Hinnom Valley & Child Sacrifice of Baal Worship - גיא בן הינום ופולחן בעל

There is something so innocuous about the Valley of Hinnom, just south of the Old City in Jerusalem today. The biblical text relates, however, that the abomination of Baal worship, and passing the babies through fire, was conducted here during the reign of King Manasseh of Judah. God sent the Prophet Jeremiah to warn the people, and the result was captivity by Babylon. I incorporated rare imagery from the Tophet of Baal at Salambo in Carthage, Tunisia. In addition, the New Testament records that after Judas betrayed Jesus, he hung himself in the potters field in Hinnom, at Akeldama (The Field of Blood).
