Hope all is well, dude. Very thorough and somewhat thought provoking rant. A reminder of the scope of this hobby in the broader world. Some people live and die by the plastic (not meant to be literal but lord do they feel like you've cut them to the quick), and to them, life is simply one big toybox. They are sad and lonely despite what kind of life they have outside of collecting toys and no matter how many toys they have. Glad you are always able to put things in perspective.

I grew up with family members in the military. I hold those who serve in high regard. My grandfather, my cousins, great grandfathers, Tony Roberts and even you, Chad, have given of yourselves so that we can be free. I know it sounds like a cliché, but you have fought for something bigger than yourselves. So that maybe, just maybe, a little child playing with a toy will not have to take up arms one day to defend himself and his family and can live in peace and freedom. Though I was never able to serve, the smile of a child is why I fight. Thank you for your service. And on this day to remember D-Day, Thank you to all who gave of themselves so this little boy could play with his toys and grow up to raise a family in freedom.

I didnt serve myself but I did spend 25 years in Law Enforcement, it takes a special kinda of person to do the things we do or may have to do, both here at home and across the sea. Thank you. There is a certian misunderstanding and negitive connotation previlant today when it comes mercenary's thanks to Pop Culture. There is a profund lack of historical knowledge and significance about them. The Swiss Guard, the Popes small but private army our mercenaries. After the fall of the Greek City states men from Sparta found work as Mercinaries spreading Greek Culture, Viking Rus found themselves protecting the Byzantine Emperor in Constantinople. Mercinaries have been used through out human history, I would argue that mercenary work is the worlds Second oldest profession. I guess you could argue in an Altruistic sense of is serving ones country more or less important then another, but it all comes down to "You gotta provide, you gotta eat"

My favorite character/armybuilder is Iron Grenadier and I liked the new one even though it is clearly inspired by the ones that came out on the anniversary, I just didn't like that the sword is on the right side and I thought Storm Shodaw was interesting, which is a character that I had in V2 when I was a child.

Completely agree with your rant brother. My rant...Hasbro's stewardship of Gi Joe has been a disaster and that gal they have as the marketing manager is mind blowing. She's better off in the My Little Pony department. Hasbro has already stated that they won't bring us a hooded CC because of the slavery aspect. They also won't make "Slave Leia" either. These goofballs who thought that a hooded CC was coming don't know shiz...they've forgotten that "knowing is half the battle".

The massive failures of every Joe line after RAH until the 25th line, Sgt Savage, Extreme, Sigma 6, Valor vs Venom, Spytroops, etc, shows that changing things up and coming up with new and totally different designs doesn't work.
Not sure why, but the original looks and weapons are what the mass majority want, no matter the scale.
The ‘failures’ of most JOE lines is Hasbro actually. One exec (who disliked the ‘war aspect’ of the IP) undermined Savage before it was even on shelves so she could create Extreme with the Kenner folks.
However - it’s not just JOE so I don’t necessarily fault that memberberries crap from them. It’s EVERY aspect of pop culture doing it.

The other thing I can't stand that you touched on. A lot of newer collectors only jumped on GI Joe classified because they were marvel Legends collectors.. a lot of them don't know about the lore or the history. Me I've been collecting GI Joe since I was a little kid in 1985 my older brother and his friends got me into it. So you know I hate it when they talk about characters and things and they don't have much knowledge but they act like they know more than some of us who have been doing this for 40 years. Great rant by the way.

Yeah that's pretty much the truth. I collect classified but I started with o-ring. I even collected GI Joe during spy troops and valor venom. The 25th the modern era. The only two segments of GI Joe I never cared for was GI Joe extreme. Extreme garbage. Sigma 6 is another line I never collected.

If there's one thing I know, it's that you know GI Joe! In fact, most of what I know about GI Joe, I've pretty much learned from your channel. I love what you do and I enjoy learning about stuff. Based on that, there was no way they were going to give us a hood with CC. I'm keen for the figure (I collect a small amount of Cobra stuff) cos I don't like that weirdly uniformed first release and want this version. Do i wish theyd make a hooded cobra commander? Yep. Hasbro is hasbro's worst enemy. They dictate their decisions on people who dont buy their product, doesnt know or understand the products, and by a hack producer who really doesnt make good movies. Of the new reveals I was only interested in dial tone and the iron grenadier cause I loved those figures as a kid. As usual the weapons are a disappointment. joe's should use nato weapons and cobra eastern block or scifi as far as I'm concerned. so things like the iron grenadier and snow serpent using a famas and slaughter using an AK is a wtf moment. what do they think the sarge is gunny highway from heartbreak ridge? I love that clint Eastwood movie BTW. I know it's inaccurate as hell but damn is it funny. 😅😅Why there is no one on the Gi joe team without any weapons knowledge/history or military experience is a real proplem for the line. Tony from analogue toys was right when he said the line used to try to honor some military history and put some accuracy into getting at least the military feel right. it's something the line hasn't had for years and why Hasbro sees that as something problematic is beyond me. As a kid Gi joe (and my dad) helped me recognize that people who serve in the military are good people who deserve respect for what they do. how is that a wrong thing Hasbro?

Lke the jet packs the royal navey is currently testing for boarding operations, the exo suits the us military tested, or if they are going to stick to using old 70s/80s weapons how about arming the figures with proper representations of the mp-5, G-3, FAL and sterling sub guns.
