This music though.. 🎶😍 it instantly takes me back to when I first began to watch your channel, Rusty. And in Summer 2017 after my mom passed away I'd sit outside at night at her house and binge watch your vids. Hearing this song just now as I clicked on this video instantly took me back there like it was yesterday..wow..please don't ever change it. It's your signature music...thanks for the tick warnings ⚠️..it's no joke!! 🙏👍
As someone whose life has been absolutely destroyed by lyme disease, bartonella, babesia, erlichia and mycoplasma from ONE tick bite. Please be scared of these things !! It took 12 years to diagnose and I was almost in a wheelchair and put out to pasture. After hundreds of thousands of dollars and many years in treatment, I'm as good as I'm getting. The effects will be with me for life 😢 Please, take a bite seriously. Not everyone gets the rash !
Ditto that from 1991 to 2008 (diagnosed 1993). I will share this as I did on another comment, for what it may still be worth to you. The single most effective antibiotic is very high-concentration colloidal silver - 5,000ppm at least. It's harmless and crosses the blood-brain barrier. Acetyl L-carnitine is invaluable at improving energy, metabolism, brain function under duress - acetyl form only, as it crosses the blood-brain barrier and the regular form does not. Strict blood-type diet is the best thing for getting actual nutrition to the body while all your digestive and metabolic processes are rendered deficient by the onslaught of Lyme and co-infections and even more, the pharmaceutical coctails involved in treating Lyme. These are the 3 topmost supports 16 years of dealing with advanced Lyme taught me. The way out of it is purely personal, individual and spiritual. I had plenty of time and plenty of experts to learn first-hand. Burgdorfer himself was engaged in my treatment (that is not a recommendation). The answer is NOT uniform and and it is not even medical. The disease will steal every aspect of your life - career, money, ability, energy, memory, autonomy, relationships, personality - your entire SELF, and it will force you to come to full terms of the challenge. I did defeat it, but thru no avenue of Western, Alternative or Natural treatment costing me hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of my life.
My brother Richard contracted lyme disease in 2011 or 2012. He was told he was getting tested for lyme and RMSF after he started feeling bad. The tick had bitten him on his ankle and was feeding. They told him he was tested for both and results were negative. Turned out only RMSF test was done. The test records conveniently disappeared. He eventually tested positive later on for lyme disease . My brother went five months with no treatment and survived lyme. A new doctor with more competence and experience told him it was a miracle he was alive. My bro told me the doctor said “Richard, I’m looking at a dead man. I cant believe you’re sitting here right now!” I remember my brother’s pain and suffering. It had long lasting effects. He passed away 9 years later at the age of 52 due to cholangiocarcinoma which is a cancer that is rare and comes from parasitic worms found in fish and “dirty water” aka bile duct liver cancer. I think about him every day. Thanks for reading. Take care.
Rusty, you are my favorite channel. Your high strangeness storys and narration is incredible! I was diagnosed with lymes this spring, and i didn't know i had it for a long time, probably years. I was having neurological issues, nerve problems, forgetfulness/fogginess etc. I had to get a pick-line implanted in my arm and get antibiotics everyday for a month. I feel somewhat better, but i am still having some issues... I am 38, and will most likely have atleast some issues the rest of my life. Ticks are no joke. Thanks for the video rusty, this is important info.
PICC - peripherally inserted central catheter. I contracted Lyme disease, 7 years ago. It took two months of antibiotics to cure it. But, I had balance issues because of the disease and fell about 6 ft and as a result suffered a severe back injury. That injury continues to cause me chronic pain. Finally, if that wasn't enough, 2 years ago Iwas diagnosed with Alpha -gal meaning I am allergic to red meat. It is not a life threatening allergy, but makes me pretty sick and miserable if I eat any. Fortunately, I like seafood and chicken.
Someone I know became sensitive to red meat after being bitten by a tick. She did not make the connection to the tick bite for a couple of years, while struggling with many sudden and severe issues, such as arthritis, exhaustion and digestive problems. She only realized the problem was caused by a tick when she discovered that a person who had been at the same event where she was bitten, and had also been bitten, had similar and even more serious symptoms to the point of hospitalization.
Yup, you can actually get red meat allergy from a tick bite, happened to a friend of mine, he is a bioscientist, he even explained the mechanics of the reaction to me, but it was a tad bit beyond my understaning. He believes it was caused by a lone star tick when he was back in the US
Yes, Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), short for galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose, also known as the red meat allergy. It can be very mild or life threatening. Best of luck to your friend!
Thanks, Rusty, for a great reminder of how dangerous the outdoors can be. I have a friend that ended up with paralysis from Lyme Disease. Looking forward to another adventue with you.
So did Native Americans and early settlers have to deal with Lyme disease? No, Lyme disease was first classified in 1977, named after Lyme, Connecticut; which by the way, is located near 840 acre Plum Island Animal Disease Center. So did our own government engineer Lyme disease in the name of biological weapon research as some theorist claim? Did our own government fund gain of function research and invent covid? We will never know until we get transparency of our government.
Was thinking about you earlier and hoping that all was well. Thanks for another one! Ticks are no joke in the woods around me. I’ll get one or two on me sometimes just by taking the dogs in the backyard. Too busy getting attacked by mosquitos to worry about them crawling around until back indoors, haha. Permethrin has been a savior. Tick checks are a must, especially for the dogs.
I'm 76 yrs old. Grew up in rural central Saskatchewan canada. Farming land in that area was mostly smaller fields with lots of treed areas. As kids we were always exploring as big an area as we could possibly could. No trails just wandering through the trees and bushes wherever we could get through. Still have bushwhacking nightmares. Didn't even really know what a tick looked like until I was around 35 or 40. Now they're everywhere. Can't go anywhere without picking numerous ticks off your clothing. Even inlcluding unmaintained city parks well within city living areas. Initially they first appeared in the rural grassy treed areas but now they have even spread to the coniferous forest with minimal low growth vegitiation. As a person with a compulsion to explore new routes and destinations ticks have severely impacted where I can go. Its not a matter of will you end up with ticks on your person its how many and can you get them all off before one gets embedded. Tried all the ways of minimizing the risk (Rusty's diagram and more) with only moderate success. Change clothes outside, turn them inside out and give a good shake followed by washing and a few days later you feel a tickle somewhere on your body to find one marching to it's destination. Short while ago I stopped at a nice rural viewpoint overlooking a river. A place where many cars have packed the sparse grass totally flat. With ticks in mind parked the car so I could step on dirt and sparse packed grass. Walked only about 25 steps to take in the view and returned similarly. Had to brush half a dozen ticks off my lower pants before getting back in the car and during the hour drive home picked one off my neck. Tried numerous ways of removing embedded ticks including purchasing a few things designed for that purpose. Am no way affiliated with the product but the best thing I have found to remove ticks once they've embedded themselves is call the Tick Key. Can find it at most outdoor hiking related stores (amazon too). A small light tool that can carried on your key chain. Have read that using a tweezers is not the best plan because when you grab them with the tweezers it squeezes " tick juice" into your body. Sometimes covering the tick with a dab of dish soap first will help. I have read that the soap restricts their ability to breath through their body so they tend to back out themselves. I don't know if thats true but the dish soap tends to also soften your skin so they pull out easier. When they're just on your body or clothing it's quite safe to just grab them with your fingers, yell a bunch of bad words at them, throw them on the ground, stomp on them a couple times and watch them walk away. In the house they get deposited down the sink drain.
If I have to wear long sleeves to go on walks, I'll stay home. It might work out west but here in the midwest, you're much more likely to get a heat stroke.
I live in Crawford County, Michigan. Ticks are everywhere up here! I spray insecticide over my lawn and around my cabin, even in the crawlspaces. It took fours years to cut into my woods, a 7ft walking trail through the six acres by hand; a chainsaw; rake and shovel, and an old lawnmower... Last fall I tilled the trail and planted grass seed. The walking trail is 7ft wide and 2400ft long and curvy. I sprayed insecticide 6 weeks ago with a 20 gallon pull behind trailer the whole trail system. Couple days ago (carefully staying in the middle of the trail) we walked the trail. Had a nice walk with my wife. Ten minutes later my wife noticed a tick on her lower leg... After a walk in the woods ALWAYS CHECK FOR BUGS!! NASTY CRITTERS! Ticks are very hard to feel they don't move much nor are they fast.
I live in the U.K. and have had M.E. since 2005. I suspect a tick encountered during my very healthy hiking days was the cause. I am prone to nettle rash so a tick rash might have just fallen under the radar.
When hiking, stay in the middle of well worn trails. While that’s not always possible, especially with narrow or overgrown trails, you should always tuck your pant legs inside of your socks, tuck your shirt in your pants, and wear a hat/cap. Ticks don’t just settle on your body anywhere. They search for a spot to their liking, and that time period can vary. Once embedded in your skin though, it takes 3-4 hours for them to transmit diseases to you, so don’t panic. You’re not going to automatically get Lyme disease just because you have a tick. Also not all ticks even carry diseases
My brothers and I use to get ticks on us all the time when we were lil playing outside and my mom and dad would remove them by getting the tip of a something metal like a knife or sewing needle red hot and touching it to the tick and it always made them release. My grand folks said to never pull them out with tweezers cause it could leave the head behind cause major illness
using flame, heat, alcohol or any irritant like that causes the tick to instantly eject its contents INTO your body as it releases and it is exactly THE WRONG THING TO DO to avoid getting diseases from ticks.
Please check *fur babies* such as cats & dogs too. One of my cats (indoor only cat) now, he had a tick stuck in his eye corner. HIs eye! I pulled it off & the tick head was left in his eye corner. It took me some time to remove it all. He was fine over it poor fur baby

I heard going in the sauna a lot can help with Lyme disease. I always talk to a guy in there who has it

sorry for the loss of your brother.
My hubbs and I were just talking about how there needed to be more awareness surrounding ticks, and then Rusty makes this video.
Thanks, Rusty!

One of the scariest vids of yours I have seen.

Thanks for the timely PSA, Rusty!
Thank you for this psa. I have known people whose strength and mobility were destroyed by Lyme disease. Not all recovered.
Great refresher course. I forgot a couple of the points you highlighted.

Correct. Bill Gates was in on it. Now he's messing with mosquitoes
They are everywhere here in Jonesborough Tennessee
Thank you Rusty, and God bless.

Excellent information, presentation, and graphics, I appreciate it very much, thank you
Be careful folks Lyme disease is no joke it's quite painful next to Crater of diamonds state park in Arkansas
The tick is a real prick 😅
Had one on my hand when I woke up over Memorial weekend camping in voyageurs npark.
This is good information thank you rusty. Enjoy your day and evening keep bringing us more

Permethrin on your clothes and using some good deep woods/deet spray on your skin before your outings really helps.

Hello Rusty I've missed you! There is something very endearing about you even though the subject matter is sad.
I was itching like crazy watching this video! I really hate ticks. Almost died from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

Gott bless ya.. gute stuff Rust
There's about 5 different types of tics just in my backyard in southeast Georgia...
Good reminders !!
Think I had a tiny mosquito trying to suck blood from my arm when I woke up this morning and no idea where he came from. Little bastard.
This episode's got me itching...
If there's grass, there's ticks. I get ticks from working in my back yard. So far haven't gotten sick from them.

Dr. Dr. When I turn my arm this way it really hurts. What am I supposed to do?

🙋🏿♀️Hey Rusty💖🙌🏿

Ticks are so bad here in PA. My grandmother and I both found ticks on us already this summer just being outside for a short time.
I've been spraying permethrin on all hiking socks and shoes for a few years now.
My father in law has Babesiosis. Ticks are no joke!
Permethren ends the issue ...works that good
Use rubbing alcohol to loosen the tick up before plucking
How do the ticks receive the germs, I wonder.
Keep tweezers handy while outdoors.
Please check *fur babies* such as cats & dogs too. One of my cats (indoor only cat) now, he had a tick stuck in his eye corner. HIs eye! I pulled it off & the tick head was left in his eye corner. It took me some time to remove it all. He was fine over it poor fur baby
Tick’s one to know one 😂
