Excellent job explaining this technique. (And yes, that is exactly where your left hand needs to be during the block).
What is apparent to me is that you are continously thinking about how a technique is integrated into street fighting. (Including control of distance rather than allowing the opponent to do so.)
You also have a good ability to focus on what is relevant, particularly to lower belts, which makes Kenpo look good.
    Keep up the good work.

Preemptive strike philosophy was awesome! That was the message to it was more important than five swords message it was more about critical thinking skills.

Interesting how you use that "cross" for training. Great way to think about your opponent/attacker.
    Much respect!

Ed Parker elevated his art form an that is why it should always be called Ed Parker American Kempo same as the Gracie family elevated jujitsu to where everyone calls it Gracie Brazilian.. we need to start making acknowledging all these excellent innovators in our country an start creating a category of American Martial Arts bcuz they elevated the origin of other art forms .. bcuz in reality let’s be honest many of these arts don’t fit modern fighters that are true fighters an student of the arts.. many styles anyone has learned their history can dated back 100’s of years ago an despite many of the techniques are out dated they still have value bcuz they are the base of the style and from that base is where true martial artist should still keep but evolve your art … namaste

I can't believe how hated and disrespected this style is in the greater martial arts community, like its considered as useless as Systema which I'm sure is equally good depending on how you train it. All the people i speak to from different styles talk of how comical Kempo'ists are for hitting themselves more than their opponent and how "nobody is going to just stand there allowing you to hit them that many times" and how "over-done" everything is.. it's as if their styles don't do demonstrations or factor in how hitting a given location is going to cause a chain reaction in your opponents body opening up space for different techniques to be executed optimally, and its also suggesting their styles don't understand the concept known as 'marriage of gravity' or the principles of ricochet, they'll also make jokes at how fat and slow most Kempo practitioners are, that joke also applies to traditional Japanese Karate-ka in western countries.. and look, there's a degree of merit in that which we can't deny. Western countries are developed enough to be specialized so you don't have to be growing your food as well as earning money, you usually just sit at a desk and get some greasy sugar coated cardboard for dinner on your way home sitting in traffic, wash it all down with some carbonated sugar and then alcohol and tv to forget how pointless life (like this) is and do it all again the next day.. we're some of the most stupid but also the most privileged people in the whole world and are often too arrogant to notice let alone do anything constructive to remedy its short falls in order to live up to the infinite potential we're provided, instead we give our power to major corporations like Monsanto, McDonalds, Coke, Casinos, Cigarette manufacturers.. we're very happy to be making the super rich infinitely richer at the expense of our personal well beings whilst we toil like mice in a wheel of stress fighting or preparing to fight each-other for minimal gains or to protect what little we have. I tend to hope and aim for the insight and integrity that such training offers to help us be warriors more-so of the much needed change our society needs more than debilitating my fellow man, but there's certainly that too and its all intrinsic, you just need to expand the field of view.

Once you get into a real fight you’ll know that the basics are more effective than all these kenpo theories and blah blah blah. Kenpo instructors like to talk a whole lot.

@@buddylove6718 100% Correct. If you just improve your mile time you will gain more than this. Like he said this is hypothetical a person with basic 1st year skills of many martial arts can beat this. All of these strikes would be better generating power from your feet not twisting or flailing arms. Don't be flat footed. Use your foot work to set up your strikes. Leg kicks. Range. If you get hit do you just stop and let people combo on you?

Most real fights people rarely utilize good kicks. It’s a a few punches then grappling as they fall to the ground. Followed by both being arrested

I can tell neither of you two have been in a real fight OR that you are not either martial artists or not very good ones just based on the knowledge or lack thereof when you made your comments..... Keep sharing and those of us that have been in real fights as authentic Martial Arts will always be able to tell your skill level.
