    How do you know which size of the screw bit for the anchor?

    • @belicevelasquez
      @belicevelasquez 5 месяцев назад +4

      What I did was got the screw I needed to put in the wall. I have a bag of mix matched anchors of different sizes. I just put the screw in different anchors.
      -If it came out without twisting the anchor is too big.
      -If you have to turn the screw into the anchor and met with a small amount of resistance about three turns in, it’s the right size!
      -If it doesn’t turn at all then it’s probably too small (screw and anchor roughly the same size).
      Hope this helps 👍

    How do you determine the correct size drill bit to use with the anchor your purchased?

    • @lowes
      @lowes  8 лет назад +51

      +Antonio Gonzalez if anchor diameter is shown on the package match the drill bit to it. If diameter isn't shown a good rule of thumb is using drill bit that's the same width as the narrow portion of the anchor. Thanks for watching our video.

    • @Draconic74
      @Draconic74 6 лет назад +2

      The flat metal brace has a hole in it for a screw. The little nub you see sticking off it is part of that. All the plastic bits beforehand are really just a way to get the metal anchor to the other side of the drywall through the small initial hole. In goes the screw, with some sort of hanging device being secured to it. Up goes the painting.

    I have the hardest time getting anchors fully inserted into the drywall. I usually have to cut the anchors shorter, which isn't ideal because the anchors were provided with the item I'm trying to hang. Any tips? Should I just keep hammering the anchor until it goes in?

    What if there's a stud in the way? How do you get a drywall anchor through the wood?

    • @lowes
      @lowes  Год назад +2

      Hi Edwin, wood is sturdy and doesn't usually require an anchor to hang items securely. If you want additional support for heavy objects, you can use metal hollow self-drilling anchors and toggle bolts. These are compatible with wood!

    • @adriannaaguilar898
      @adriannaaguilar898 29 дней назад

      @@lowesomg, I drilled a hole intentionally into the stud, put an anchor in and then my screw. I didn’t know the anchor was intended for mounting where there was no stud. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ seeesh, my first time living by myself hanging stuff up and idk the basics lol

    I hung a mirror using a plastic anchor and I’m really nervous that it will still fall down and shatter. I took a peek from the side of the mirror by lifting it and the anchor was sticking out the hole that was made.

    • @lowes
      @lowes  5 лет назад +17

      Oooh, sounds like that's too much for that plastic anchor to handle. We'd recommend using toggle bolts ( low.es/2GCjYhf ) for much more holding power. Be careful!
