AS A SCOT, JAMIE ALMOST NAILED THE ACCENT THING. BUT HER WORDS ARE TRUE WE WILL MISS HIM IF WE KEEP LOOKING IN THE PLACES WE MET HIM. THIS NEW WORLD IS FINDING IN WORSHIP, HIS PRESENCE… THATS WHAT WE LONG FOR. AM 72 THIS YEAR,AND LOVE THE CURRENT MOVE. AMEN.
I was saved during the Jesus Movement..and thank God for it. All these decades later, I still get such joy hearing music by Honeytree, Keith Green, 2nd Chapter of Acts. Jamie's "And You'll Start Falling In Love" was the second song I heard on Christian radio after getting saved...still remember that. Honeytree's was the first. :D
This is exactly right. My parents were a British vicar and his wife, labouring and dying in an inner city church. Some people in a neighbouring Anglican church 'who smiled too much' introduced them to the infilling of the Holy Spirit and God saved us in our situation. I then found out about these wonderful, holy, ex-hippies who loved Jesus. I thank God for them. We can find Jesus at any moment or time, and he's the same today, yesterday and forever, but he works in surprising ways. He simply needs us to believe and trust him.
I listen to Growing Pains in the car all the time. Such an anointed album. Just love the piano tracks played by Keith Green, and Jamie's voice is so powerful. Still just as fresh as when I played the vinyl record on my parent's record player back in the early 80's but now I have the songs on my phone. That was a golden age of CCM. God brought so much fruit out of the Jesus movement.
We have a song called "1971" about the Jesus Movement on our channel. We came to the Lord Jesus during that Revival and thank God for the music ministries of folks like Jamie, Keith Green, 2nd Chapter of Acts, et al, who produced music that was reflective of our first love for Jesus!
Wisdom and truth from a mother's heart to God's ears and ours who yearn to see God working mightily through our own children! There's amazing power in prayer!! Amen.
I loved When Jamie talked about the incident in Scotland. I like her ability to imitate a Scotish singer; great, Jamie. It is great they worship God as well.
Yes. I agree with Jamie that children do have a harder time in the faith and having a Jesus movement than we I grew up. It was hard enough for me. This world is very sad; full of hate; andit seems no one get along and even right now, I feel broken-hearted. Covid makes things hard. All in all, I am glad I am not a child.
I hope Jamie and her family are well. I am thinking of when she said that she lost her voice. How sad! She seems really okay with that and still can minister through speaking. Children today do live in a much different world. I would hate being a child in this day and age; glad I am an adult.
Do you see Jamie often? I think I read that all her children were adopted and your last name sounds very familiar like something she wrote. Are you one of her children? I bet she was a great, loving mother.
@@bethkats3121 , The video shows Jamie only from the waist up, standing at the microphone, holding a water bottle in her right hand. I can only guess she's probably medium average height for a girl - maybe 5'4"-5'8". She is fit and moderately attractive. She appears to be wearing a white blouse, white denim jacket, plain and natural looking, with a modest gold necklace resembling small gold coins, pleasant facial features and little if any makeup. Jamie looks youthful, about mid-40s with a medium caucasian complexion, straight, shoulder-length, natural golden hair, parted 2 inches to right of middle, obscuring her ears & cheekbones, with bangs grown out to jaw length -Almost like she looked on her album covers from 45 years ago. It's hard for me to compare her face to that of any celebrity. She has a moderately round face with medium-set, downward-curved, caraway-seed eyes, an average straight nose, and slender, natural vermilion lips. She had longer blonde hair back in the 70s, but hasn't aged much, save for a few smile lines. I hope this description helps you. .
Thanks for the comment, St. Charles. That is a really well-done description! Jamie is about 67 from what I could tell by the year she was born. I know recently, her daughter, Jesse played on the Kelly Clarkson show in the band, Yall. I just wish I could talk to Jamie either in person, on the phone, or just have her message me on facebook. If I could, I would give her a big hug. Thanks again for the description!!!
Hi, Jamie. I am feeling sad right now. I know I should trust God more. Since my parents are getting older, I worry about their death and how sad I would be to lose them. I am crying right now in fact.
Jamie; Hope you read these. Your speeches and songs, and especially this speech inspires me a lot. I am thinking of the children in this generation and how horrible and unGodly a lot of people are! They are learning things in school that are not good. We need to pray for them because of the pressure.
Yeah, I was first from Hippy to Jesus in Durban, South Africa! Amazing, same experience, He was just so tangibly real. His love, oh man. That reality was everywhere, every day! The years have come and gone, we've seen them come and we've seen them go! My kids said ,Dad, you talk about it, but we've never seen it as you describe! Somehow we took them many times into churches which did more harm than good. My website, theadullamiteassociation. com says it all!
Sorry to hear she lost her voice. I married a girl from a very poor family. My rich parents were a witch and an agnostic who threw me out of the family when I got saved in the middle of law school, with them cutting me off with no notice paying out of state tuition. They tried to starve me out of the faith. We had nothing, lived in a 30 year old trailer, and all we had was a little 8 track tape recorder and a few clothes we kept in boxes because we had no furniture. We had a baby son. He would not sleep but would just bat the toys above him in his crib and would just quietly keep saying "tape" until he got our attention and we would put on one of our only two tapes. One of them was by Jamie and the other by the Good News Circle. I ran into the Jesus People when they disembarked from a twenty year old bus psychedelicly painted with Christian murals and scriptures in downtown Indianapolis. They were scruffier than anyone they witnessed to, but they had power. I was a bit confused but greatly rejoiced to see these bold Jesus hippies.
I liked hearing about the baby who wanted Jamie‘s tape on. It sounds like something I would say. I loved and still love music in all I listen to the first singer I heard of was EV Turnquist but I did hear Jamie‘s as I got older. I love Jamie Owens Collins music and I am so sorry and very sad that she lost her voice, but with gods will, he can heal her. He’s a great physician.
I am glad Jamie is doing work and writing for children. I want to tell you about my facebook group, Jamie Owens Collins Fan Club. I love you, Jamie and want you, or anybody interested to join!!!
I think this was great what Jamie had to say and I imagine myself there and I imagine myself hopefully meeting her sometime. I bet she is really loving and kind person. Thanks for posting this
Rick Schneblin I was wondering, do you think because of the COVID-19 that she is still ministering? I wondering if she’s probably isolated at home in quarantine like all the rest of us. I hope I can get in contact with her and I did post my number in a private messaged her on Facebook, but I assume it probably she’s not able to respond but not sure.
Beth, I highly doubt COVID will stop her from ministering any way she can. If you sent her a message via FB and you are not “friends”, chances are greater she will miss it. If you are friends, try again, or post a reply on one of her posts telling her what is on your heart.
Rick Schneblin thanks. I think she just last posted on March 26, 2018 when she and Dan Collins produced the Bible the podcast son of God. I posted many messages but I will still keep trying. She must be so busy she can’t post anything. Thanks
I can understand Jamie’s concern for her children considering the way the wourld is right now; some persecution involved, and much hatred. It was even hard for e at my school for the blind in Vinton, Iowa. Even when I was about 7 until much older did I feel like an outcast. I only went to this school was 5 years to when I was about 11. I didn’t tell Mom until maybe last year. I even am concerned about my nephews. I pray for them and their kids that they will witness and share their love for the Lord
It's amazing the Jesus People music that's now being discovered that never got popular. People are discovering it in thrift shops. It's known by the keywords Xian Psych. I have a big playlist in my account here. Hipsters are paying $1000 a record for some of it.
I really love Jamie’s sens of humor. God bless you, and Lord willing; may we hear a new album or your speaking somewhere. Please check your messages on messenger. I left a few messages for you. Thanks. Love you.
I love how Jamie prays in this particular speech. Jamie is very dynamic in her speech; and if there is a Jesus People Reunion, I could meet her. Rick, does Jamie get these forwarded to her? I did send a friend request. It later said on messenger, “Send Jamie a Friend request.” It did not say this when first messaging her. I would love to be able to talk to Jamie via messenger, but maybe before accepting my request, she maybe is afraid I am going to hack her FB account which I wouldn’t. I know someone who had it done to them; and I hate when people are not trustworthy. Please if you can, let Jamie know she can accept my request if she so chooses.
I have a question; do you ever hear from Jamie? If so, do you know where she is going to speak next if she’s going to have any upcoming seminars or women’s conferences? I live in Northwest Iowa, so if you could find out if she’s going to be in Northwest Iowa, I’d appreciate that. I cannot find anything on the Internet that shows if she’s speaking in where
Rick Schneblin thanks. I would love to be able to meet her sometime. Also, on her Facebook page I even gave her my phone number. If I cannot meet her in person, then I could either call her or she could call me or I’ll definitely see her in heaven. I left my phone number on Facebook, so if you happen to talk to her can you please tell me a tour I mean to call Beth Kats question thanks
Beth, Here was her reply, “I am not doing any speaking these days. My main focus is caring for my parents who are living with us and, until Covid hit, lots of involvement with our church. Just doing whatever God gives us to do at the moment, as always!”
Hi Rick. Thanks for forwarding her reply. Did you get that from Facebook? I haven’t heard from her from Facebook, so I thought maybe she wasn’t posting anything. It’s too bad her parents are well. I can see that because I know they’re getting older and they have sung for a long time. I will pray that her parents continue to do well and that if it is there time to go, that Jamie will see them in heaven when the time comes. Glad she’s doing what God is calling her to do. And thank Jamie for replying to me and she couldn’t even comment to me too.Rick Schneblin
Jamie is so blessed to have wonderful parents who are godly and who got her into the business of music in ministry. I heard Jamie speak at the Jesus people reunion on your RUclips channel and I really love listening to her voice. However, I am really sorry that she had lost her singing voice. Maybe she will get that back if it is the Lord‘s will. I’m sure she’d appreciate if I prayed for her and so she could get her voice back. She can reply to me too if she wants or if she can reply to you you can forward it to me like you just did OK thanks
I heard Jamie is not performing anymore. Does that mean she doesn’t speak anymore or does that mean she just doesn’t sing anymore? I hope she still speaks and I hope someday she has a podcast. If it is the Lord’s plan, I hope that she has some teaching CDs or a podcast.
I heard that she is very busy with personal stuff, including the care of her aging parents. As the Lord leads, she will minister online in some capacity. For now, it is just stuff close to home.
Rick Schneblin thanks for the reply. Her parents are very fortunate to have a caregiver like her. I’m sure she is really good at being a caregiver as well
Yes. Unfortunately, she lost that beautiful voice. However, we could pray that if it is gods will, she will get it back. If she doesn’t get back on earth, she would get it back in heaven. Maybe if she decides to she can make another album, but just sing songs and active lower. It is whatever see as in her heart and what the Lord calls her to do. I’m hoping to meet her sometime. Did you ever meet her?
@@bethkats3121 how did she lose her singing voice? That is a real shame. I always enjoyed listening to her and was in fact just listening to some old songs of hers before coming across this video looking for more of her songs.
I don’t know how she lost it. I do agree with you that it is a real shame. I know that she is taking care of her parents right now, so she is not speaking nowadays. However, I did hear that she was also taking care of some personal stuff, so I’m wondering if maybe she’s trying in someway to have surgery to have her singing voice come back.Strong Bear
