I'm actually glad they are doing the right thing. Yes I love the original but I also love the remakes. The remakes are so beautiful and very dark when it gets close to the ending or fights or songs.
I'm a kid, well teen, and I learned about all the older Disney movies! Even stuff like Wizard of Oz, honestly I prefer the newer look, but the stories were just better back then. (my opinion+nostalgia)
