The Pill Hydrometer was already a fantastic digital hydrometer but now with wireless charging module it's even more attractive.
This upgrade eliminates the need to open the housing meaning you can charge by simply putting it on your wireless QI certified wireless charging station.
Track your fermentations of beer, wine, cider and other fermented beverages and log the process to the RAPT.io web portal.
Please review your videos before uploading to the web. Critical assembly techniques were out of shot and technical terms used such as 'wireless' and wifi charging which can be confusing to some folk. The Wireless Charging Upgrade Kit that I recently purchase now comes with two weights and two items of tacky shaped foam packing unlike what was mentioned in the video. I think it would be worthwhile to spend a couple of hours to correctly re-shoot the critical scenes, edit and review the video before uploading again.
can you buy the coil stand alone? dont need the base, and also no need for more than 1 for people with multiple pills
Yes this is a fair point. We will probably get the coil sold separatley soon.

This is an absolutely brilliant idea, especially more so due to the fact that it's just an upgrade to the existing device and not a whole new pill 💊
Yes where possible we do not want people to have to purchase whole new devices. The world has enough ewaste already. luckily a lot of the RAPT stuff connects to the internet so we can continue to release more firmware upgrades rather than need to change the whole device over. Quite a lot can be achieved in firmware.

I got two pieces of foam. One is a crescent shape the other a half moon and both came separate and not attached to the coil. It looks like there's only one piece on the video. I can't tell. Do I use both or pick the one I like the most? A simple diagram or video close up and I'd know. I tried watching the video but at the very moment I might see the answer the pill moved off screen and all I got was a good look at the stainless steel table top instead. So I thought I'd try the QR code that came on the box that says there's a PDF that has the full instructions but got a 404 Not Found code. For a moment I'm thinking is this Kegland or Comedy Company's Bastards Incorporated? Hopefully the PDF link will be working before long. I'll be returning to wired charging for the time being until I can get some simple and clear instructions. Cheers.
Can you please email us a photo so we can better give you advice. It sounds like maybe you have accidentally been send an additional piece of foam but it's best to confirm with photos.
You might want to re-record the video since the key thing about the assembly (sticking the coil on the end of the pill, roughly at 5:10) is off camera. When trying to do that part, I put it on in the wrong angle and when I removed it to fix it, one of the super tiny wires broke, rendering the device useless. $30 down the drain ...
If you are in Australia can you please contact our Australian customer service team and we will sort out a replacement for you. At the end of the day we want to just make sure all customers are having a good experience.

I’m having the same problem! The ring is very far from the bottom weight, I just can’t stick the ring to the weight. If it does stick to the weight, the ring will not fit into the plastic bottom!

I bought a wireless charger for my Pill through AliExpress. Great idea and it worked fine the first time I used it. I plugged in the charging base today and am getting rapidly flashing sequential red and green lights, (it didn't do that before). Sadly the Pill will no longer charge on the Rapt base. I know I setup the Pill correctly because the coil "donut" is centered perfectly. Plus, the Pill seems to charge ok with my cell phone's wireless charger. The Pill light flashes and I can access it via the web interface when it's sitting on my phone's wireless charger. Is there a way to reset the Rapt charging base or is it cooked after just one use?

Yes we will probably also have another model of pill with the wireless charging pre-installed too.
It would be good to be able to access the calibration from the rapt app menu
Not a charging question but Pill related: What's the max recommended pressure the pill can be subjected to? Without the o-rings leaking, for example.
This question is with spunding (for carbonation) at 30psi in mind. I'm not necessarily concerned with accuracy at this point in the process.
Tested in house at typical fermentation pressures, so not higher than 20psi. Proceed at your own risk at 30psi
Leveling issue: The coil does not sit correctly/level. New magnets are smaller and with the two pieces foam, the coil still does not sit level with the bottom of the board. I don't want to add more foam since that may throw off the total weight. :( Leads are very fragile. I can send pic.
Yep I had same issue and trying to view the critical video on putting it on was out of shot!

We do not have plans to do this as some customers prefer to save the money. So for the foreseable future it's a sold separatey item

Maybe for a "pill 2.0" there can be one fully enclosed, with wireless charging only. This way there won't be any trouble with umidity getting inside it.
I think it's still a good idea to be able to open it up as customers will eventually need to change the battery after maybe 5years. So we dont want the device to end up in ewaste.
FYI, it's not WiFi, you keep saying wifi charging... It's just wireless charging

Just an FYI. I have just received my charger and hit the QR code to double check the instructions. It only mentions replacing 1 magnet not two like in the video
It's definitely two weights and we ship two weights with the wireless charger. I will get someone to fix up the instructions.

Yes this is available now. You have to be running the latest firmware and also you need to be running a profile. The alerts can be set to a profile. You will get notifications by email and if you want mobile push notifications you need to install the RAPT app.
I cant figure out how to put this bloody thing together. You missed the main part of the video. I cant get the coil to sit in the middle

Do you still have to open it to enter calibration mode with the charger upgrade?
We are currently doing a trial on firmware that will allow us to shake the device to get it back into AP mode so you can initiate the calibration. This may be useful for people who want to get into AP mode while in the fermenter as you can shake the fermenter to get the unit into AP mode.

Interesting parts of the instructions are out off the frame and Wireless Qi charger not Wifi charger.

I bet this will make charging so much easier, but I wish I could actually use mine. I cannot get it to connect to the WIFI in my house. I can connect to a guest WIFI, but not the main WIFI in my house.

5 comments on the product and video: 1. A small printed manual should come in the box (especially for the price). 2. The Pill comes with 2 weights but the speaker says it come with only one. So that is confusing. 3. The camera is not following the speaker’s hand at some crucial moments. 4. The video doesn’t show how to put the 2 foam bits, just like it was preinstalled. More confusion. I don’t want to be seen as picky, but if you want to do a professional video, all thoses detailes should be worked out before releasing it. 5. The QR code on the box links to the website, not to the instruction sheet. Thanks.
Ohhh, and someting else: the 2 foam bits are not thick enough to clear the board…

Ok, fortunately I also purchased a couple of the pills already made up, and I’m able to look at those, this instructional video is absolutely terrible,
So the half moon sticks onto the end of the weight, the crescent moon sticks onto the coil, then those two pads stick together, there is no mention of this on the video, and half of what his doing is off camera!!!
Wow - Awesome device but HORRIBLE video. Redo the video with one person doing the work and another person recording. Do some BASIC editing. Get OFF the metal table and so on. Half the time the item was off the screen (not just off the center).
Oh and sell the device with WiFi Charger pre-installed please..
We make great products. But the video could be a bit better, for sure! We are alreeady selling Pills with the Wireless chrger pre-installed :)
Can you get into calibration mode by putting onto wireless charger? Or do you still have to open it up like the ‘old’ way.
Also, will the Pill do firmware updates (when on) the wireless charger?
The charger base station is not something that we can update firmware. We are restricted to the QI charging protocol
