Minecraft bug - knocking the spots off of mob eggs!

Maybe this is a thing people know about, my ten seconds of googling it revealed nothing. If you put mob spawning eggs in a dispenser or other inventory block, and then break the block, then the spots appear to become separate from them. Very strange.
