I have NEVER KNOWINGLY used Tunneling.I haver been struggling with sharing directories between win10 & 11 on my LAN. This looks like a solution. Thanks SO MUCH for the great presentation!
That sounds awesome. Do the Remote Host needs to have all required extension installed for debugging (let's say Python). Or is it sufficient to have those extensions installed on the remote client machine?
I wonder if this works with my companies security setup and whether our security teams would allow it. A compromised work pc with someome remotely executing code is a bit scary.
I tried this a while back, the only thing I hate about this is that your host has to be awake or else the tunnel will shut off without being able to get back in.
Does this work even when the pc is not turned on or does both devices need to be turned on at the same time for this to work? 👀 I always wanted to use my tablet to code but the .dev feature for the browser is limited.
It's all nice and dandy, but most of us will eventually find this not helping because the video is missing a crucial point: how can VSCode forward the port of the remote dev web server to my local machine? IMHO, editing code remotely is not that big of a deal and is only 10% of our headaches.
You literally had the windows side by side. And then wasted the opportunity to show how it changes on one side while you edit the other. Why? Switching between different (full screen) windows is nice, but doesn’t show how cool it really is.

So basically you could use it as some sort of "Code Together" too, very nice!
You can already do that with live share
This is awesome. I am gonna try accessing vscode of my work machine instead of RDPing.
Can I run from vscode to vscode? Rather than web browser?
Title is a bit misleading : you're accessing your VsCode, not your "computer"
You're literally accessing your computer though
nicely done feature! thanks for sharing dear dude)!
This is awesome I don't have to keep everything in the cloud. New to coding this will help keep things simpler for me
Stunning.
Thank you so much.
Gonna try it out on Monday
Dos it share the code output too? Like rhe web page etc? Or just the code?
Cool!
even Microsoft team is using Apple OS and Macbook?
Can we run the project and access cli in client?
The title is a misleading thou but that's good piece
Is it possible to copy files from the local computer to the tunneled computer via the command line? If so - how?
Is there a possibility to bring SSIS development using visual studio code
That sounds awesome.

But can you actually run that testui script from your iPad? Whether is Playwright or Selenium?
Fantastic
Thank you so much 😀
What’s the point of such feature? 😢 We can’t even see how the output looks like.

how to explore all the files/folders of the project? it looks live share is more convenient.
How is this different to just using git?
Somehow I assumed that you are going to access the computer (like in a terminal). It's more like accessing a code file from a remote machine.
You're just using SSH with Public Key Cryptography no?
Awesome
Glad you liked it.
Can we remote into WSL?
Yes, you can
When will this support DevContainers?
Hi what are the benefits of this over using VSCode and SSH?
SSH need public ip for your remote machine that is not always that easy and possible
More interesting thing about performance vs ssh
Super
Thanks

both device needed to be turned on, i tried, but it is still cool enough
What about the terminal?
This feature seems a security risk to me!
You can open terminal on client VSCode and your commands is executed on host machine
Gitpod is a better option for remote vscode access. A free tier is enough for an individual.
Can it work even if remote host if shut down or has no Internet connection?
nope
No
Unfortunately, no. Host & internet needs to be up.
@@code cos office PCs are not mostly left on, unless servers or other critical work PCs

port forwarding is also supported
nothing can replace vscode
We need this for real Visual Studio...
only issue is that we cannot compile
Yes, I used it before.
I like the idea but I don't like my ISP connection speed.
man that was aqsome
Thank you!
Plot twist: this video was sponsored by Apple
