I’m still enjoying this video. I wish you would perform again and update us. Where did you land after graduation, do you still play? How big are the kids etc?
I can’t believe I’m just now finding you on the tube. Your style is so beautiful and pure and the youngling singing makes me cry 😭. Never stop playing Sarah!
Always love your videos and enjoy watching them as I try to learn clawhammer. You are definitely one of my favorites! If I can ask, when did you start learning? Did your family play music and did you learn some from that? Or, did you just decide to learn one day? How long have you been playing? Guess I'm asking what is your history and story of getting into clawhammer banjo, if you don't mind sharing? Thank you!
Just great - there's a lot of very nice stuff going on when you play and sing, (not counting babycake's accompaniment!). Could listen to this for a long time.
My absolute favorite version of Angeline. Thank you both! I'm in the process of learning it now on my Bart Reiter Standard. My first "serious" banjo, and I love it.
Jean-Pierre Devin You are too kind! Alas, in addition to being a busy mom of three I'm also working on a biology degree, so free time is tight and I just don't find the time to play these days. Hopefully this summer I'll be able to get back into it!
This video first turned me onto your playing as I love this song, and I've ended up binge watching most of yours now. I love it. Such pure stripped back music, the banjo and vocals. I'd love to hear you cover Ewan MacColl or Nick Drake. That's not a request though, but I'd check them out. They're from England. Thanks again and keep posting, I love it! Jason
Sarah, what strings do you use for your banjo? I'm looking to improve the tone of my current banjo and I love the tone of your banjo (especially in this video). I'm starting to get discouraged because I'm not happy with how my banjo sounds. If there are any other suggestions you have to emulate your sound, I'd love to know. Thank you very much! Excellent playing. I absolutely love your RUclips channel, I'm excited for your next video. Thanks for uploading such great content!
I wish I could play my banjo again, it's been gathering dust in the corner of my room because I've been too busy with school and work that I have neglected it for so long :( At least listening to you play makes me feel better.
Rich Day It makes a bit of a muffled sound which I really like, and it's not quite so loud for when I'm just dinking around at home. I can change the degree of muffle/volume depending on how firmly I wedge the cloth in there.
Here are the lyrics from the wikipedia entry Angeline the baker lives in our village green, The way I always loved her beats all you ever seen. Chorus Angeline the baker, her age is forty-three, I bought her candy by the peck, and she won't marry me. Chorus Her father is the miller, they call him Uncle Sam. I never will forget her, unless I take a dram. Chorus Angeline is handsome, Angeline is tall, They say she sprained her ankle a-dancing at the ball. Chorus She can't do hard work because she is not stout, She bakes her biscuits every day, and pours the coffee out. Chorus I'll never marry no other girl, no matter where I go. I said I'd marry Angeline just twenty years ago. Chorus The last time I saw her was at the county fair. Her father run me almost home and told me to stay there. Chorus[7] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Baker
It shouldn't have taken me so long to figure out what was wrong with your head... a towel. I stuffed mine with socks (clean ones) so I shoulda picked up on it (get it? Picked up - banjar), but mine isn't opaque. All that aside, Great song, Great job.
Jake Ray I have wondered this for years. 😂 In the interest of finally sleeping at night, I have decided that it means she poured the coffee out... into cups. To serve. At the bakery. Ah oldtime, how we love you and your weirdly ambiguous telephone-whisper-game lyrics!
When I cross to the other side I want to be listening to this... And when I get there, I want to hear it some more.
Beautiful work Sarah! Thanks!
Sweet! Thank you both for singing!! Banjo was clean. Good job😊❤
I think we need to hear more from the child in the room. Brings big smiles to my face & heart ❤️ 😊😊😊
I love seeing the babies growing up hearing their Mommies & Daddies making music. Well done!
I'm so grateful I grew up with mine playing music!
You play with a LOT of soul.

My absolute favorite version of Angeline. Thank you both! I'm in the process of learning it now on my Bart Reiter Standard. My first "serious" banjo, and I love it.

If theres a heaven, it has a Bart Reiter standard with a t shirt in it
Love your voice!
me and my best friend are playing this for a talent show and you helped so much thanks!!
The baby wants to sing along. It’s cute. Hope you’re doing well.
I love the patience you have with your kids and pay attention to them even when you're trying to play and sing.... A good Mom.....
Amazing as always
Can you make the baby scream in tune? I think she produced an A# when a C was needed.
you tube did not exist when i was learning 1975s>>> it is very convenient for players 2020's. Angeline sounds good with didgeridoo.
My favorite tune! Just the prettiest melody ive ever heard. Clawmer beats the 3 finger roll everytime!
Sounds so great - one of my favorites - I think the Kids like it too
Thank you for sharing this with us!
Nice!
Very Nice!

Sarah Nichols all the best for your degree then I'm sure you deserve it. Take care.

Sarah, Are you playing in double C tuning? I love this version of the song and am trying to figure things out.
Thomas Parker Yes! I learned it from tab available on Mike Iverson's banjo website, if that is helpful.
2:31 What lively backing vocals you've got there!

Outstanding! I’m just curious. Why do you put stuff in the pot? Also, love the baby singing along.

Willem Cerf Old songs like that have dozens of variations
Are you in Double D tuning?
I wish I could play like you! - from an English admirer.

Who built your banjo?
It`s a Bart Reiter Standard.Mine is a Vega Little Wonder.
why did she pour the coffee out?
