  • This time I tested my own BSpline function to create a hull. A similar feature exist in the Curves WB, but it is not what I search for, so I adapted it to my needs. Christophe Grellier did a remarkable job even he didn't admit it.
First attempt was a round shape hull and moved the points to where it is now to create small radius. In reality I would not do this, since forming small radius in aluminium/steel is time consuming or use a pipe at that area. It is better to use developable surface, knuckle and a round shape bottom form. Also I would add an additional station behind the transom to add tension to the form. It was a test. You can see that there are control points that I can drag using the dragger (position imported from outside or can be created within FreeCAD) and points which can not. The later was added into the bspline to add curvature at the bottom of the hull. So I can keep a lot of flexibility on how to form the bsplines. I have worked on many CAD systems and it was a bit difficult without having the possibilty to orient the direction how a point should move. Having a basic data, work on it and add more data as I needed. There are several other ways to setup a hull form, but I like this way.
    Less is more....
Update: working hours with all features I wrote to do hull modeling, no crash so far.
