saw something very important-----which is you remove the whole wheel and clean up the sticky mud inside the rim, , yes, very educated doing, otherwise you may suffer from brake malfunction. there r so many TUKtoy video posted on youtube, none of them showing clean up the inside rim. very nice video.
I've been to Europe, Mexico, the Deep South, and across Canada. But a trip to the Northwest Territories would be epic. I'm planning to go next summer. I can't wait!
Enjoyed the fast-paced style, no extraneous verbiage, and EXCELLENT videography. Compact, to-the-point, and kept interest level high. Congrats on doing such a great job of documenting your adventure!
Wow. Did it last year. I think even 4 years ago there was 80% less traffic. It is becoming very popular. There is a video of 3 wheel Robby who drove his motorcycle and sidecar up in January, 50 below. 👍
Great Video of your trip. I was in Tuktoyaktuk July 25,2018 . I rode solo on my Yamaha Super tenere 1200 motorbike from Dawson Creek BC. I was lucky with hot weather and no rain. Your video brought back many good memories of the Trip . Thanks for posting.
Yup, you just need to know what your vehicle can and cannot do! Ofcourse and always be prepared to handle any extreme situation. I would say the scenery and solitude is well worth the risk! :)
Was the trip worth it? 😇😉 For me, this bad and harsh weather, together with poor road conditions, looks like a waste of fuel, wear and tear on the car, and your time. Thumbs up for the fast peace of the video and the great background music. ;-)
I didnt know there was road access to Inuvik. How much fuel did you have to carry from mid Canada north? How accessible was the fuel? How do these little native villages in northern Canada get cars there and how do they get fuel and general supplies when the nearest outpost is 200, 300 miles away, or kilometers if you prefer?
As far as I know Inuvik was connected with the southern cities for years. Tuktoyaktuk was accessible only through winter roads until the end of 2017, when a year-round road was opened to public. From Dawson city, there are a few stops such as Eagle Plains, Fort McPherson for fuel and basic supplies. We did also carry two 5 gallon gas cans as a backup.
You should visit the Yukon. Very Beautiful. I will be doing a video on a solo canoe trip of the Bowron Lakes in B.C this year. Keep an eye out for it after summer
Great content!! I'm planning a similar trip this summer with a converted cargo trailer as well. What campground did you leave your trailer at before heading up the Dempster Highway? Cheers
Thank you, @philrebekah4286! :) We left our trailer at the RV Off Road Park - campgrounds.rvlife.com/regions/yukon/dawson/rv-off-road-park-250686. It is not really a campground, just a safe space to leave the trailer and that is exactly what we needed. We have a couple of pictures on our blog post - www.thenomadstudio.com/dawson-city-yukon-town-canada/. I don't know if this place is still open, so I would recommend having an alternate option as well. Hope you have a great and memorable trip!!
I grewup in Inuvik.. The dempster to Inuvik has finished in the 1978/79.. With a crappy access summer road(trail) I remember taking a few trips from Inuvik to Tuk on the trail..(as well as trips to tuk in the winter down the ice road (winter access road) an official road to Tuk was finished in 2013/14 and the winter access road closed in 2017.
How long should i plan my road trip? I will be starting at similar place but i want to make sure i give myself enough time to enjoy as much as possible.
Yes, we agree. End of season would be the perfect time to travel, because you get to enjoy with less people around, avoid mosquitos and the weather being just perfect with fall setting in. And as a bonus, you might catch a glimpse of northern lights too! On both our trips, we visited during end of August to mid of Sep and it was perfect!
Wow, that would be an adventure, I am sure you will have a great time! We made our trip at the end of August. We chose close to end of season for mainly 2 reasons - less people and no mosquitoes!
We didn't take the trailer on the Dempster due to our time constraints. We didn't encounter any tire issues. If you drive slowly and cautiously, you can certainly manage it with a trailer. Advisable to carry extra gas, a spare tire, and a vehicle with high clearance (especially for ferry crossings)
The roads were not so bad when we visited Tuk in 2018, its very much manageable if you are careful. Most semi drivers do slow down, if you do the same and move away as much are possible, you should be ok.
Amazing film!!! You deserve much more views and subscribes!!! Thank you for the vid! Just one question. How were you not scared of bears??? I was scared to walk around Yosemite because of them.... and never been to frontiers in my life. Did you feel safe to sleep in a trailer? Thanks in advance!
@Roland Oz Traveller Hi Roland . I have traveled the Dempster 3 times solo by motorcycle and haven't had a problem with bears yet. Only one time did I even see a bear . It was just a bit north of the Arctic circle and was well away from the road . That being said , proper precautions should be taken such as carrying bear spray and knife ( last resort ) … Not cooking near camp.. not wearing the clothes you cooked in . Menstruating women are also an attractant … storing food well away from camp . If your really nervous you can put a battery run electric fence around your camp . You should carry a whistle when on hikes and / or buy bear bangers . Guns are regulated in Canada so check with the proper authorities on this . Check online for more info But you don't need to camp while doing the Dempster. There is a hotel called Eagle plains at around the 250 mile mark and accommodations in Inuvik . Sometimes I camped.. sometimes I took a room. Depended on the weather . I personally have had many more bear encounters in the BC interior and Michigan … Never had to use the bear spray yet . That being said , I still don't sleep soundly in a tent in bear territory
Thank you! Be aware of mosquitoes if you are visiting in summer! If you want to spot animals like bears, fox etc.. you would have much higher chances just after sunset or dawn. Be sure to check out the visitor center for weather & road conditions. Have fun on your trip! :)
@Lisamoore , We only used google maps to find our route from Ohio. Before you head into the Dempster highway, we highly recommend you to get road & ferry info from the Visitor center in Dawson city. Information are also available in www.511yukon.ca/en/index.html www.dempsterhighway.com/copy-of-points-of-interest
Wow! Epic adventure. The short road leading to the water/camp spot was really awesome and handy for an overnight stay I bet. Any issues w/people (police/rangers) knocking on your trailer at night? Thanks for sharing. Inspires me to want to do this :D
yeah! it was truly an adventure. :) Throughout our trip we stayed in free sites like such. Thankfully did not have any kind of issues so far. Thank you for watching!
Great video guys, we really enjoyed it! We're looking forward to when we can do our own roadtrip to Tuk! Question..it looked like you didn't take the trailer with you on the Dempster? Was wondering if that was because you were concerned about road conditions? Now that you've done it, do you think you could have taken the trailer?
@TravelingMaritimers . thanks a lot for watching!. Yes, we din't take the trailer on Dempster. Our main reason was time constraint. nothing else. During our trip we did see lots of truck campers and very few trailers. If you drive slow and carefully, you can definitely make it with a trailer. Just make sure to have extra gas, spare tire and high clearance(mainly for ferry crossing).
@OscarLimaMike - the last shot was during our hike to Saskatchewan Glacier in Banff National Park if you are interested, the video link is here : ruclips.net/video/rHh95pGAaMQ/видео.html
Amazing trailer! appears when it's needed :D It kept me puzzled all along. Anyway - I really enjoyed it. Seemed like a great adventure! And if I can be helpful - it seems like you've mixed up frame rates of source material and final video. This created unnecessary stuttering visible especially when panning.

Thank you for your encouraging words! :)
Canada really is the most beautiful place there is.
Yes, it definitely is! :)
Thanks for reminding me I need to clean the Dempster off my rims! 😀
Wow 9000 mi! You guys rock!
Thank you!!
Appreciate the insight. Especially cleaning wheels.
Wow. Did it last year. I think even 4 years ago there was 80% less traffic. It is becoming very popular. There is a video of 3 wheel Robby who drove his motorcycle and sidecar up in January, 50 below. 👍
It was cool how you showed the river flowing North towards the end of the video.👍
Thanks!
I've watched a lot of videos about traveling the Dempster Highway, none showed removing the gunk from the inside of the tire rims. Nice video. Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
been to the arctic circle twice, love it, Dawson city is a surprise...
Wonderful video! Great shots. Thank you for posting it.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Great job on the video you captured so much in the 8 minutes and 40 seconds. We can't wait to travel Canada.
Danny and Lynn
Thank you Danny and Lynn. :) You guys have very informative videos in your channel. 👍
Wow. that's amazing!! This is on my bucket list! Hopefully can visit soon :)
Looks like you guys had fun
I loved your vehicle, nothing pimped up just normal car. It shows that no need of special vehicle to do it.. I'm following suit
Yup, you just need to know what your vehicle can and cannot do! Ofcourse and always be prepared to handle any extreme situation. I would say the scenery and solitude is well worth the risk! :)
That was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! Well done! Thanks for sharing!
Than you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool video!! Me and a buddy are fixing to ride from sw Arkansas to TUK. in July.. on bikes.. awesome footage and scenery.. thanks guys and be safe..
Sounds adventurous! have fun
Love this video from pakistan❤️

I’d love to make the drive up there from Wisconsin someday.
You should do it! Its amazing out there.
@@TheNomadStudio I plan on it. Just gotta save up the gas money and get it planned out and that kinda stuff.
I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this. You captured so much in such a short video. Great music too !
What an adventure- everything looks so beautiful! Well done.
It really was! Thank you!
Pretty sweet video guys.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
From Pakistan
Too much relaxant your video
Make me fresh
Thanks
Make another such joyful trip
Nature is beautiful
Awesome folks, the travel trailer conversion.. how did that go about
What’s the name of the song on your great intro? 😃 the energy from it matches your epic journey perfectly! What a trip! 😎

Is it like Siberia, but with better quality of life?
I would like to live and work here.
Nice little video. Cheers!!!
Beautiful place I live in Canada would love to go up there and see it for myself.

Dirt roads and no more trees... that's how you know you're pretty far north!
how did that tanker fit on the ferry? looks twice as long.
Yea! But it did!
Beautiful video..
I made this trip 10 years ago only 7k though from Illinois

It could vary depending upon the places you wanna visit on your way. We took about a month for this road trip. Happy travels!
Great video!! How much time did you take for your entire trip?
Cheers!!
Thank you! :) It was a month long trip and we drove from Ohio.
The price of fuel scares more than the grizzlies. Another traveler said go in September, no weather problems and less flies. Is that right?
Yes, we agree. End of season would be the perfect time to travel, because you get to enjoy with less people around, avoid mosquitos and the weather being just perfect with fall setting in. And as a bonus, you might catch a glimpse of northern lights too! On both our trips, we visited during end of August to mid of Sep and it was perfect!
Wanting to do this in August driving from Vancouver to Tuktoyaktuk.
that would be awesome. Have a great time!
Too bad you didn’t have a kayak. Would of been that much more fun. Great video guys.
Nice trip, please could you tell me what time of the year you made this trip. I was thinking make my own trip on motorcycle starting 15 of may.
Wow, that would be an adventure, I am sure you will have a great time! We made our trip at the end of August. We chose close to end of season for mainly 2 reasons - less people and no mosquitoes!
Love the intro good video
A we some :) thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thumbs up
You had a trailer initially, later dont see that. Was their any issue taking trailer on dempster?
Did you get any flat tires on the way?
We didn't take the trailer on the Dempster due to our time constraints. We didn't encounter any tire issues. If you drive slowly and cautiously, you can certainly manage it with a trailer. Advisable to carry extra gas, a spare tire, and a vehicle with high clearance (especially for ferry crossings)
Thank you for the info@@TheNomadStudio
Neat Video! Where are you guys from originally?
Looks like good trip. Nissan pulled load whole trip. Wow. How was Muktuk (whale blubber) in Tuk? 👍
yes, Nissan did!! :) Muktuk was chewy!
I am surprised about Murano surviving the trip. Is it a good car for the trip? I have one, and planning to do this trip. Thanks
Yes, it is! We didn't have any issues. If yours is an AWD, you should fine.
@@TheNomadStudio thanks, yes it’s AWD. How are the roads? Heard they are full of rocks and when big semis pass you they throw everything on your car??
The roads were not so bad when we visited Tuk in 2018, its very much manageable if you are careful. Most semi drivers do slow down, if you do the same and move away as much are possible, you should be ok.

Did you bring the trailer all the way up to arctic? As we are planning such a trip too. Thanks
They left it at a campground before the Dempster Highway. In the Description.
Oliver Jackson thank you 😊
@@kevinlin4981 No worries, I got ya :D
Where did you get your map and directions? I tried Mapquest from where I live in South Dakota to Tuktoyaktuk and it wouldn't give me a route.

Glad you enjoyed it! We left our trailer at a campground at Dawson City and took only our car till Tuktoyaktuk because of the road conditions.
Gently used Nissan for sale, all highway miles. Real creampuff? Make an offer before someone else gets it.
I was thinkin the same. I have a 20 year old Camry and I would throw it in the garbage after a good trip like this.
Since you made it that means gasoline was available.
Only americans can call road highway and have no pavement 😂
Cool video/trip!
Uhhh …. Its called the " Dempster Highway ".
Its was named that by CANADIANS as its in CANADA . SMH
Only someone not from Canada or the arctic needs hwys to be paved... :p
Awwww come on- whats up with that tinted license plate...
No idea how that car pulled that trailer .. Didn't think that type of car was even rated for towing
Thanks for watching! Murano is rated to tow 3500 lbs, our trailer weighs less than 2800 fully loaded.
Why does this background music suck so bad?
Tuktaktoktuktok 😂
change up the music. Too much of the same.
great vid. the music sucks
