Hi amigo!!! I am more focused on orchid growing now, they require a lot of time but less energy expenditure which is better for me now due to health issues. However I still care for the garden and I have made some alterations recently to make less maintenance required. Soon I am making a garden tour. Thank you so much for being here, muc, much appreciated 😍😍
I love the pink on the petals and sepals, A LOT 🤩 and I love the fact that she bloomed for you after all 🎉 beautiful to have 2 leads blooming at the same time. Great observations and conclusions as to what you will do moving forward in the winter months! Makes perfect sense and sometimes it takes us a little longer until we click to what we did / didnt do ❤ thank you so much for organising this carecollab! I hope you are having a wonderful day 😘❤
I was so lucky that I still had blooms and 6 all together was much more than I expected. The blooms were cut off yesterday and I have them on my desk perfuming the air. Amazing also that the scent this year is much nicer, not as agressive as last year's. Now that I have the blooms close to me, I also realized that they smell any time of day or night as opposed to those which only bloom at night or need the warmth to do it. Very generous, purpuratas are. I need to send you an email sometime today, I may not have the time before going supermarket shopping and I still need to reply to comments. In the meantime have a wonderful flip flop day 😘😘😘
Hello...Dear FN. Wow you have plenty of beautiful Cattleya Orchids...Congratulations FN. I love all your collection of Cattleya Orchids.. 😍😍😍 Lots of kisses to all your Orchids.. 💋💋💋 Best wishes to you and family. Greetings from my Country. Stay safe and healthy!
Hi Zaleha, thank you very much 🙏 My orchids are sending you back lots of kisses.😘 Hope you are doing well and that your orchids are making you happy. Have a wonderful rest of the week, my friend. You too, stay safe and healthy 🌿🌺🌼💖😍
Right? 😊 Now that the blooms are in a glass vase, the coloring of petals and sepals is getting more intense and more lilac than pink 😯 Hope you are feeling better and wish you a lovely day and any even better weekend 🫶💐💖
Thank you so much Dee Dee. I have cut the flowers which are on my desk letting me enjoy its beauty. The plant is recovering for a week in a more shaded position but soon it will get to its high light location and hopefullyshe will get her strength back. Have a wonderful weekend 💖😍
Hi Justin, thank you 🙏 I am curious to see if they plump up again. I have a feeling they won't. All part of the learning curve to understand how this species works. I have cut the flowers now and she can now focus on vegetative growth ❤️❤️❤️
These supposed to be very eager to grow and between mine the difference is great. I might actually ditch some later if those won’t get their act together. Lovely pink bloom. Thank you for sharing ❤
This year I had a major cleaning in my orchids and I've dumped a few, all those that have been stalling for years. They were taking too much space and my time and they made me unhappy and could not help thinking they were suffering to. The problem is that sometimes we do not get healthy plants from the start and no matter how we try they will never push trough 😬 Thank you very much for being here, greatly appreciated 😍
You've the right growing conditions for this species. Over here, in Belgium, Our summers are to short to grow it well and get it to flower so a lot of artificial light and heath is needed to grow well here. That's why I don't grow these and other Cattleya's anymore.
Hi Marc, I hope you are have already a beautiful day!!! Yes, I understand. We cannot grow them all and Cattleyas need a lot of light and warmth. Luckily orchids have plenty to choose from. Thank you so much for your feed back, greatly appreciated 💖💖💖
Olá Lu, sim ela cresce bastante e fica alta. Felizmente como alternativa há Cattleyas bastante mais baixas e maravilhosas também. Beijinhos e tenha um otimo dia, amiga 😍😘
Hi Fernanda, your cattleya purpurata blooms are gorgeous.Thank you so much for the care Collab leadership.I am growing some divisions of cattleyas, no Id. I'm also using pebbles and charcoal as potting medium as an experiment.Do these pebbles pose a problem during summer with root burn when these pebbles warm up?
Hi Jose !!! Thank you so much !! No, I never had any problem with the stones being too hot against the roots. In Brazil, where climate is a lot warmer, most orchid growers are using stone as medium for Cattleyas because it is fast draining and does not rot, therefore avoiding the repotting unless the orchids are growing out of it. The downside is the weight but still they are using it more and more. Hope you are already having a wonderful week and wish you a great day 😍😍
Great carecollab video, thanks for sharing Fernanda! I love those gorgeous blooms, alba or not! You grow them very well. Do you leave yours outside in winter too?
Hi Mary, thank you. I never leave them out at night when nights go below 12 C but I know people that do. Although I beleive they could do well, I don't feel comfortable at the thought I might lose the plants 😅
Still doesn’t make me want any Cattleya types 😂 Although I do technically have two, both bought for $2 each in Jan this year and are part of the annual seedling competition activity with my orchid society. But we in Melbourne are not having great experience with Catts. Unless you want to grow them inside under grow lights all year around and I already have too many plants that fall into that category hahahaha. Lovely plants you have there. Beautiful blooms ❤
Hi Sharon!!! Luckily there are so many orchids, we have plenty of choice. Even those we love we don't have the space for all. Not all Cattleyas grow this big and tall, some are miniature and others are lower growers. But I wonder why they do not do well there. Amazingly some orchids, despite all we do to mimick their native habitat, seem to recognize they are in the wrong side of the globe 😂 Hope you are having a lovely week 😘😘
Those flowers are amazing! I found for my plants the pseudobulbs never plump back up once they shrivelled. I hope you can re-invigorate your plant! I don't know if I could cut off the flowers.
Yes, my purpurata's dissecated psb plumped up slightly but I don't think they will recuperate enterily. I learned a few things though. I don't mind cutting flowers anymore, that is if it helps the plant to get on growing faster 😊 I still could enjoy it on a glass vase for a couple of weeks. Hope you are already having a wonderful weekend 💝😍❤️
Yes Roslyn, you are right. My pseudobulbs were very fat too, until this spring. They suddenly shrunk in the spring but I beleive the problem was in winter when I reduced the water and fertilizer, which I usually do because days are shorter and are cold. I could hit myself for not putting my brain to use. Clear case of knowing things but not putting them into pratice in time!!! What happened was that this orchid was growing 3 new pseudobulbs through winter as oposed to just one, as usual. Not only I should have watered more but also continue the amounts of fertilizer. I should have realized all this in time but sometimes one does not think. Great lesson learned with all this. Anyway, she is a vigorous orchid and she will recover. I don't think purpurata back psb will plump up back but maybe the newer ones will. She's been watered every day now although my summers are not very hot. Thank you very much for being here, for your feed back, your comment was very much appreciated. Have a great rest of the week 💖💖💖
Hi Richard!!!! I would not be surprised if some roots collapsed but in the meantime new roots grew from the new pseudobulbs and they have all plumpled up. Also two more pseudobulbs are growing and I will make sure to water them more often than last year. Thank you very much for commenting and for the heads up. Have a great weekend 💝😍❤️
Wonderful video! And lovely blooms! Really enjoyed this 👍🏻 thank you again for including me ☺️
Thank you for your kind words, greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful day with your kittens 😻😻

Thank you very much dear Annie, hope you are having a lovely week 💖😍🥰
Beautiful blooms. And I do think the light levels can have a influence on the colors of the blooms. Thank you for this update! ❤
Thank you very much Eelke. Yes, that seems to be true, light influences colors. However I never saw it so obvious. Have a wonderful day my friend 😍😍
Linda orquídea 🌼🌺🌺

Yes, thank you Stephen 🙏 I am watering pretty much everyday now. Have a happy friday and weekend 💝
@@FernandaNascimentoOrchids you too!
Nice care collab Fernanda😀. I hope you are able to get those bulbs fattened up again soon, it's such a beautiful color on that one😍.
