I dont agree with a lot of these but love the whittingham praise. in my opinion, no coach maximizes their roster more than him.

No Josh Heupel but Lane, Lance Liepold, Mark Stoops and Matt Rhule is wild.
Had him just outside of it. I'm a fan but couldn't bump anyone out. Thinking about how he has beaten Stoops the past couple years could have been one there that I may have over looked.
@@coachescaviar8898 stoops is massively overrated. Heupel took over a terrible situation and has already surpassed him. Lane and him have similar paths. They beat 6-8 win teams but the moment it’s an opponent with a pulse like Bama or a 10 win LSU or UGA and they shrivel up.
@@coachescaviar8898not to mention he beat Saban his second yr at TN with a hugely depleted roster that had no where near the talent Bama did. 10 and 2 that yr and let's not forget the win over Clemson and Dabo in the bowl game. Wild to say the least you left him off completely
I think Dabo is getting a lot of credit for what he did in the pre-NIL era. The fact is he is refusing to adapt and Clemson has kind of disappeared since guys like Chad Morris and Brent Venables have left the staff. I think I'd put Ryan Day in the top 5 here. He needs to get over the Michigan hump, but has still accomplished more than everyone on this list other than Kirby and Dabo. Deboer is way too high at this point. Maybe in a few years, but he has really only had one great year coaching at this level.

I like coaches at schools that have a difficult time recruiting, especially in-state, like Kansas State, Iowa, Oklahoma State and Utah. I also think that Dan Lanning is ranked too low, the teams he has coached at Oregon would beat quite a few of the teams coached by others higher on this ranking.

Wait, no Deion Sanders? You must be a racist. He took a 1-11 team, fired everyone and filled up the Buffs with a hand picked portal team. Then, he over performed and shot all the way up to 4-8. He taught his players that bling and cool, combined with a lot of excuses and yapping, trumps humility and hard work. Doesn't every parent want their kids to learn that? How is he not coach of the year?
