I've personally been incredibly motivated to speak on this for years as ive come to realize how BAD it is. So this is one sitiation i wanted to bring to light thats just insane.
The whole “I’m a psych student so I’m going to psychoanalyze everyone” tells me she isn’t a psych major for the right reasons. Saying this as a psych major.
i've known a couple of psych majors like this who seem to only be picking their major because they want free reign to judge people and excuse any horrific assumptions made about others (that they definitely have no right to diagnose!) as "just psychoanalyzing, lol!" i am so sorry to all the psych majors who got into it because it's something they genuinely care about, people like marina are giving you such a bad name.
😂 How INSANE 😂 Can you imagine if this event were a wedding or funeral?! Lawd. The AUDACITY to complain when someone else paid, and you weren't even on the invite list in person.
I heard it from DWKT and it surprises me some people have this much audacity. The only thing I learned is why some people refuse to have plus ones at their parties/events now. I never understood it before but after this, I get it now.

Something my therapist said when something really bad happened to me and I couldn’t wrap my head around it was “be grateful that you don’t understand the actions of bad people because it probably means you’re just a generally good person”. Super helpful.

You can get there, but you have a lot to learn and saying, "I'm a psych major, sooo [I'm going to people watch and analyze people]" is a very cringy way of saying you don't know what you don't know. Also, being a psych major could mean anything from you've just picked your major but haven't started classes yet to you're a day away from your degree. I am also of the belief that your undergrad degree has very little to do with who you are and who you're going to become so talking about yourself in terms of what degree you're GOING to get is cringe, even though I and a lot of my classmates did a lot of this the first two years of school. The difference is that we didn't have Tiktok yet, so the only people who saw us be this way were our Facebook friends

I went to Vegas recently for my birthday, and there's so much more fun things in Vegas other than partying or drinking. Like there's cool places to go, like m and m world, enjoy the shopping malls, the fancy casinos (without gambling) and the cool buildings!

I'm a non-drinker and went with my family to Vegas. Here's just SOME of the fun things we did that didn't involve drinking . Went to the bellagio to see the conservatory . Saw a magic show . Saw a cirque du soliel show . Went to area 15 and saw amazing artwork, rode a zipline and went to an interactive art exhibit called Omega Mart . Went to some casinos . Had some seriously delicious food And this is just the stuff that WE did on ONE TRIP. There's so much amazing stuff you can do in Vegas without drinking, and her saying otherwise makes me think she's one of those people who can't have fun without being drunk. That's boring as hell.

As a therapist with an actual bachelors degree in psychology and a masters in social work, I have so many thoughts about homegirl. Also, partying/going out is not the same as drinking all day 😂 my partner and I just went to Vegas last month for his aunt's wedding. We did fun, family friendly stuff during the day, and we went out clubbing at night, but we had maybe one drink each night, and often split the one between us. We went to Encore nightclub, we went to a strip club, we went bar hopping, and just danced and had a great time meeting new people and enjoying the nightlife. But we were never drunk, and often we weren't drinking any alcohol at all because we just enjoy dancing and spending time together sober

The vegas bachelorette story reminded me of my best friends bachelorette weekend. We went to chicago, all bought outfits to go clubbing, were so excited, etc. but on the way back from dinner, the bride was like "would you guys hate me if I don't want to go out...?" We were all SO RELIEVED. We went to a liquour store and then played drinking games in our pjs at the airbnb. It was so much fun.

Its the fact that she's done this BEFORE too, she literally has a storytime series where she talks about how horrible it was that her friend was upset with her when she tried to make her FRIENDS BRIDESMADE party in Vegas about what SHE wanted to do.
There was exactly ONE birthday party where I actually had a problem with, and it really wasn't even because of the party itself, it was just the fact that people were being so unsafe and I felt like I had to play party pooper by taking everyone's keys because I genuinely was afraid they'd try to drive while extremely intoxicated. I also spent the whole night taking care of people who were puking, cutting people off from the drinks when they were much too drunk, and keeping people from hurting themselves. The only reason I had a problem with that party was cause I felt like I couldn't just relax and have fun or at least one of my friends was gonna end up dead from something EXTREMELY preventable.
Honestly good on you for being the "party pooper", I know it was stressful for you but you absolutely did the right thing. I'm the same way, idgaf if I seem uncool, if I saw you drinking you're not driving, period. You can hate me, but at least you're alive to do so 🤷🏾♀️
She did not even need to say anything about her time at the party. Saying she needs to "be honest" and saying "this is my opinion and I'm not changing it" are hiding the fact that the issue isn't that she didn't have a good time, but that she publicized it for no reason whatsoever. She didn't need to respond to the person asking if she had a good time and certainly didn't need to make a video about it. Heck, even if it was a regular brand event I doubt she always has to give a review of what went on, whether she liked it or not. It took more effort to make the multiple videos and posts than it would have to just not say anything.

When people say I am an honest person, it is often code for I am an asshole to people but stuff their feelings because I was just being honest. At times I’ve not enjoyed things I’ve been invited to but I’ve still always been gracious and thanked the people for inviting me and said I had a good time.

Sure things come up in a group setting or out with friends where my therapist ears stick up but I am off the clock! There is no diagnosing or wanting to give my friends or family therapy in the streets as 1) extremely unethical - dual relationships, informed consent, etc. 2) my identity is not based in what I do for a career. I went to Vegas recently for my birthday, and there's so much more fun things in Vegas other than partying or drinking. Like there's cool places to go, like m and m world, enjoy the shopping malls, the fancy casinos (without gambling) and the cool buildings!

I'm a non-drinker and went with my family to Vegas. Here's just SOME of the fun things we did that didn't involve drinking
. Went to the bellagio to see the conservatory
. Saw a magic show
. Saw a cirque du soliel show
. Went to area 15 and saw amazing artwork, rode a zipline and went to an interactive art exhibit called Omega Mart
. Went to some casinos
. Had some seriously delicious food
And this is just the stuff that WE did on ONE TRIP. There's so much amazing stuff you can do in Vegas without drinking, and her saying otherwise makes me think she's one of those people who can't have fun without being drunk. That's boring as hell.

Also, partying/going out is not the same as drinking all day 😂 my partner and I just went to Vegas last month for his aunt's wedding. We did fun, family friendly stuff during the day, and we went out clubbing at night, but we had maybe one drink each night, and often split the one between us. We went to Encore nightclub, we went to a strip club, we went bar hopping, and just danced and had a great time meeting new people and enjoying the nightlife. But we were never drunk, and often we weren't drinking any alcohol at all because we just enjoy dancing and spending time together sober

The vegas bachelorette story reminded me of my best friends bachelorette weekend. We went to chicago, all bought outfits to go clubbing, were so excited, etc. but on the way back from dinner, the bride was like "would you guys hate me if I don't want to go out...?" We were all SO RELIEVED. We went to a liquour store and then played drinking games in our pjs at the airbnb. It was so much fun.

Its the fact that she's done this BEFORE too, she literally has a storytime series where she talks about how horrible it was that her friend was upset with her when she tried to make her FRIENDS BRIDESMADE party in Vegas about what SHE wanted to do.
There was exactly ONE birthday party where I actually had a problem with, and it really wasn't even because of the party itself, it was just the fact that people were being so unsafe and I felt like I had to play party pooper by taking everyone's keys because I genuinely was afraid they'd try to drive while extremely intoxicated. I also spent the whole night taking care of people who were puking, cutting people off from the drinks when they were much too drunk, and keeping people from hurting themselves. The only reason I had a problem with that party was cause I felt like I couldn't just relax and have fun or at least one of my friends was gonna end up dead from something EXTREMELY preventable.

She did not even need to say anything about her time at the party. Saying she needs to "be honest" and saying "this is my opinion and I'm not changing it" are hiding the fact that the issue isn't that she didn't have a good time, but that she publicized it for no reason whatsoever. She didn't need to respond to the person asking if she had a good time and certainly didn't need to make a video about it. Heck, even if it was a regular brand event I doubt she always has to give a review of what went on, whether she liked it or not. It took more effort to make the multiple videos and posts than it would have to just not say anything.

Sure things come up in a group setting or out with friends where my therapist ears stick up but I am off the clock! There is no diagnosing or wanting to give my friends or family therapy in the streets as 1) extremely unethical - dual relationships, informed consent, etc. 2) my identity is not based in what I do for a career. I had the absolute worst/best birthday last year. Best in the fact that I FINALLY had a much needed hysterectomy 2 days before my actual bday, and worst in the fact that I found out which family & friends who would be by my side when I needed them. It was a very quiet & lonely birthday & recovery
