and yes it should be an epic LIVE performance with the audience chatting along with the girls.
imagine those power chords in a live wall of sound, delivered by tuned down 9-string guitars and extra percussionist pounding big kettle drums, bringing the epic-ness to life , In a few hours the grand return takes place, once again taking their place at the top of the metal scene.
I agree with you: I like Babymetal, but I get the same vibe from the 3 songs. I'm looking for variety! Even if not strict up weird, at least something different! like in Metal Galaxy we have "Shanti Shanti Shanti", "Da Da Dance", "Oh! Majinai!", "BxMxC", etc.
My favourite is probably Divine Attack of the 3, since it has a super catchy chorus, that reminds me of the older songs :D
This song gives off a deep feeling, majestic and strong charisma, reminds me of "Within Temptation - The Reckoning and Supernova"
Babymetal is the best Japanese band, it's on another level and Su voice are amazing, long live Babymetal long live Queen Su...
Coldplay - The Scientist (Official 4K Video) react please.
Damn. Okay, I like this song so much better than Monochrome, I do find Monochrome to be the most pop influence of the 3 so far in my opion. I was really expecting you to talk about the structure of the song, since that's what made me fall in love with it. Specifically in the chanting, since the instrumental changes every time it comes in. And everything before and after it is so different. Reminded me of your take on Divine Attack and since then I've payed more attention to it, but Metal Kingdom really brought it for me.
I 100% agree hearing those tones live would literally do things to your body. So I am looking forward to that.
An overture song of the album is how I perceived it...
Snorefest, out of the 3 songs so far this is the worst. The others aren't that great either but they are ok at least. Hopefully the rest of the album is better.
This is pretty awful song, just plods along and never really gets anywhere. I would never sit and listen to this song over and over like I would much of their other material. Vocals seem thin and detached.
Great reaction.
I think this song is by far the best of the three new songs and in my opinion the verse is the best part of the song.
Su's vocals are so perfect.
To all Babymetal fans: if there is anyone who is spammed with the search query from the channel: "kumawat99", please report it, because the hashtag Babymetal is only used to get clicks. Thank you.
I've been reporting that crap for awhile now.
Metal kingdom not so metal to me
