Not bad for a first game! Playing 3 tc is challenging because you have so many workers so fast. You have to ramp up farm eco quickly and get a bunch of production to keep up. Vs abbasid I suggest horsemen camel archer. Its a tough comp to fight against. Spears get owned by camel archers and the horsemen do well vs archers and are at worst even with enemy cav. The pther advantage to opening cav is you can gain map control or contest it. Spears tend to mske yiu get pinned back, although they aren't necessarily a bad call.
Cheers mate. Yeah I think horsemen would be a lot better because I could also counter raid and not be pinned in my base. Remembering to queue up villagers more often and then suddenly having a ton of resources to spend is definitely different. But I'm enjoying the change so far
@@Amerath90 I actually just swapped from Abbasid to Byzantine for the start of this season. It feels strange not having an overload of workers, but I am really enjoying the olive oil mechanic. Free merc units is sick!
@@orisitsteven I absolutely love Byzantines they are super fun. Just wait until you get royal knights in the neutral market and can use the no contract free knight trick 😉 Love it!
GG. Think you had a good shot. My 2cents.. think the Spear opening is ok to defend horsemen and try to get your TCs up, you can use the barracks for Ghulams later. Either 2nd or 3rd TC could have gone on the gold, you floated the rez for the 3rd one for a bit. You still prob want to mill the berries on your 3rd tc to get the bonus. Those low health vils on gold can stay on sheep and send healthy vills back out to gold. The turning point was when you YOLOd your army into his base around 12:00, it was prob GG there(I know that pain all too well). At 15:00 let the fight come to you and fight under TCs. I think once you hit castle first and you’ve seen his army, switch to ghoulam/archer and get your military upgrades and sit back to mass up. Let the 3 TCs catch up. Very unlikely you have enough mass to move out at 19:00 after the previous engagements went your opponent’s way. Like someone else mentioned, poke around their base/pocket eco and see where you’re at. You don’t really need to move out until you need the gold, you already have farms set. Just need to live, also had nearly enough for a keep that could have been in your base. His archers couldn’t do much vs keeps/tcs, but that’s what makes abba frustrating to play against. My humble noob opinion is: The spear opening was correct because of horsemen but they way he used them was very poor. He should have left the spearmen at the gold whilst building the tower, not running around blindly after horses, it just gave the horses the space they needed. The rest of his eco was well protected by the two tc. Taking couple of horses down there as they went for the tower would have been huge at that point

I can't believe I forgot about boosting berries with the mill 🤦🏻♂️ You are right about my yoloing my army and then it all went downhill from there. It still feels like I'm getting to grips with them, but I'm sure I will figure it out soon. Hopefully you see some improvement over the coming days/weeks 💪🏻
You are completely right, I managed the spears really badly and took a huge amount of damage for not reason. I definitely didn't feel in control in that game but as my second ever, it could have gone worse and I learned a lot from it 💪🏻🔥
The mirror match lol, I'm not good at it too, he also didn't go for farms he went to the berries in the map, also when you aged up try to fight him immediately with castle units, your scouting is on point but your unit combination wasn't that good, you had a couple of units from every unit the civ have while he was focusing on archers and crossbow with horsemen to break siege, lastly I know it's hard while you do your eco but try to send some horsemen around the map to annoy him and not let him rest
You are completely right. My unit comp was bad and I didn't mass up well enough before taking fights so always came off worse. I did intend to send some raiding horses but completely forgot. My brain basically got overwhelmed as soon as the first horsemen appeared and I panicked for the rest of the match 😂 It definitely could have been worse for my second ranked game though. The only way is up, right?
Yeah that would have ended it at that point because I had nothing to stop him. It's something I have to remember when I'm on the opposite side and pushing too. Very good tip 👍🏻

How are you able to build a gate on the pallisade wall? I haven’t figured out how to do that. Seems like there is a trick i am missing!
You can either use the gate button like a normal building or you can select an unfinished wall and press q

Your opponent should have pushed you as you were aging up. Don’t know why he backed off. Always push an advantage when you get it.
