    Now that is what I call a complete musical 8 track restoration. Job well done, and if there is any tape stretching, the newly added music would take that into effect and wouldn't change the speed. Probably never sounded better

      It was so strange, that was the first one I decided to put in and listen to. It totally blew me away as that was the first time that ever happened to me. I immediately tried the next ones but all good, that was the only one! It wasn’t until about a month ago when I got on a Cooper kick and decided it was time to reclaim Alice Cooper’s Killer on tape.

    Man I loved that intro and that line from 'Be My Lover'. It definitely sums up rock & roll in the seventies. Back when a rock star's name would raise the eyebrows of the president or Johnny Carson. Times have definitely changed. Great to see you back Jeff. I started watching this earlier today. I had half the comment written and I put my computer in sleep mode. Such a great album too. OK. First off. Did someone actually record that music over the Killer album? I did not think that doing so was possible because I never knew you could tape onto a store bought 8-Track tape. I thought that they may have goofed at the pressing plant. I was very impressed with the way that you did the fades. The increase/decrease so that you could include Halo Of Flies and Dead Babies exactly the way that it was on the original 8-Track. Talk about taking the extra steps. That was brilliant. If I ever get around to playing my 8-Tracks and something similar occurs. You best believe that I will be giving you a ring to walk me through the fixing.
    Outstanding work Jeff. I have seen how to clean vinyl, flatten vinyl, cut vinyl, spin vinyl, brush vinyl and even throw vinyl records like a Frisbee. But this was the first time in the VC that I saw anyone bring a classic 8-Track 360° and back to its original format. Well done. Definitely put a smile on my face. Have a super evening. I will catch up with you soon~

      Hey there Rob!
      Well thank you so much, I’m glad to hear the intro grabbed your attention enough to stick around for the rest of the video....LoL : ) I know we both enjoy those classics from the 70’s. Answering your question...YES ! someone actually had the nerve to record over that amazing album, well in this case, a tape. Yes it’s doesn’t matter if it’s a blank tape or already recorded on, the 8-track recorders can’t differentiate between either, I use to do it all the time when I was younger. An old bootleg or something in the collection that was a double or something I just didn’t listen too. Whoever did the recording took it from the radio, several songs started with a DJ announcing something and then cutting it off for the easy listening instrumental music, he probably figured well it’s cheeper then buying blank tapes. Depending when it was done, were blank tapes still even available to buy ?
      The fade in and out is definitely something worth while since the original tape and cartridge wasn’t in bad shape, I felt it really needed to be and sound as close to the original since it is the only copy I own on the tape format and who knows where it’s going to wind up after I’m gone.
      If you ever revive your tape collection and have issues I’m definitely no more than a email or call away, in fact maybe we can even talk Lj into helping out since he loves the format himself and we’ll just have to make a day of it and document the whole meeting. I appreciate all the very kind words in your comment and always finding time for me to support my channel and watch my videos, you are a great friend!

    Hey Jeff,
    My time with 8 track players and tapes were very brief in comparison to rest of the media. My mom's totaled my first car, those ugly 1979 4-Cyl. mustang that I got brand new for $4k. LOL. Those car had the name of the sports car but the look and performance of grandma's sedan. I think that was the only car that had 8 track only player. Still, I was very proud of that car because it was a first car I bought from money I saved up from my part time job. I only drove that car for one year. My dad gave me his 'leisure van' of the time in place of my totaled mustang. As bad as the cheap mustang was, the leisure van was not an upgrade for me. It wasn't really cool to have those during my high school years. LOL. Anyways, it had both cassette player and 8 track player. So cassette tapes were my medium of choice in my high school and college years. I really don't know you could record on 8 track tapes until I saw your video today. So each track must have a fixed length if you have to worry about a song switching over to a different track??? Very interesting video as always. You already know I love these type of videos. It was fun. Be safe and see you soon, Jeff.

    • @JefferyRusnock
      @JefferyRusnock  4 года назад +1

      Hey NammaN, I totally understand the eight track format wasn’t and isn’t for everyone.
      Love hearing your stories however about your vehicle mishaps, I still laugh thinking about you telling the close call with your Corvette and the truck driver watching it all play out right before his eyes. A leisure van during high school...wow I’m so sorry to hear that buddy, the Mustang definitely screams independence and is a bigger chick magnet for sure. I really think you should write a book with all these wonderful stories and share them with the world.
      Yes recording on 8-track tape is a little more daunting than the cassette tape since it doesn’t have rewind and not all had fast forward so if you mess something up you have to
      go forward all the through the track and start over. Yes this Alice Cooper tape is exactly 9 minutes long per track and without the tape counter telling you the exact time of the track it’s all guess work or trying to watch a clock or stop watch is still not as accurate since pushing in the tape automatically starts the tape counter perfectly each time without fail. Sorry for the late reply back last several days of work were sort of busy and late ending but have a 3 day weekend to look forward to! Hopefully parents and entire family still doing well, we are both fine and hopefully continue as such Nam.
      Take care buddy and talk soon! ~

    Jeff, this is an awesome video, buddy! How terrible is that when you pop in an Alice Cooper 8-track and it's something like Glen Miller Orchestra taped over it.?! LOL There is a fine art to recording onto an 8-track, as I am sure you are already well aware, especially with the two tracks fading out and fading in on different programs. Your new tape sounds great! Glad you were able to get that original music in it's true analog format back onto the tape where it belongs. Hope you are doing well, my friend. Stay safe and be well. Hey Billy, wonderful hearing from you. I was totally blown away when I first tried it a couple years ago and heard the instrumental music. Interesting. Being in the UK, I find Eight Track Tapes such a bizarre medium to listen too. Cassette Tapes were available more over here in 1969 and obviously do not have the breaks in the tracks. I suspect cars having eight track machines sold the medium in the USA. They did sell Eight Track Tapes here in the UK, but I cannot recall ever seeing a player for them.

      Hey there Robert!
      So nice hearing from you once again my friend! I’ve heard that several times from folks in the UK about 8- track taps not being popular. As a kid I was brought up on them and vinyl until cassettes came around but I always had a soft spot for that format and still sound as great now as they did 40+ years ago. I just can’t give up my taps as long as they keep playing since so many of them are ones I don’t have on the vinyl or cassette and would definitely miss the music and enjoyment that they bring each time I sit down and listen to them!

So about a year ago I got a Canadian copy of KISS The Originals and the cover has nasty duct tape residue on it... Would you possibly know of anyways of removing to residue without ruining the album cover? Thanks, Justin.

    • @JefferyRusnock
      @JefferyRusnock  4 года назад +1

      Hey Justin,
      Not a misprint, someone actually recorded these songs off the radio! There was a DJ’s voice before he or she could stop the recording, I have a few old tapes that I recorded over myself that weren’t being used or doubles,a lot cheeper then buying blanks.
      I don’t have any good way to remove residue, I tried once with goo gone that helped but don’t go past where you need it or it may leave a mark...either way you’ll have something but maybe won’t look as bad.
      Thanks for watching and good luck with your album! I have two copies myself, US and Canadian! Very different packaging.
