They tried their best. There is this thing in Tamil about musical art. That is Iyal (Dance), Isai (Music), Natakam (Drama or acting). That is how combined the art form is. A complete artist gets recognition of a mastery of art in this regard only if they get all of these skills. Just one skill alone is not enough to achieve higher accolades in theatrical (Musical) art.
Technically North and South Indian music are same. Of course there is difference in presentation. Can you tell a single actor who excels singing, dancing, acting?I bet there is none in Bollywood or Tollywood. My earlier comment has nothing to do with anybody's inferiority complex. If you have superiority complex, then all the Best.
