Really good illustration of how hard football is. Some truly class players there, and none of them got particularly close. What struck me was how many of them struggled to hit the ball with no curve, just a bit of backspin to stabilize the flight, from that distance out. Maybe even more surprising was how many of them missed left/right completely. Obviously judging the height that far out is tough, but surely world class pros can get the aim dialed, even from that distance, right? Apparently not. As an American who grew up loving football I often found myself explaining to friends just how difficult it is to get a feel for a sport in which you can only use your feet. Knew plenty of super athletic/coordinated kids that played sports using their hands that didn’t really appreciate the difficulty of football until they tried it. Gives you a new sort of appreciation for what some of these guys can do on a pitch under the bright lights and the countless prying eyes

What a transfer window that was. And again, I forgot Eto’O and Ba crossed their paths at Chelsea. And it is hilarious Hilario was still at the club back in the day. Thought he left much sooner.
