As an Armenian, I want to thank you for highlighting the work of one of our Nations’s greatest figures in your beautiful Cd❤ it has been a great inspiration to me 🙏🏻
I love the dynamics the pianist achieves here. The somewhat warmer, softer tone in parts of the performance seemed exactly right -- a bit of respite from that relentlessly percussive effect. This is a wonderful performance, my thanks to you.
I am studying this in college right now! My instructor says nobody ever wants to play it when she brings it up so she's super excited to teach it to me lol.
Such variety of tone and temperament in this performance. This piece can be one big bang-fest, but not true with this performer. I would ask my students to listen to this performance, as it is exemplary.
Been playing this since I was 17, so half my life. One of my favourites as there's almost countless permutations for interpretation, even from one performance to the next, depending on my mood. Section starting at 3m20s is probably one of my favourite treatments though, nice work
Don't knock this piece- written in six hours or so it is rumoured! Always reminds me of lessons with dear David Hartigan at Chetham's in the Baronial Hall during my fourth form year- and the Alderley Edge competitive music festival!
This was one of the last pieces that I learned when studying piano in college. Have not really played much for years, but listening to this make me want to find the music and start playing again.
As hard as it sounds, it's actually not that difficult of piece. I know that's relative but still. For intermediate-advanced students, it's not crazy difficult. A lot of the patterns are the same.

I do love this piece! But I dont understand why everything has to be played on a stainway haha. In the hi volume the tone gets way to bright. This performance should be way more beautifull if they properly voice the piano. Hear even in the parts that are supposed to be soft way to bright tones especially in the mid range.
The bar that starts 2.53 only has three beats in your performance - is this intentional? I only ask as I actually prefer this. The fourth beat of that bar as written, with no movement in the left hand, always feels like a suspension of the musical flow with no real purpose.
I played this piece for my audition to the piano performance department at the University of Iowa. I earned a music scholarship playing this piece. I also won the talent preliminary at Miss Wisconsin (for Miss America), playing this piece. It holds a very special place in my heart. He seemed to play it sloppy though. Like the piece was getting away from him, vs being in control of piece.
Is nobody making a comment about the numerous mistakes (notes, left out parts)?? I mean of course the guy is talented, but this is by far NOT the best performance of this piece on the internet.

I heard many interpretations of this piece on RUclips, this is one of my favourites.

love the rubato during the high parts. a lot of people play them completely straight but there is so much time to be felt in the spaces there

Murray McLachlan good job
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was actually improvised straight onto a piano roll and later notated. It has that kind of feel to it.
This was one of the last pieces that I learned when studying piano in college. Have not really played much for years, but listening to this make me want to find the music and start playing again.
College ? You mean high school ?
I am 11 and am learning this piece :)
@@maxwellspiano3580 How long have you been playing? I have been playing for 3 years and in a day I learnt almost the A & B sections quite decently.
@@alejandrom.4680 I’ve played for 4 years. And right now I am learning the moonlight sonata 3rd movement hehe :)
Go for it!
This is very well performed one of the best on RUclips if not the Best
Kachaturian was a crazy genius

I can second. Learning this as a Romantic for a uni audition.
TheSharinganBeast 写輪眼獣 That middle section (andante expresivo) is really hard to get down, but besides that, the piece is not actually too hard.
Shut the fuck up, i bet your not even musican. IDIOT !!!
@@nanouk3149 It's easy lol
@@nanouk3149 one part is kinda hard, but the rest is alot of the same and the speed comes gradually as you play

Just few notes, this Toccata hears more difficult than it actually are. I play this now, its gorgeous.

Such an empty piece. Nice performance though
