He is funny "dealer is not trying to take your money" 🤣🤣
I had the same reaction to this nonsense comment. Of course he's trying to take your money, and I'm okay with that as long as he provides me with service of equivalent value. This comment goes down in the books as typical ridiculous hype.
Dealer is going to help in more ways than one. Not only will they let you know what should be replaced, because it may fail in the next 10 years... But they will make your boat sit higher in the water due to your wallet being lighter.
Very light wallet 😅
Hilarious that they say this isn’t a diy service item. Maybe not for everyone, but this is very easy for a lot of DIYers
First time sucks. After that, you learn to buy oem parts, have the tools and experience. Goes much smoother second time. Third time is a cake walk.
The fifth time you weld together your own service cradle
A lot of people like to service their own drives, would be nice to get a more detailed service tutorial from a expert like this.
They don't wanna do that, they are trying to scare you into service.

"The dealer isn't trying to take your money" LMFAO
"he is trying to do you a favor" HA
Didn't know the dealer was in the business of helping people🤣🤣🤣
I asked my mechanic for a ball park figure for a service and to put the transom right, after water started leaking through it.
He refused to give a figure, but repeatedly assured me that it wouldn’t be anything steep. $5589 later 😳
It was probably worth the job done, but I’ll have to keep this guy’s spectrum of ‘ not steep’ in mind on future work.
They’re in the business of making sure your weekends are good not money
@@50pence59 Gotta remember. You bust out another $1,000 for each phase of the repair/work.
Stealership is not trying to take your money and do you a favor. BS
OK! I will buy an outboard.
They sure do seem easier. Love my etec
Why to much for the Diy? Some people not only can't afford a dealers costs but have u tryed getting your boat serviced during season? Lol. Good luck
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that a boat owner should not be able to preform these services on their own. A little bit of knowledge and elbow grease will save you thousands in Labor charges over the years.
Last statement was hilarious
Just to put a new water pump in the parts 90 bucks the labor is 500 and it's a simple job
"The dealers not trying to take your money, hes trying to do you a favor" What world you live in???
Hello. Nice video. Could you tell me if a bravo 3 outdrive comes out in neutral or forward? I have a 2001 2855 bayliner. Thanks!
Very interesting, contemplating buying a boat with a inboard motor, good information.
Hello, I have a problem with MerCruiser gear lube Reservoir Dribble Valve leaking oil. When I remove the driveshaft unit, oil stops leaking. The valve appear to functioning normally. S.O.S
I thought he was gonna say change lube every time out ! LOL!!!
Getting an appointment to get a dealer to do this, let alone the cost, makes 'yearly' very difficult. Is it necessary to do yearly rather than go by a certain number of hours?
Ok every year I should have my drive taken off - it’s been 12 year’s for me and I have no issues
I just replaced my coupler, and gimble bearing, the coupler was $100 and a gimble kit with bearing and seals and bellows was $60, in the video he stated the coupler costs $1,000...... based off that I think the dealership just wants to help you out of your money
@@billcross3790 a bravo coupler is not 100$ at all. No way no how. Dealer price for coupler is 600$. What drive do you have.
@@billcross3790 I call BS!
Um dont buy it at the dealer? Google is your friend, you can buy it brand new for $100, my drive is a Bravo.
@@billcross3790 Merc part number 8M0098795? let me know where you're finding those online for 100 bucks and ill buy them all. You sure you're not looking at an aftermarket part?
If you want a boat with one of these drives you have 2 choices = 1. You will spend a lot of time & work on it (which I enjoy) OR 2. You will spend a lot of $$ on it. 3. would be some combination of the first 2.
Hello Boys. Nice channel. The ailment on my 2000 Sea Ray with the 3.0 Litre Mercruiser with power steering is slowly consistently going left and right in forward under low speed plane. 20 degrees left then 20 left over and over. You can point it straight, then there it goes. Is it in the rudder? I just replaced it and it has not been calibrated yet.
Did you solved the problem? Mine is doing the same!
"I'd like the favor service please..."
I need the info for a dealer near me.
Our boat repair shops are backlogged 4 month out and won't answer there phones..
Replace all that stuff yearly? I would suggest not getting a stern drive.
our dealer is 175 a hour lol haha
Thats why Yamaha took 90% of the Boatmarket in the US. Drive and be happy....
What's your source?
What are you talking about? Yamaha doesn’t even make an I/O
@@KMT15 yamaha made several I/Os in late 80's early 90's actually... i own one of them but yea i get your point
It is not too much for a DIY. This is just a commercial.
To much for a DIYer??!? Lol
Lol a favor
THE DEALER IS NOT TRYING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. HE IS REALLY DOING YOU A FAVOR. What a complete joke this guy is. 100% DIY and marina mechanics are opportunistic scavengers (with very few exemptions)....It is part replacement with some tools that help along the way. No fabrication or skills required.
MerCruiser drive the biggest junk that exists !!!
Nobody wants to go to a dealership because they charge 1000s of $$s when we brokies only buying 3k$ boats with these engines in them be nice if y’all posted better videos
Too much for a DIY? You all are a joke. Just trying to sell service. 🤣
Ya, they could have built more credibility by acknowledging the diy guy can get the job done. We may screw up the first time, and it may cost money and time to correct the mistake, but there are good reasons to diy. Sometimes it's the only way to save a boating season.
What a pile of bunk! NO WAY annual that is necessary.
